Boatmans 2024-2025 season

Wow. Another rough night. Hard to understand how someone can go from throwing 3 700's in 3 weeks to not being able to break 600. We were on one of my worst pairs but geez. But I blame it on me, not the ball or the lanes. To start warmups I grabbed the Altered Reality and left 3 pocket 7 pins in my first 3 shots and missed all 3. Started the game with the AR and 5th frame switched to the Ember. Same story with that ball so game 2 I went to the Eternity Pi that I hit with a fresh 3000 dry before we started. Still no good. Game 3 I went in to the locker room and grabbed my Raw Hammer pearl that only has about 10 games on it and hadn't been thrown in about 3 years. Ended up throwing my best game with it with a 213. We also won 2/3 games too.
Step-son went in to see the PSO before we left. He has an Eternity Pi that has well over 200 games on it and has my old Squatch pearl that has to have over 100 games on it (yeah he is a lefty too). He was going to order an Equinox pearl but the PSO is a B7 guy and told him the Equinox was junk and tried to talk him in to a Zero Mercy pearl so not sure what he is going to do. I had been going back and forth between a Viking, an Ion Max pearl and a Bionic but with only a few weeks left I think I'll hold off. Hopefully I can figure something out soon.

BTW - the 244 average bowler was beside us tonight and threw a 299

Update on the tournament. After 3 weeks I'm 12th of 183 in handicap singles and 15th of 183 in scratch singles. In doubles we are 125th of 149 in scratch and 105th of 149 in handicap. My son is pretty low in scratch singles and 25th in handicap singles. 1 in 5 get paid so looking good so far.
Stephan Kosela (Mr 900) had another 300 last weekend. When I was talking to him a couple years ago he had just bowled #100 so guessing he is at at least #125 or so now.
Sunday is teams only and I didn't enter teams but there will still be singles and doubles Saturday. I still don't think I'm re-entering.

Another update: tournament is over. I'm going to skip doubles cause we are so far out of that that it doesn't matter.
Singles: there were 255 entries. Not sure how many unique entries but with 255 the top 51 would cash. I'm sure that number will be closer to about 150 after duplicates are removed so then top 30 would cash. Scores are supposed to be updated and posted sometime this week but in the past few weeks they have been updating on Wednesday so will see.
I'm sure I will cash in both scratch and handicap but not sure if my son will make the cut. His book average was 165 and he rolled a 578 with a 175 handicap. He won't make it for scratch but possibly for handicap.
I'll post my weekly league update tomorrow night then once final tournament results are in I'll post those too.

Well I should be excited about tonight, and I am but frustrated with how it ended. We only had 4 of us so had to use a blind score which is -30 pins off the absent bowler. Threw the Altered Reality all 3 games. Started out great and even game 2 was good but lost my line and couldn't figure anything out in game 3. We won game 1 by 151 but lost games 2 and 3 by 64 and 138. We fell apart and the other team got stronger. Our lead off guy has a 195 average but he went through the nose all night and threw a 519.

That's why I hate to complain about a 659...lol. If you told me before we started I'd bowl a 659 I'd be thrilled. And I would have if it were reversed. If I started with a 176 then finished with the 225 and 258 I'd feel much better...lol

Another night similar to last week. Started with the Altered Reality out across the 2nd arrow. Worked great until it didn't...lol. Got through almost 2 games but end of game 2 I started to struggle a little. Tried a few adjustments and nothing. Started game 3 with 4 7 pins. I made small adjustments on all 4. 5th frame I tried moving forward a 1/2 step and 3 pinned...lol. I switched to the Ember in the 3rd frame and 6th frame I moved outside and threw up the 7 board and that was working good. Figured I could salvage a nice game. Nope! 10th frame right through the nose and 4-6-7-8-10 split. We bowled the 1st place team and won the first 2 then lost game 3 to go 5-2. We knocked them out of 1st and we are in 3rd. But I need to figure out this game 3 issue. I was the only lefty tonight and couldn't get through 3 games.
Struggled with my 10th frame all night too.

Update on the tournament...
My book average was 202. My sons was 165. Our doubles score was bad. I had a 630 but my son had a 435 so that was out. In singles I had 705 with 780 with handicap. They posted the final results. 255 unique entries in singles and 1 in 5 cashed so top 51 cash. 1st place in singles handicap was 839. I finished 21st at 780 so I will get $75. Entry fees were $70 so made my money back. Problem is with scratch. They do scratch differently. You have to pay an extra $10 to enter the scratch portion, which I didn't do. Stephan Kosela (Mr 900) was 1st with 807. I would have been 10th and would have made $20 so I only lost out on $10. I didn't enter teams so couldn't enter the All Events either. I don't enter scratch anything cause 9/10 times I'm not good enough for scratch...lol. But my average since New Years is 210 so I'm getting to the point where I can compete with the lower level of the scratch guys.
