Great to hear you’re still rolling along!
I picked up my new ball today. After some adjustments I hit the lanes for a couple games. I didn't know where to stand because I didn't know how the ball would react when I roll it onto the alley. Well I kind of guessed right. The first game I only bowled a 152. So after the first game I made a better adjustment and bowled a good game. I bowled a 194 and had seven strikes in that game. I got a strike in the ninth frame and than two more in the 10th frame and seven down on my last ball in the tenth. The balls I have are 14 pounds so this one I went down to twelve pounds.Because of the lighter weight I get two mph faster which is 12.5. This ball works great with my speed and rev rate. I am glad that I bought this Storm Tropical Surge pearl bowling ball. I am 79 and still hitting the lanes. I have been addicted to bowling for 44 years. My old body is still okay with it.

As long as my body is still good with it I will keep bowling.

Its a solid ball for beginners, low-average bowlers just getting into resin, and for older bowlers with slow mph (rev dominant). I've recommended the Tropical Surge/Surge since it first came out...and its been around awhile. I bought my daughter a Tropical Surge.
One of the hardest things to get across to older bowlers is that they don't need a $269 ball in order to bowl better. Of matter of fact, those low RG monsters would be HORRIBLE for a rev dominant/slower speed bowler on a THS. I know from experience. I have a Motiv Trident, Zen Master Solid, and Brunswick Perfect Mindset sitting on my rack in my basement. I have a Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid that doesn't leave my bag.
Its taken me a lot of time to just accept the fact that we're playing a dry THS...with a decent amount of oil in the very center. I need increased distance (ball) or increased speed or a flatter release. I've gained speed (didn't really work) and I'm trying to avoid flattening the release because I've rarely (if ever) practiced developing multiple releases. So, I need a weaker ball. I just have to fit that nagging feeling inside many bowlers...that if only we had the same ball in our hand as the Pros...we could bowl more like the pros. The Pros throw 21-24 mph with 400-600 rpm rev rates...its not even "apples and oranges"...its "apples and asteroids".
If you find you need a little more "umphh"...especially early in the night...a Hy Road is a great, reliable next step. If you notice more of a problem later in the night...where you just can't stay on the proper side of the headpin...then you need to look at something that has a more skid/flip profile...something that will still provide length (which you need on worn oil patterns)...but has a stronger core that can still make a nice turn downlane...where likely some oil has been carried down...primarily from spare balls and house balls.
