4/27/2009

Dick Finke of Maple Grove, Minn., an American Bowling Congress honorary member and former member of the ABC Board of Directors, died April 20 at age 90.

Finke served as an ABC director from 1973-89 when he was named an honorary member. He served as Minnesota Men's Association secretary and as Minneapolis District Bowling Association executive secretary-treasurer. Finke also was very active working with youth bowlers. He bowled in the same Merchant League he helped form many years ago. His high average was 188; and his best game was 289.

The Minnesota State Bowling Proprietors recognized him with its highest honor, the "Tell 'Em So Award." He was a lifetime member of the Minneapolis USBC Association.

Finke's funeral was held April 25. The family requests that memorials are sent to the Church of St. Bridget or to the Bowlers to Veterans Link, for the care of hospitalized veterans.
