I had been bowling for 5 years before hitting 200+, and averaged that for 3 years. Now I'm at 180 and can't seem to get out of my funk.
And what is your average right now?
I've been bowling in a league for almost exactly a year and my average in 2 of my 3 leagues is in the 205-210 range.
If you don't have a 200+ average, what is your average and how long have you been bowling?
I'm just trying to get some idea on how I'm progressing

I've been bowling about 2-3 years now...and my average ranges from 120ish - 130ish. And that's starting with a 75ish average. It's taking me a little longer due to my health...but I'm getting there. I hope to continue to improve my average over time.

I am 167 now and it has takenme 3 1/2 to 4 years
Well, seeing as I started bowling at the age of 5 in the 1960's. It took me about 37 years to break the 200 average mark. I am in my 50's now and have not carried less than 200 since finally breaking the barrier. I got my first 300 game at age 30 with a 189 average. It took another 10 years to get my second 300, carrying a 197 average. My seventh and most recent 300 came in 2005. (A solid 9 in the 4th frame last Thursday for 279.) I also hit 803 for my first 800 series that night. I had two more 800's (802 and 815) last year. Remarkably, having surgery to repair a separated shoulder at age 42 seems to be the thing that pushed me over the top. Went from being a cranker (or trying to be) to being a stroker. Shoulder couldn't take the big swing. As my shoulder as gotten stronger I have become a tweener and am bowling the best of my life, three nights a week. Three league averages 213,213,214.
ive been bowling for 13 years now, it took me 7 years to get a 200 avg.

I was almost at a 200 before I quit bowling, that took 4 years. Now I've been back on a league for 2 years and I'm at 190.

the real question, in today's bowling enviroment, should be: "how long did it take you to reach a 220+ average" LOL!

I hit 200 on a semi regular basis, but I averaged 175 before getting coaching. Now I'm averaging 150 trying to incorporate the changes into my game.
