The biggest problem I've found is to select the correct adjustment first. You formulate an hypothesis according to what you think you're seeing, then select what you guess is the proper adjustment. I guess wrong a lot. Then I'm stuck throwing two shots with the wrong adjustment because maybe I made a bad shot on the first one. It took me until the middle of the last game last week to find what worked after the first few frames of the first game. (I had a back-up house ball bowler on my side and the carrydown was confusing.) I moved all over the lanes, I tried different hand positions, speeds, anything I could remember, until I put my pinky against my other fingers and started striking. Next time I'll try that first and see what happens.
