Unhappy Balls Balls Balls, what should I buy?

I am a recreational bowler and have picked it back up this year. I have always been a straight ball bowler and am ready to change to a hook. The more I talk to people the more confused I get about what ball to buy.

    I throw the ball pretty hard, 16 - 18 mph, I'm 53 years old, and 6'4", 260lbs; so a pretty big guy and I current use a 15lbs ball.

As I've looked around this is what I'm being told:

Track 505C - as a first hook ball because it has better control

Reign - better ball but shouldn't perform any better for me than the 505C

Virtual Energy - go ahead and get this ball so that my speed will not be a factor and I should get all the hook I need reguardless of the lane conditions.

    What do you think?

    Welcome

How have your previous balls been drilled? Conventional or finger tip? If you have never bowled finger tip, then it will be a slight change, but it will help you get some revs on the ball to throw a hook. It may not be allot at first, but as you keep working on it, you will learn how to throw more revs.

What ball did you used to have before?

I'd say middle to oily. I really leaning toward the Storm and just accept the learning curve.

Since you're looking Storm you might want to also lok at the Furious. As you described the lanes to be middle to oily the solid R2s cover of the Furious will give you an even reaction andd thereby easier adjustments while your learning rather than a skid/flip ball
Still love the game but had to quit because of my left leg amptation
