Question Bolwing in Midland/Odessa, TX area??

Ladies and Gents I am new to the boards and want to say hi!

Im looking to get serious about my bowling. I am still a young adult, 31, and think its time I put some effort into my bowling. Ive always loved it and Ive always been naturally decent at it. I have bowled in some leagues but they were not what I expected in the past. I bowled the other night for the first time in months and shot a 176 and a 192 and that was with the wife, 2 year old and 5 year old so to say it was distracting is an understatement. But after that evening I thought I owed it to myself to get into it and to take it more serious than I did before when I thought I was taking it serious. I have a few questions and sorry to bore yall on my first post on here but just wantes to give you a back ground on where I am coming from.

Im currently using a Storm Hurricane 15#s fingertip drilled and like it. I think Im a stroker but may be a tweener, I am not really sure.

Do you know of a bowling center here in Midland/Odessa, TX with a ledgit bowling pro or coach and professional drilling services???

What are some leagues you can participate in that are not just an excuse to get out of the house and get drunk? Im looking for a league thats based on the sport of bowling not 12oz curls

What spare ball should I get and what weight should I get it in and should it be fingertips as well?

What suggestions do you have on new hook balls that I can experiment with? Is that what you call it, a hook ball?? Im dont know the proper lingo yet

Thanks for the help in advance and if there are any West Texas bowlers out there holler at me on here or email me at dgreaud@att.net

Thanks and nice to meet all of you!

Nope, but most bowling centers have their own in-house pro-shops. Every bowling alley that I've been to has had one in there.

Any as long as it is plastic. Examples: Ebonite Maxim, Brunswick T-Zone

And I'd recommend getting it the same weight/drilling as your other balls, to keep the feel similar.

I'd suggest the Columbia 300 Freeze, I've never used it but it has good hook potential and it's a cheap ball.

    also, 'reactive' ball

Cool, thanks Drano!!! Reactive ball, lol, that sounds better

I ask about the bowling pro shop because the one I know of here in Midland is a joke, or at least it has been in the past. Im not trying to offend anyone if they work there or know someone who does but the dang thing is never even open and I dont think anyone at the bowling alley bowls?! It seems to me like all the employees are just counter workers and not into bowling so thats why I asked about that.

Im hoping there is something in Odessa, I dont go there much but its only 15 mins away.

Ill check into the Freeze, know of any other "reactive balls" that would be good to try as well? Should I get it drilled from Bowlers Paradise by sending in my current ball??? At this point and time I dont know of too many options other than taking it to that shop here and hoping they dont mess it up

    Thanks
    Dano
