From the PBA site, Mike Machuga talking about his loss to Anthony LeCaze in the title match.

Machuga was on the same page. “My second shot in the 10tInh frame is as good as I can throw it,” he said. “You always have the mindset that your opponent is going to strike out. Anthony stepped up in the 10th frame, bowling for his first title on very difficult lane conditions, and threw it as good as you possibly can. I give him all the credit in the world.”

That is a class act right there.

What a great show for underscoring the importance of making spares, especially in a grind. If you've never bowled on sport conditions, PBA experience leagues, the USBC national championship tournament, etc, the best advice anyone can give is to make your spares. Learn to throw straight at them. Mike Wolfe's flagging the 8-pin shows how important that is.

My hat is also off to the PBA for having the cahones to continue to put out tough lane conditions (Red, White, and Blue tourney aside) for the telecast.

I definatly agree with Mike being a class act. At the level of expertise these guys are at spare shooting should not be an issue. I think it's a combination of many of them loosing focas and taking the spare for granted. That plus i think many are trying to throw it too hard.
