Default New but starting to get serious about bowling.

I have a Columbia Scout Reactive bowling ball and I noticed that it doesnt hook on newly dressed lanes. So I was thinking about upgrading to another ball like the Columbia Freeze or the Columbia Cool Noize for league play. I've read great reviews on both balls, but I cant seem to decide between the two. I avg around 170, but I know I can do better with the right kind of ball. I believe that I'm between a Stroker and a Tweener. Please help. League starts in 3 weeks!!!

look at which ball other successful players are using on the lanes that you will be bowling on and start there.

My vote is for the freeze. My bowling style seems simular from what I can tell. I have average ball speed, I lean toward the tweener side more probably than you do but I have went from stroker to a tweener with a freeze and it has worked great the whole time. I am still pretty much a novice and have been bowling about six mounths if that helps at all. It works well on light to medium oils. It works better for me stroking the ball on heavier oil. It seems to hit harder and leaves less ten pins. Well that's my vote...freeze

Johnny it all depends on what you are looking for. If you want a ball that hooks more overall then I would recommend the cool Noize. The Freeze is closer to your current ball now compared to the cool Noize. The Cool Noize is a great ball for more medium oil lane conditions and if you do not run into a problem hooking the scout on the house shot then the cool Noize will move you in some on the lane. Not much, but some.

I would recommend the Cool Noize if you are looking to get into bowling more seriously though. You need to be able to control and strike with more aggressive equipment and you need to be able to play different lines. This process can be started by moving up to a Cool Noize over a Freeze from the scout reactive.

Granted I don't know your game or how you throw the ball, this is the best information I can give you. before you buy either though, I would recommend talking to your pro shop owner and tell him what you are looking for exactly.

    Hope this helps!
    -Chris

I'm a low rev stroker and just picked up an old blue hammer, urethane. Bowled my 2nd highest game with this ball, I love it!

Johnny, are you only considering Columbia products because you already have one? All of the manufacturers have some great equipment out these days.
