Either the guy's lanes are exceptionally horrid or he refused to grease the right palms. I know of at least 2 houses where the lanes are in terrible shape and get worse each year but always cruise through certification.
Federal court dismisses lawsuit against USBC
A federal court in Pennsylvania has granted a United States Bowling Congress "motion to dismiss" filing, defeating a class action lawsuit brought by Jimbo's Bowling Group, doing business as Park Lanes, against the USBC.
After USBC refused to certify his center, the plaintiff claimed the lane certification process used by USBC was unfair and that USBC allows bowling scores to be inflated based on lane conditions rather than the skill of the bowlers.
Attorneys for USBC argued Jimbo's Bowling Group had no facts to support its claim and no legal basis to proceed.
United States District Court Judge John E. Jones III quickly granted USBC's request to dismiss the case.
"For more than 100 years, the USBC and its predecessors have served as the governing body of bowling in the United States," said USBC Vice President-National Governing Body Neil Stremmel. "One of our most important functions is to set the equipment and lane specifications that are the foundation of certified competition in our sport."
"Collectively, USBC and its founding members have been sued over the years and we have never lost a case challenging our responsibility to uphold the integrity of the sport," Stremmel said. "Our membership can be assured that we will continue to vigorously protect the sport of bowling."
