    Default New here...not to bowling...

    Hi all,
John from Virginia Beach. Been bowling 30+ years and have had my share of successes; 811 hi series ('97); 3 300s (last '06); 5 299s (last '10); Tidewater Virginia USBC Doubles Champion ('10) (w/Craig Stevens).
I've been a league secretary on and off for the last 10-12 years. Currently secretary of the N&C Mixed league at AMF Indian River lanes, Virginia Beach; 40 4 person teams...and I love doing it.

Other stuff; I retired from the U.S. Navy in '04. Originally from Columbus, OH, transplanted to Tampa, FL, joined the Navy and been in Virginia Beach now for over 16 years.

Loved watching Randy Pedersen bowl but not a huge fan of him on the shows now...don't really care for the 'Hambone'. Enjoy watching the power strokers on tour because it's not always about how many boards can be crossed. Really enjoy watching Mike Fagan and Wes Mellet, mostly because of their attitude.

    Again, hello to all,
    John

Welcome to the boards John, glad to meet you. I was born and raised in Alexandria, and was stationed as an Army recruiter in Roanoke, and Lexington in the mid 80's. Loved the area, hated the job, and the people in charge. Been to VA beach only twice though. Once for an a-s chewing (they called it a Bn. Recruiting Conference Meeting) and the other was vacation after the first Desert Storm. I love the sea food, but just a little to much sand for me. Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Good luck and good bowling
    Bill
