    Default Thumb vs consistency

Hi everyone. I've been bowling for some years between 12 and 16 years old. I came back to regular bowling last summer, thinking that some of my old habits wouldn't be there anymore. I was wrong. The main problem I have is that I have a lot of difficulties with my thumb. I know since I am bowling more seriously that the thumb must not be loose, so that I wouldn't have to bend my thumb. That way, I know that when accelerating my arm at the release, the thumb should go out easily and that should give me more consistency. But, I have always been used to have my thumb loose, and bending it so that I don't drop the ball behind me. That way of gripping the ball isn't good for consistency because it's me that decide when I "unbent" my thumb and release the ball.

Anyone has some drill, tricks, that could help me with that? Right now, I am adding a tape in the thumb, to tight it a little bit, but I still have the reflex to bend the thumb. So, one shot the thumb go out like it should, the other time, the thumb get stuck and the ball makes a jump, and another time, I almost drop the ball on my feet.

Can the "Thunder tape" from Storm (http://www.stormbowling.com/shop/accessories/313) could help me in that?

    Thanks for help!

    Default Thumb reply

Google a device called thumb straight and buy it. Relax your hand to the point of a wet noodle. And proofread. Lol
