5-pin leaves unusually often.
I've been noticing that I'm leaving the 5 pin standing a good deal in the past week or so. I'd say probably 3-4 times in every game. Not that I'm complaining, its probably the easiest pin I can pick up, but I'd like to know what's causing me to leave it so consistently?

That means your ball isn't finishing through the pins. That or the angle you're throwing the ball is causing it to miss the 5 pin. What kind of ball are you throwing and how heavy is it?

I'm currently bowling my dad's old 14lb Columbia High Skore 300. Its a very very old ball. I have a ball on order through our Pro Shop, I'm just waiting on it to come in. The ball doesn't have much of a reaction to it so I usually aim about 2 boards to the right of the pocket and it will swing those 2 boards into the pocket. Thats probably what is causing the 5 pin to stay standing.

Most definitely. What ball did you order, if you don't mind me asking?

I ordered a 14lb Tropical Heat. The guy in the pro shop had a 14lb one, but it was pearlized coverstock instead of the hybrid coverstock I wanted, so he put one on order for me and he said it would take about 5-7 business days for it to get in.

Very good choice! That's going to improve your game immensely! Just keep working on spares and the strikes will come.

You could try standing farther to the right and moving your target a little bit right to give yorself a bit more angle into the pocket, but it's probably not worth it if you'll have the new ball next week.

We say "No drive, no five." The ball is deflecting, either because it's still sliding or has rolled out. A little higher in the pocket works, but sometimes just exchanges the 5 for a corner pin. It's one of the things that makes this sport so interesting.
