Earl Anthony had the "old school" release that was more out in front of the slide leg with more wrist turn than cup-and-collapse. Tommy Baker might be the best spin-roll bowler the game has ever seen. Tommy Jones loads up from the "inside" of the ball with massive cup-and-collapse. Chris Barnes alters his release in a number of different ways to meet changing conditions.
As Kevin says, it doesn't matter what you do as long as you do it consistently. You can change balls, change lines, but if your release changes from shot to shot - no matter how good each release is independently of an other - you'll struggle to score.
