Default I had my first experiance in a brunswick bowling center.

Short story: Brunswick Wekiva Lanes in Apopka FL
Wow.. what a difference. Really nice, oiled lanes, approach clean, seats that actually move out and turn around.
Downside: The computers are a bit dated but whatever, it works.
It's a bit expensive to bowl at with 2.99 per game vs 1.75 I usually pay for at my center.
It has synthetic lanes. My center has actual wood lanes that is original with the center.

    Long story:
I went bowling today at my usual spot colonial lanes in orlando, which is a great place since it's locally owned and I've bowl numerous times but I guess they were off their A-Game today. It started off bad with a pin setter sweep grabbing fallen pins by the neck and dragging them back on to the lane. After requesting service, they adjusted the sweep so it didn't do it anymore. Now my shiny new ball is picking up all dirt and getting 60mm gray smudges all over. I figured it was the ball return. Pro-shop employee came and ask me about my new ball. I told him I was getting these smudges and he said the lanes haven't been dressed and that might be why. So GREAT! The lanes are dry and the equipment is having issues.

Three games later I asked to move to a different lane. I went from 7 to 5 and the first thing I notice is that I can't slide anymore. I look at my shoe it's a bit a dirty, brush it off, tried again same thing. I go to 6 and I can slide, 7 I can slide, 5 I can't. I look in the pit and noticed what looks like bowling shoe-shape prints all over the floor. My guess is a previous bowler put something on his shoe or step in something and has left residue all over the approach. I went to the desk again and complained. One of their personnel comes and gets on his hands and knees with a rag and spray can that I assume is a cleaner. 20 minutes later after he was done. I tried again and it was slightly better. I tried powdering my shoe with bowlers chalk that didn't even work. I tried to finish my game but I didn't break 100 because I couldn't slide and screw me up alot.

At that point I packed up my gear went to the desk and Just said I'm cashing out my remaining games and left the center.

Feeling unsatisfied with 4 games, I drove to Apopka and bowled at the Brunswick Wekiva Lanes. I bowled 6 games and did pretty good. 109-167-155-183-189-179.
Pins felt a bit heavy didn't dance around as much.

    Overall I was happy.

I figured I would share this.

Its a shame when you have to bowl in conditions like that, have to admit our local center is having a few issues lately, but we (league secretaries) work closely with the management to keep it running pretty smooth when the leagues are on.

$2.99/game! over here, open play rates are $5.00 for non-league bowlers. If the lanes are bad, try moving lanes again or if they do not fix things promptly, just get a refund and leave.

Wekiva is one of my favorite bowling centers. You're right, it's clean and well taken care of.
