Thread: Ebonite cyclone

    Default Ebonite cyclone

I just bought the ebonite 15lb cyclone today. I like the ball, it just seemed to hook way to soon. I normally bowl 160's to 170's with plain house balls. My best using the cyclone was only 120... I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on this particular ball. Thanks!

The first idea that comes to mind is for you to up the speed of the ball a little and see how that affects things. You could also try to start your approach a little more from the left (if you're right-handed).

If you were used to throwing a hook with house balls, the cyclone probably should hook more and sooner. Did you buy it at a local pro shop? Pro shop will often spend a few minutes watching you throw and making suggestions if you ask.

I don't have my cyclone yet but it should be here soon but anyways that
ball will hook more than any house ball ever thought about hooking. It could
have a lot to do with the way it is drilled also on where they placed the pin
and you will need a little more speed on it also like tokih said and maybe move
a little more left and play more in the oil with it before getting out on the dryer
    boards with it.

You may want to change the surface of the ball to match how you throw. Ask your pro shop to polish it up a bit maybe? That'll definitely cause the ball to clear the front part of the lane

Yes as StormGirl said you can try changing the surface to a higher polish but the ball
already comes with a 4000 Abralon, Polished with Powerhouse Factory Finish but you
may want to try something like a higher gloss polish or as I said earlier play more in the
    oil with it.

Thanks everyone for the help! Turns out I was flipping my wrist too much. I love the ball now! I bowled a 200 last night, (my highest ever)!
