    Default Team USA Trials

I have Bowl TV's coverage of the team USA trials running on my second monitor this week.

It's always interesting to watch and proves a point I think for those new to the sport and/or struggling with their game.

There's obviously a wide variety of styles on there. However, you can almost guarantee that the guys on top have several things in common - a smooth, controlled approach and release with a relaxed, straight arm and good follow through i.e. all the stuff a good coach and most coaching manuals will teach you. The swing height may very along with the amount of tilt, revs, cupping etc but the basics nearly always stay true.

As soon as you get someone up with a goofy swing, approach, slide or release you can almost guarantee a sub-200 game - often well below 200. Of course now and again there's an exception but it's usually just that and even more rarely repeats the following day.

Like it or not there's a reason when you ask for a critique of your game the replies are often fairly specific and to some I suppose seem a little harsh.

Oh and...good grief do I feel old watching them. Apparently about half the field is too young to make the adult team...
