The draw is to put yourself against other people not just against yourself and to hang out with your teammates/ meet new people its just like anything...I could golf cheaper than in a league but its not anywhere near as much fun alone
I don't think it's worth it. I can bowl every morning for $1 a game and play sport lanes on Tuesdays and Sundays for versatility and the same price. I mean obviously it's worth it if you can win the big prize at the end...

my league is 18 a night. each win nets about 4 dollars per person on a 4 man team. 18*36weeks=648
last year my team was i think 9th in total wins out of 12 teams, and I got about 180 back after team/individual prizes. so I spent 468 over 36 weeks. 13 dollars a week to bowl 3 games, learn a lot as a newer bowler, and overall just have fun with a bunch of friends
last year I think my team won 16 games one quarter as our best. this year we've averaged about 20 wins over the first 3, so more money already
and really, winter and summer leages, whatever money i put in is gone to me. the winnings I get back, I take maybe 20-40 out for fun, and throw the rest in a pile in my room as extra/fun money to cash in sometime. I have like 400 dollars in that pile to use for whatever. so really, I'm having fun/stockpiling money that could be useful for more fun sometime
pile in your room huh? all I can picture is someone 'scrooge-mcduckin' into a big vault of money. Sorry - just had to share.

I currently bowl on a 3 man team and it is $10 a week. This summer I'm bowling on a 2 person (4 games) league and it will cost us $11. Most the leagues in my area stay under $25 except one league that they do over the summer where you pay anywhere from $18-$30 but some of that money goes to a new ball depending on how much you pay. It adds up but doesn't break the bank either.
well it's more of an envelope tucked away. I save random money like that all the time.
I filled up my empty protein powder jar with silver change only, and cashed it in for about $700 like 2 years ago. I bought a 50'' plasma tv, and the change paid for most of it.
since then I've filled up another jug and am on a second one.
it's fun buying something nice and you barely touch your bank account
no, that's cool - smart actually. It was just the visual that I had, and it made me chuckle.

We are starting in our very first league in April. We are on a 4 person team, me, wife, sis in law and her fiancee. $24 per person per week, but it's a Vegas league, so the cost helps pay for 2 nights in a hotel in Las Vegas at the end of the season. We do live in SoCal, so the costs here are a little higher than some other places....
would that happen to be at the Kearny Mesa? Love that place.
