that's a good idea. I actually ended up using an old key, and it tied it so that i barely is low enough to touch the ball. This prevents it from wrapping, and it also means that the only way I hit that key is if I hit my EXACT mark to the board.
I think you should add a straw or something stiff around the fish line so the line won't wrap around the pvc after the ball hits the washer. I like this tool I think the more useful way to really tighten you game have 2 washers and the ball needs to make through them without touching either washer. As you get better the washers get closer. That way you know 100% wide or inside.

I used a strip of velcro across the entire pole, and then used velcro on a small flag. thise keeps the flag in place, but is still able to move from one spot to another. I have three different sizes that are for different levels of skill and accuracy. When I lay the flag over the front of the pole it can't wrap around. I put a small piece of metal coat hanger inside the flag to weight it down, but anything heavier, or getting direct contact to the ball is going to have a chance to scar the ball.
