    Default New from Columbus, IN

    Hey there guys!

Glad I found the site. I come from the land of Candlepin Bowling as I grew up in Massachusetts. I was one of the best in my league at it when growing up. I moved to the midwest about 8 years ago and finally bought a ball 5 months ago and got started here at the Columbus Bowling Center.

I started with a 15lb cyclone fingertip and just started practicing on weekends as I waited for a spot in a league to open. I didn't have a clue how to hook the ball since I came from Candlepin, everything you learn in candlepin does not translate well. So after a few weeks I got the call to start in the league. I was nervous but my first night was a 520 series. I'll take that on my 1st league night.

As of tonight I'm rolling an average of 181 and moved up to a Roto-Grip insanity as I started doing the sport league here. Our sport league has about 10 people in it and I was asked to join it after showing rapid improvement according to the veterans at the center. Our sport league changes the pattern every 3-4 weeks. A random pattern is selected from Kegal's database and we learn it for 3-4 weeks.

After a month of doing the sport league my average is up to only 149 as the shot kills me as I can't generate a lot of rev, and too much speed. But I am becoming way more accurate and getting lessons from all the guys.

So after doing this since November averaging 181/149 I can't think it's too bad.

I've upgraded the shoes now, and the bag. I look forward to playing each week.

So I want to say thanks for having such a great community and I hope to be a part of it for years to come.
