I absolutely hate facebook contests. I refuse to join that site for any reason and miss out on a lot of contests because of it. I would much rather companies stick to their own sites and advertise by other means. Social media sites never last so I have no idea why businesses continue to use them, especially when they roll out that IPO facebook is just gonna be spam central and most normal people will bail when their inbox is filled daily with advertising from stuff they and all their "friends" supposedly like. Good luck with the contest though. If you can decide a way to do the contest other than facebook likes please post and I'll gladly join.

on a side note though anyone could easily just make 500 fake accounts and win everything.

A good part of the reason is that marketing "experts" are telling the companies that social media is where you will find your future customers.

You'd need 500 throwaway email accounts to do it, which would take a long time and a heck of a lot of effort. If you think it's easy, try it.

Anywho, you know that you can join FB and control 100% of how it's used, who can see you, who can not, and what reaches your email or other online presence? You don't even have to use your real name. It's not the devil, and in the case of companies and products you like, it's a great way to stay in contact with what interests you.

It's no different than this site or an email account, or a public library, when you get right down to it.
