Del Ballard once said that while recording bowlers he noticed that on average, amateurs released their thumb one frame later than the professionals. It doesn't sound like much but it's the little things that separates the pros from the joes.
yeah billf i do the same thing alittle grip on the backswing soo it dose not fall off my hand but on downswing i hold for a second so i can adjust my wrist but when im adjusted i release my thumb and let it come out on its down right befor the throw never use to do that cause i had to grip with my thumb cause i was only a half a thumb and i used part of my thumb to give me alittle extra roation on the ball but it lacked my accuracy abit
