Default Bowling Film Discussion and FRAMES the film

    Hey all,

I'd like to start a discussion about Bowling films and things you'd like to see in one that you haven't seen in other films. We can also talk about bowling movies and moments we love from them. I'm a film director who is making a bowling movie in the coming months and would like to hear from bowlers what moments they most remember from their bowling experience's. Anything that happened in a bowling alley is kosher!

Our film is entitled Frames, we're looking for supporters and also people who might be interested in being extra's in the film who live in the Chicago area. I don't think there has been another bowling film quite like ours, it certainly isn't Big Lebowski or Kingpin although we love those films.

For more info please check out our kickstarter page!http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1753604893/frames

If interested in being an extra please send me a pm and we can work out the details.

the thing i remember the most from my bowling experience was when i hit the 7-10 split and the big 4 in the same day, that would look good in a movie someone getting one of those.

also i remember when i got my first 300 game when i was on my 2nd year of bowling, that defently should be in a movie is a 300 game and getting a big reward for it.

maby another thing you could put in is a freshly new guy to bowling going into a turnny of agenst champion bowlers who ahve been bowling for years and this one guy thats new comes out beating everyone else with no help just gose and dose his best and gets 1st place, that would look good and get lots of people into bowling i think

If your going talk about bowling movies, then you can start with the 1979 movie "Dreamer". (Given that you want a 80's feel to your short film)

The movie starred Tim Matheson as a young bowling center employee, looking to become a professional bowler. With a eye to earning enough money to open his own center.

You see all the after hours work at the center and all the practice that goes into going pro. Bowlers going to tournaments with only one ball and coming home on the bus.

This is a little seen bowling movie, but one that portrays the early days of the sport in a more realistic way. It also featured some stars of day like Dick Weber, Nelson Burton Jr., Chris Schenkel.

This movie makes me think of the things that are gone from the sport.

Like going to league and seeing eveyone in their team shirts, teams competing not for prize money, but for the honor of having their names on the championship trophy.

The end of season championship when only the top two teams bowled, with the rest of the league there cheering them on.

    The awards banquet, etc.

I don't know right off hand, maybe torrent or something might have it. They just showed it on Fox Movie Channel recently.

In fact I posted in the chat box about it.

Dreamer has been out of print for a while. I'll have to look to see if we get that channel. Yes! DVR programmed.

There's a used VHS available on Amazon.

Wow never seen Dreamer, going to have to give it a look.

Just FYI we are running a kickstarter campaign and doing a raffle for the last 7 days, looking forward to shooting our film at Timber Lanes (Chicago) in June!
