Been there done that a few times myself and it was no fun.
That is why I bought a plastic ball for spares and for when
I hit those kind of dry lanes and I have to take some hand
out of the ball to get it to go straight down the lane.
So tonight we start warming up on lanes 1 and 2. I get my line, and lane 2 breaks down before warmup ends. They move us to lanes 12 and 13 which haven't been oiled since monday, and oh my god were they dry. I was standing to the left, past the gutter. Lofting the ball halfway down the lane, I was STILL going past brooklyn. Both teams shot awful, but man was it hilarious. Just thought I would share.

By the third game of league I usually have to throw my plastic spare ball. The past few weeks I have even had to take hand out of that to not hit brooklyn. Hopefully the Storm Natural Pearl I bought yesterday will help. I figure if I increase my ball speed to around 22-23mph it should hit the pocket without me having to loft the gutter.

Back in the 70's we used to have a challenge match between Michigan Tech, and Suomi College. They weren't very good. We drubbed them over at our college, however the lanes at their college were extremely dry. I could almost pick splinters out of my ball. I had an old Columbia Pro that I would whip out from the 5th arrow to around the 5 board, and just manage to keep the ball on the right side of the head pin. We still beat them but, it wasn't by a lot.

Yeah our local house only oils the lanes once or twice a week, so it can get pretty bad.
