Default Is it the Ball or the Man/Woman!

I remember a pro golfer saying he could beat the average duffer with only a string and a Coke bottle. That golfer was Lee Traveno! Excuse the spelling, which Iam sure is not correct. What I am asking is this: Is the ball the most important part of the equation, or the bowler. Can a GREAT Bowler, carry a 200 average with any ball out there, or do some fail regardless of the equipment simple because they don't have the gift? There is a differance and degree as to how far a
bowler can go it seems to me? Or am I wrong?

Hmmmm, what a great topic that will bring a variety of opinions!
Most people don't possess the God given talent and work ethic to be professionals (in any sport). Most have one or the other. The biggest difference I have seen is that the one's with natural ability reach their personal best sooner while those who work harder take longer to get to the same point.
Yes, in my opinion, great bowlers can carry a 200 average with junk equipment on a house pattern while the rest of the universe needs the equipment to make up the deficiency in talent and a large percentage of that second group will still fail. Why? I bet it's the inability to combine the mental and physical aspects of the game, such as, knowing what adjustments to make and when to make them.
