Old Rubber Black Bowling Ball Question

I have my dads old rubber bowling ball conventional grip, but fits me ok. Can you use them on the new lanes? I think in his days the alleys were wood, were as now they are synthetic I believe. If you can use the old rubber style, how do they react on the new surfaces!

My best guess would be that it will not react at all most likely slide
most or all the way down the lane. I tried some of my reactive balls
from back in the late 80's and early 90's and they didn't react anything
like my newer equipment does they wanted to just slide on the synthetic
lanes but used to hook like crazy on the old wooden lanes.

On the old wooden lanes, did old rubber balls hook much? Or did people (back then) throw mainly streight balls. I assume they oiled the lanes then? Wow bowling

I remember watching some bowling on TV way back when and it most certainly
didn't look like they were hooking the old rubber balls much over 4 to 6 boards
if that much. It looked like they were mostly playing a straight down and in line
it looked to be almost a completely straight ball to me anyways.

Back when I started bowling in the mid 70s, most of the bowlers were still rolling rubber. There were a few guys who could put it down on 15, send it out to 5, and have it come back to the pocket. The one lefty on our team usually sent it straight down 5 and let it hook into the pocket. Everyone else played it pretty straight between the second and third arrows.

I've used my LT-48 in this era when I first got back into bowling. I could get it to hook, but it had no power compared to the balls I've had since.
