Default Is it legal to use a good pair of tennis shoes to bowl?

If you purchase a good comfortable pair of tennis shoes, because you do not like to slide while delivering the ball on the approach is it legal? I know they don't want people to wear their street shoes to bowl in, but I have a problem bowling with regualr bowling shoes. I have a 3 step approach, and deliver the ball.
I have known of some professionals that use a tennis shoe on one foot! So my question is if you purchase a good pair of athletic shoes, and stick them in your bag, and only use them for bowling is that legal? you can get athletic shoes that look just like the real deal, so its not a question of street shoe look. And a non scuffing sole would do no damage to the approach area right????

As long as you get non marking soles and only use them for bowling, you can use them.
