    Default Music and Bowling...

    Just wondering,

    1. Does anyone listen to music when they bowl? I've seen a couple guys at my alley wear headphones when they bowl (during league play), have you ever done this or seen anyone do this?

    2. Does music bother you when you are bowling? Do you prefer to have silence so you can focus?

    3. Do you listen to any music to get your mind right or pump you up when you are on the way to go bowl? If so, what music in particular?

Is it against USBC rules to have headphones in while actually bowling?

I've bowled league with and without music. Focus is not a problem for me either way. But if having a real bad night the music helps get me into a better frame of mind. I cannot speak for rules but have seen I Pods used during the state tournament so my best guess is there are no rules on music via headphones, perhaps house sound systems is another thing.

The music is suppose to be a distraction. A way to let your mind go blank and just bowl. All the thinking should be done before you hit the approach. Ron Hatfield, Gold certified coach, suggests singing a song in your head. Your tempo will have a tendency to match the beat of the music so you can choose a song to match the tempo needed to adjust for speed, etc.
Personally, I won't wear headphones while bowling. Part of the reason I bowl is the social aspect and isolating myself that way would be counter-productive.

As long as the music is Acid Rock, I have no problem! I also like the strobe lights, when mounted just above the pin's. Add color lights flashing in differant patters, and ,,,,
Well perfect inviroment for bowling!! I do think headphones should be illegal, along with cell phone use while bowling, and everyone should be required to wear their safty belts! CALL ME Weird,,, but then maybe I am

I love bowling with music. But it's against the rules in a sanctioned league.

I may have to bring the headphones when I start sanctioned. I can take them off to talk. No music isn a stuffy thing.

Where does it state that music is against the rules in a sanctioned league? It may be against league rules but I haven't been able to find in the USBC rulebook where music isn't allowed..yet
