    Default Dull or Shiny?

Hello it's me again.. just want to ask.. why do Ryan ciminelli (cant remember his name) polish his ball? the Nexxus. Does it brings more hook? or if i'm not wrong it'll drive down the lane more before hooking.. so my question is.. when the ball we get in the pro shop is dull, is there a need to polish it? saw the nexxus in the video below.. I don't know my bowling center oiling pattern yet.. because they don't really tell people what's the bowling pattern unless there's an event and they re-oil the lanes.. Thanks all!

There is no one answer if a ball should be dull or shiny. Because it all depends on what your conditions are at the time you bowl and what the bowler wants their ball to do.

The out of box surface of a new ball might be perfect on your conditions or it might not. It could be too dull and read the lanes too early, but it could just as easily be too shiny and skid too far.
