This reminds me of the time I saw a pair of boxer shorts with the Burger King logo on them and big print across the front that said "Home of the Whopper". I asked my wife if I should get some and she said, "Do they have any from White Castle?" (And by the way I know there are no White Castles in Georgia, We have the same concept called 'Krysta'l but I figured more people on the boards were familiar with White Castle. True story however, only the resturant name was changed to protect the innocent)

What a frustratingly great night of bowling I had tonight in the doubles league me and Mike participate in.... I blew a 300 game AND an 800 series the following game... The 2nd game tonight I had the first 10, and I threw what I thought was a good ball off the hand for the 11th, and it just never came around! Hit really low in the pocket and left an ugly 2,8,10 split. Like I say, I didn't even choke, I felt comfortable and threw what I thought was a good ball. (Also, nearly shot a 300 practicing before league started.. Every ball was perfect, left a stone FLUSH 9 pin in the 8th frame and shot 279). Then the next game I just needed 1 more strike in the 10th frame (after having got one already) for an 800 series... then I just threw it bad... Came off my hand wrong and didn't have enough revs and it hit low in the pocket and left the 2,8. So I ended up shooting a freaking 796!! SO FRUSTRATED!!! So tonight I shot 256, 285, 255 (796), and 222 (1018).

This was the week we were going against the other first place team.. A couple 230 avg bowlers in this league. So after the first two, we were killing them.. My teammate had a 256, 255 the first two and we were leading by 85 pins. Then my teammate came back down near his avg the next games while the other guys started getting it going (Even though they were both already shooting very high the first two games). So we ended up losing the next two games AND we lost total by 16 pins. So we lost 3 out of 5 possible points tonight and now we're one game back out of first. One of the guys we bowled against shot 831 with his last 3 games. 5 weeks left though, we'll get back in first soon.

Mike and his wife won 4 out of 5 and the Iceman was carried by his wife tonight! She shot a 215 her first game! I think she averaged 174 for the night! We need Iceman and his wife to put a hurtin' on the first place team again like they did a couple weeks ago.. Iceman is the dragon slayer! We play Mike and his wife next week, should be fun.


Anyway, that's the recap tonight... Very frustrated and happy at the same time... It's going to be bugging me for awhile... I really want an 800 and a sanctioned 300. As good as I'm bowling though, I don't think it will be long. (Hope not).

I read that and it sounded bad. I meant the 300/800 shouldn't be too long before you get it, not the wave you are on

HIGHLITE of the afternoon was going down to NKC AMF, and trying out part of my secret weapon that I will be using This Friday!! They said go to lanes 9 and 10, and that it had not been bowled on since it was oiled! No pins, down on lanes, so that’s a good indicator that it was still not used!

I bowled the first game, and WHAT?? 158….. I thought what is going on!!! Changed balls several several times. Bowled 181 the next game! Nothing was working the way it normally did! Ball had good rev’s but not moving into the pocket, even when I laded it down soft, and low ball speed… OIL,,,, in the outer area down past the 34 foot area…. I then changed my delivery to a more direct approach, third arrow, while standing between first and second dot! Two spares,,, and then 9 strikes, and a spare! Had a 274!
The lane mechanic came down and the woman that works the office at the lanes and said that was the BEST SCORE bowled on that pattern, and in that league Sports pattern, the best was a 240!

It was Kagel oil machine (new one that sprays the pattern perfect, (so they say)! I was not told that it was a Sports Pattern, they were playing with me…. HONEST to god, the fist game I threw two gutter balls! I was sure that the machine that laid the pattern down was broken!! Wow does it freak you out when you think your bowling a simple house pattern and then for the FIRST TIME IN YOUR BOWLING carrier you come up against a SPORTS PATTERN I kept adjusting until I broke the code, and it worked the third game!
They said I should frame it,,, ( the 274), that it was called ( Turnpike)!!

I noticed next to me a guy that is a 220 bowler, almost went to Vegas this last year in the 200 average bracket. (he lost out by a few pins)!! He was struggling too… 142 160 ect… I thought what is going on,,, I know he is a much better bowler then that!!
After that experience, I joined a sports league coming up this fall with the Dude/Jason! I think it will be a huge learning experience for both of us! Wow… 274 on the turnpike,,, it’s a wonder I didn’t get a ticket!!! LOL

One cool thing also, TRENT, the pro that drilled all my balls, was giving lessons on the other lane next to me! So he seen the 274, on the Turnpike!!! What a experience!!! Better then 3 Dr Pepper’s!!

Now i NEED TO GO LOOK AT WHAT A KEGEL TURNPIKE IS!! (

Wow that is pretty direct delivery. Personally I played the Turnpike straight up 10 but your 274 beat whatever I had on that pattern (it was weeks ago lol)

Bowling on a sport pattern is humbling but does help tremendously. You learn how to read your ball reaction, how to adjust and how to target better. When you bowl in the sport league take a note pad and take notes. They will helo you tremendously next time you bowl that pattern as it will give you a clue where to start from.

You have NO IDEA Bill how hard I had to work, (thinking I was on a house pattern) to make it work!! I do write notes on my balls,,, I know that sounds weird, but I am talking about my bowling balls! Each time I take them to the spinner, I keep records as to what surface, ect,, ect,,, and that way I have a good understanding of what I might need in one of many different situations I might come across!...

It makes sense to do it on the sport patterns,,,, I just didn't know it was one!! They love to jack with me at the lanes!!! AND BELIEVE me it just about drove me crazy,,, finding the way into the pocket and then doing it from the 2 frame all the way into the ten frame,,,, two spares picked up then 9 strikes, and a 8 I beleive. I will get them!!! BELIEVE ME!! Don't jack with a burnt out vet!!! LOL.... (

Wow Mike, that's pretty impressive. Our pro shop guy here has been putting out Kegel WTBA patterns every wednesday over the summer, and it's a whole new ballgame compared to THS. I haven't shot anywhere close to a 274 on any of the patterns

I was honored to be invited to bowl with the team that won the Big Thursday Night Mixers League last year! We will have the pleasure of bowling with a TOP GUN line up!! Its official, Chad came up to me while practice bowling with The Dude! The Dude, Iceman, and Manic!!! Chad is the captain and I believe he has a 225-230 average!!! Chad did say he has another bowler that he will be inviting to the team that’s a 200 plus bowler! I just hope Jason and myself get out of prison in time for the league!! lol LOL.... You don't want to know!!!! (
