    Default Resurfacing

How often should I resurface my balls? My summer league just started and i wondered if it would be beneficial to resurface my balls.

it depends on how oily the lanes is and how early you want your ball to react..

Also remember there's a difference between a true Resurfacing which means removing all nicks, cuts gouges etc. making the ball look like new again.

and just refreshing the surface texture back to what you had it or making a texture change which you can do anytime you want.

I don't know anyone that repolishes/rescuffs their balls every 10 games and full resurface every 60 games. I know that's what Storm says, but sheesh, that gets really pricy fast. That's like $150 in ball maintenance for just one league over a whole season.

Honestly, the best thing you can do for your ball is to have a good ball cleaner and thoroughly clean your bowling ball(s) after every set. Then, I'll get my covers scuffed/repolished once/twice per year and I haven't noticed any loss of reaction. Full resurface every couple years.

In terms of games, probably something like a rescuff/repolish every 50-60 games, full rejuvination/resurface every 200 games, but obviously I don't actually count the games, its just an estimate. The important thing is to clean your equipment after every set, not let the oil soak into the coverstock.

I bowl three leagues during the fall season. every week I de-oil my balls, polish/sand as per what the ball requires. I average, with practice games, 30-40 games a week. I keep finger inserts in my bag and change them as I feel is needed.

150 dollars!!! how many balls is that for. During that one season. If it's for one ball thats a little high.

Also Cost is why a lot of people get their own spinner, a $150 to $200 for a spinner is a good investment.

As I said that Storm chart is just a basic guide and it's the same schedule recommended by other places. That doesn't mean you have to follow it to the letter.

Like doing a Full resurface (make it look like new), most don't do it unless they are getting rid of a ball or having to fix some like a gouge in the track.

Just use your own judgement if your reaction isn't changing leave it alone.

Well sure, add it up. If you freshen the surface every 10 games over 90 games in a normal league, at $10/freshen, that's $90. Then a $30 full resurface twice, it's $60 more. Ok if you only resuface once, that's only $120, but still. That's why I think Storm's chart is crazy.
