    Default 5 step question

iv been working on the 5 step approach to pick up more speed and its helping... my question is would it be a good idea to stay with the 4 on my spare shots? or learn the 5 step for them also?

I would use the 5-step for spare shots also. That way you will not be changing which foot you start with depending on if it is your first or second shot.

I agree. Footwork is too easy to get messed up so usually staying on both shots works better in the long run.
