practicing the 10-pin won't help with the 7-pin spare i think.. because i'm quite good at sparing the 10-pin (at least 80-85%) but struggle a lot with the 7-pin.. sometimes overhook into the gutter, sometimes not enough hook..

As a member of an amateur tour (ABT), I can tell you that placing focus on bowling clean is more important than just striking. When you are warming up, make sure and take a few shots at your 10 and 7 pins, even if you have a full rack. This will get you lined up when the shot comes up later. I cannot tell you how many times I have lost a match in tournament play or missed the cut by just 1 spare.

In my opinion, practicing single pins with a full rack also helps you to learn how to focus more. The bigger the distraction at practice the easier the same would be at a tournament or even league night. I love practicing while birthday parties are going on.

hopefully i'll have more clean games.. when i bowl clean games (or near it), i just keep telling myself, the strike will eventually come.. just don't miss for now (when i bowl good and hit the pocket but leave single pins.. sometimes the 8, most of the time the 10-pin but even when tough spares i tell myself that actually)..

Same here. Nothing will help you train your focus more than 5 screaming kids standing on the approach next to you.

if they "fly" backwards, it's bad enough.. but if they "fly" forwards towards the pins, wow that would be some stunt.. but be prepared to be killed by their parents.. lol..
