The Gent who delivered the course was extremely knowledgeable but lacked the skills on getting the message across

That's an issue for many skilled people. Putting into words so others can understand is hard when it's something that just comes natural to you.
I love math and physics, especially quantum physics. I never could help my daughter with her math schoolwork because I just couldn't grasp what she "didn't get." She just didn't get it and never could explain what it was that she didn't get. To me it was, what's so hard?
