Hi everybody. I've been lurking around the boards for a little while and must say I am impressed not only with the knowledge and great advice, but the lack of snarkiness and the better than thou attitude of some of the other boards. I used to bowl leagues back in the 80's and 90's but stopped after I got married and started a family. Sadly my wife lost a hard fought battle with cancer in '09 leaving me with an 8 year old son and 2 year old daughter who are now 11 and 5. My son really enjoys bowling so I am getting back into it with him. I look forward to catching up with all the changes that have taken place over the last 20 years.

Welcome to the boards. Glad to see another return to bowling. A lot has changed in 20 years but you will catch on quick.

My condolences on the passing of your wife. The cancer battle can really wear a family down and losing a loved one to it even more so.

Welcome. Since you are getting back into it along with your eleven year-old, I suggest you take a look at MYBOWLINGCOACH.COM. Excellent instructors and both you and your son can learn from some of the best coaches in the USA.
Their lessons talk about (and show) bowling techniques, advanced techniques and even bowling ball characteristics to make you a well rounded and knowledgeable bowler.

Welcome! I too am coming back from a layoff. My 7-year-old daughter is starting to show an interest now that I am getting back into it. We just signed up for the Kids Bowl Free summer program and added the family package for $25. It includes 2 games every day until September for all 3 of us. You may want to look into that.
