Welcome aboard! I think you'll like it here. Seems we have a lower population of ,shall we say, jerks than the general population.![]()
Hello everybody!
Figured that I should introduce myself to the commensurate. My name is James, and I got back into bowling 6 years ago. Went from a back-up bowling style, to no-thumb, and finally learned how to throw correctly. Currently residing in California and loving it. My honors scores are: 802 series and three 290 games. Look forward to learning more and getting to know everyone.

Thanks! Less jerks means more fun!![]()
Welcome! nice honor scores you have there! what style are you playing also? the tweener, stroker or cranker style?
Welcome James! Seems you have run the gamut with deliveries. Glad to see you settled with the "correct" way. I can be a sarcastic jerk but not a prima donna.

Welcome to the boards James. Very nice honor scores
Thanks again for the welcome. The last few years I have been a stroker bowler. I was square to the lanes on delivery, rested the ball in my palm, and usually played up the 10 board. This summer I'm working towards more of a tweener delivery; opening my hips and shoulders to the lane, placing the ball CG mostly on my index finger and adding more lift. This has moved me left a bit. I don't have a video yet; I need to add that with my practice session. My major struggles are to maintain balance at the foul line (I tend to fall to the right), rushing my footwork and jerking my delivery.
I was always a stroker too, hence the screen name, but it seems the modern equipment has made it harder to bowl that way. Truth be told I'm probably closer to a tweener than a stroker now. I suppose if you have the time and money to experiment you could drill up a ball that would play straight up the 10 board, but would probaby only work in one house on one pattern. Better to have an arsenal of balls that will allow you to find a somewhat comfortable shot on any condition.
