drilling options (less aggressive) question

i will be getting a new vivid ball, i typically get a standard drill layot, i plan on getting the vivid less aggressive.... How much of an impact will this have on the balls performance? Will it hook noticibly less? I have Alot of revs and medium speed so i will need it more tame

You can have it drilled for more length so that it will hook later but not necessarily less. This is how all but one of my balls is drilled. Obviously I like it but for comparison; HRR #1 drilled to hook early can only use on sport patterns. Hooks way too soon for me on a THS. Others have used this ball with success on our house shot. HRR #2 drilled to hook later PLUS sanded to 4000 grit abralon and 7 coats of polish. It's the ball I used in the Hell Raiser Revenge versus Nexxus video. I can use that ball on a THS but play very deep and come up the side more compared to my weaker balls.

yes i took your advice, i had the local pro shop sand and polish my dv8.. it was less aggresive but i dont like playing deep in the lane (middle arrow or left of it) so i usually use my other less aggressive balls (unfortunatelly i got it drilled in a typical layout)

Another option with your DV8 is to stand way right and roll it straight off your hand, let the ball do all the work.
See what the pro shop recommends for the Vivid but I'm sure they will go pin up and to the right some. If I'm understanding you correctly, you don't want to lose the aggressiveness but rather delay it long enough that you can play from the middle to the right?

well i got my DV8 HHR drilled for massive hook/arc out of the brunswick layouts cause DV8 and brunswick are close the same and could not find are DV8 layouts soo we went with that and the ball dose really well i got high revs soo a agressive ball should not be for me but i got a decent amount of speed soo it will get down the lane, then have a ncie move on the backend it just runs the pins off the lane.

with my HHR i have broke a total of 9 lanes at first in 3 weeks cause of the massive pinaction but then i had to ease up abit soo i dont keep breaking the lanes cause the owner only sends junk parts from old lanes at his other bowling allies that do not last long.

but its up too you on how you decide to get your ball drilled but remember the vivid is strong soo it will beable to hook pritty well even if it is weak i have seen 1 peron that dose not rev the ball much and he was making the vivid move pretty well and it was drilled mid and he threw it right up 5 board.

yea i want a delay, i prefer to be anywhere from the 2 and 3 arrow going left (im a righty) i dont typically do well going for the middle arrow or left of it

i guess more of a backend hook kind of hook your looking for uh.. straight down and hook in..

Etrain, have you tried playing from the gutter to the first arrow (5 board)? With just a little bit more hand this can be a very effective and mentally deflating to your opponent. I love playing real far right and watching my opponent shake his head at the ball being half in the gutter the first 45 feet and then snapping into the pocket. Very few people are willing to try and learn this line. I learned with my plastic ball just to ensure I didn't screw up an expensive ball.

Eugene, if thrown hard enough in the gutter I have had them pop up at the end and hit the rack. Any possibility of messing up a ball than can be avoided is what I try.
