Thread: Trying Left Handed

I didn't even try my fingers in the 2 I have, I'm not sure if I can handle a 16# left handed. The hardest part for me was starting with my left foot (4-step apporach). There were a couple of times that I started on my right and had to stop and start over. Every approch for both games, I would count my steps. 1...2...3...4, just like I'm teaching my daughter. Btw, she was doing much better last night. Her timing was good and we started working on a better arm swing. She only shot a 68 and 69, but that is right about where her average is and we added some new stuff for her to work on. Once she gets the arm swing down, we will start working on where to aim.

Hitting average while adding new stuff, pretty impressive.

That's what I told her. This is only the third time she has been bowling without the ramp, and she has gone from 2 handed between the legs to a 4-step approach 1 handed delivery. She is a very fast learner, but gets frustrated if it takes more than one attempt to get it right. I can't wait to see how she is doing by the end of summer.

Hopefully she sticks with it and the frustration doesn't get the best of her.

I just need to keep reminding her how far she has come. It should be pretty easy to keep her in good spirits. I just picked up a second job, so she is seeing less of me. Now she has become even more of a daddy's girl. As long as I catch it before she starts getting too frustrated, she should stick with it at least for the summer.

If I may be rude and ask, How old is your daughter?
Glad to hear you found a second job yet sad that you had to find one.

She's 7. She has always been a daddy's girl, but now our time is much more special. As for the second job, it is to help us reach our goals. My first job pays the bills, but with very little left over. My wife went through a terrible time with the c-section. She still has issues relating to that almost 8 years later. She has not been able to find a job that she can do, so it is up to me. We all do what we have to do.

Good luck with it all. I know all too well how hard it can be to balance it all. Even when you think the balance is right, don't be surprised to learn that your daughter doesn't really agree. It's unfortunate that they can't understand until they are in those shoes or at least much older but at the same time, you can never replace that time with your children. Don't blink or she will be graduating when you do.

Welcome to the darkside, my friend. So, all you bowlers who think it's so easy on the left, take notice. LOL!

I was taking my practice shots lefty Thursday night. One of the bowlers on the other team said something like "Oh no. You're a lefty. I hate lefties....." At the end of practice, I sat down, switched the soles on my SST8s, and got out a couple of right-handed balls. I'm not sure if our team beat his, since both teams had subs with no established average, but I beat the guy who made the comments 2 games out of three on his side of the lane. I hope the next time we meet our teammate Tom will be there. Tom is a natural lefty, and I'll definitely bowl lefty that night. Needless to say its a non-sanctioned summer league.
