This document acts as a guide to the specific considerations and
undertakings for your potential attempt on the Guinness World
RecordsTM category and is used in conjunction with the Record
Breakers’ Pack, which outlines the evidence required to prove
your attempt’s success. This should be read and understood by
all concerned with the record attempt prior to the attempt – this
includes every participant, organiser and witness.
These guidelines are specific to your attempt and must be
followed. Should any guideline be contravened, your attempt
will be disqualified, without any right of appeal.
Please note that, as detailed in the Agreement Regarding Record
Attempts, these guidelines in no way provide any kind of safety
advice or can be construed as providing any comfort that the
record is free from risk. Guinness World Records will not accept
responsibility for the safety of participants or bystanders in any

TENPIN BOWLING – HIGHEST PINFALL IN 24 HOURS
DEFINITION OF RECORD
This record is for the most pins knocked down within 24 hours – not the score.
This record is to be attempted by an individual.
GUIDELINES FOR ‘TENPIN BOWLING – HIGHEST PINFALL IN 24 HOURS’
1. The attempt should take place at a tenpin bowling centre on standard lanes.
Prior to the attempt the challengers should obtain consent in writing from the
owner/manager of the facility. A copy of this permission should be submitted
with the record claim.
2. Only one lane is to be used.
3. The format of play shall be pin fall, i.e. 10 pins are bowled at for each initial
bowl, followed by a second bowl at however many pins are left standing after the
initial bowl before the pins are reset to 10.
4. If during the attempt, the malfunction of a bowling machine occurs for a period
of longer than five minutes, then the bowler can be transferred to a new lane.
5. Balls used will be within recognised standards and there is no limit to the
number of balls in use.
6. Bowlers may bowl with the right or left hand at any time.
7. Lanes should be dressed once before the commencement of the attempt, and, if
necessary, if required by the venue used, lanes can be re-oiled. The participant,
therefore, should move to a new lane during re-oiling but must move back to
his/her original lane once re-oiling is completed.
GENERAL ‘MOST…IN 24 HOURS’ GUIDELINES
The name of the organisation, company or person(s) making the attempt must
be given, along with the date and place.
The event must take place in a public place or in a venue open to public
inspection.
No person under the age of 16 may attempt this record. Persons aged between
16 and 18 must be in possession of a document signed by their parent or legal
guardian, giving them permission to compete. This must be added to the log
book and witnessed before the attempt has started.
The event is continuous. The clock does not stop. 24 hours means a complete
24-hour cycle including rest breaks. For example, if the event starts at 12 noon
on Monday, it must finish at 12 noon on Tuesday.
The participant may take as many breaks as he/she wishes, but the clock must
not stop at any time for any reason.
A loud start and finish signal recognized by all participants must be used.
Two experienced timekeepers (e.g. from a local athletics club) must time the
attempt with stopwatches accurate to 0.01 seconds.

ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE
The activity you are attempting MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE on the video
footage as we will not be able to accept your claim. This comes from problems
we have encountered when trying to count legitimate push-ups.
The entire attempt must be filmed in case further evidence is required.
For times up to one hour, we expect the entire attempt to be submitted on video.
For events longer than this, a ‘highlights package’ will be acceptable but must
include the following points:
o Footage of the start of the attempt
o Two minutes footage every hour
o Any points where the claimant takes a break – a clock or timer must be
visible on screen, but not the camcorder’s own time display
o The point at which the record is broken
o The end of the attempt.
The camera must be focused on the attempt at all times and preferably be static.
Failure to include the required documentation will ultimately delay the outcome
of your claim or lead to its rejection.

My goal of 18,000 pins averages out to 12.5 per minute. I'm going to time some throws in practice tomorrow and see how many racks I can get in a minute.

I wonder if there is way to hook the camera up a portable hard drive and have it going directly onto that.
It's a Sony Handycam. I believe I might be able to do that. Could run a USB cord from the camera to the hard drive. Have to do some pre-testing. How bad would it suck ti break the record but not get it recognized due to a recording failure....

By their list there are a lot of potential things that can go wrong. I would try to build as much reundancy into the recording and timing as possible in case something goes wrong there is a back up already working.
You are correct, a lot of potential disaster awaits. I timed my tenth frame today. I was able to throw all three balls in 40 seconds without rushing too much. I'm going to work on timing the rack a little better so I won't have to wait until it's on the way up before I begin my approach.

Use a webcam connected to a laptop that is plugged in to provide continuous charge then use a video recorder program such as AVS video recorder to continuously record the session. You just need to make sure your laptop can handle that much video. Maybe get a 1tb external hard drive that you can have the video saved to.
Good suggestions. Thank you

Yea, I would definitely make sure you have at least 2 (pre-tested) methods of recording in case one should fail.
