How did they break down for you that they presented more of a challenge?
All flat patterns like the US Open pattern are challenging, but some will break down and open up with a concerted effort. So much depends on the bowlers using it.
I bowled last week on the US Open Pattern last Sunday. Tough pattern. Probably the toughest pattern for me especially when the lane starts to break down.
I took video of me bowling it
I started a thread here

I don't think i set it up properly for myself but I started off with my right foot board 30 target 15th board with a break point of 10 board or so. I should off started off more right because when I burned up my line I needed to move left and if I missed right it was out of bounds.
But yet again in a tournament. I would have that option anyways.
