i was having the same problems with my equipment also. i went out and purchased a brunswick "black diamond" , which is a more agressive ball than what i was throwing and it seems to have taken care of the problem. my first 2 practice games ( on oil) were a 231 and 269 and i carry a 180 average. the fingers are drilled with the pin at the right of them. i should have asked them the measurments but did'nt. they said for house conditions and tournaments , it's going to react real good, which it did. good luck

I played on this type of pattern this weekend, i used my Ebonite Magic it worked really well, its drilled to go long and hard, shot a 1216 on it (6 games)
