    First off the mechanic shouldn't be "tinkering" with the machine for the first night of bowling. I used to manage a house in New England and my mechanic and I worked together on setting the lane oil patterns. I always new what pattern was being put out and I actually printed it out and posted near the desk for everyone to see.

    Deffinitly sounds like you could use a more aggressive ball if you're going to encounter more of this pattern. Do machines malfunction? Sure they do, but good mechanics should be able to spot it and fix it right away. Good luck and try to keep your cool.
