What I am dealing with is trying to hook into the 2-8 and the ball either goes straight due to center oil or hooks to far left and takes only the 2 pin and then at times the 8 is the only pin hit. I have tried different angles, speeds and targets yet cannot seem to find the mark. I have tried using my spare ball with little success as well, it has a very slight hook and if I do not hit the 2 direct it sends the 2 pin right missing the 8. Also tried adjusting for the slight hook and end up with the ball rolling straight, again missing the pins, this has me puzzled more than I can say and can only think it is a lane condition issue with the line targeted!?....Or speed/release?

My 2 main balls are for heavy oil and wonder if I should go with a less aggressive coverstock, my thinking is it may help from over turning and be less angular?

But I am at a loss so I ask what suggestions you can toss my way that I can try to solve this problem!

And is there a way to practice(target line) picking up the 2-8 with a full rack?

Thanks in advance!

Dal

All I do is move my target two boards to my left (as if trying to hit the 5 pin on the brooklyn side). Another thing I've done in the past is use the spare ball, thrown straight and HARD from the one board at an angle to the backside of the two. Most spare systems would have you move your feet 4 boards right.
Shooting that spare with a full rack is very hard as you can't really determine if the ball took the correct trajectory.

That might be a good choice working from the one board and coming in at an angle as if going cross lane for the ten pin, if I am reading you correctly, only in this case the other direction. Sure have not tried this using my spare ball as I aim straight downlane at the 2. Perhaps this suggestion could work out. Did so much work on getting the spare ball into the ten pin and finaly getting that down. Only problem I see with this suggestion is I may go into the gutter as I did so many times with hitting the ten pin but I just kept moving in until the angle was in line to hit the 10.

I will try this out, thanks!

For the 2-8, i usually stand at 10 board. Draw a line toward the 8 Pin. and Shoot a hook shot along the path. Make sure u walk parallel to the path just like spare making. I draw the line right the the 8 pin if it is a shorter pattern, opposite for longer pattern.

I have constant success with this strategy 90+% conversion rate; however, It might not work for you unless you know how to throw a down&in strike shot ( so it travel along the path )
