I have decided that i'm going to get a new ball. But i want to find a very versatile heavy oil ball thats also gonna work on light, dry conditions. I have only ever used 1 ball and not multiple balls and have done pretty well. I wanna stick to just having one ball and picking up a 10pin is not a problem for me with a hook happy ball lol. I looked at the defiant for a long time, the Nexxus and Nexxxus, Vivid, And since i joined this forum i hear nothing but good things about DV8 balls. Ive never owned one of course. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks. If you need any info to help with a suggestion just let me know :)

I own a DV8 revenge and i only use it on the first game of league. Bill has a revenge and a terror, IIRC, bill mentioned that he uses the terror throughout the league night with no problem. im thinking of purchasing one for myself also.

My recommendation is a bowling ball with a pearl coverstock to give you length on the dry patterns, Nexxxus, Defiant Edge, or Hell Raiser.

I would suggest a pearl ball with no polish and low grit, around like 1500 or so. They have started making more dull pearl balls like the Motiv Primal TV4, Nexxxus f(P+S), Nexus f(P) Pearl or you can't a low grit polished ball and take the polish off, maybe something like the Lord Field Exodus Pearl, Storm Marvel Pearl, Hammer Epidemic or Motiv Raptor Attack. The reasoning behind me make this suggestion is dull pearl balls just make a lot of sense to me. They are pearlized which helps to get through the heads and since they are dull they rev up quick when it hits the dry with all the engery saved. I have had good experience with this combo works very well.

What in the world is a Lord Field Exodus Pearl? Is this a new or old ball?

Lord Field has been around for a couple of year, they are made in Korea. But say most of the materials are purchased from the USA to construct the balls. Not real wide spread.

I have been looking into the DV8 balls and they seem like one to definitely think about. I believe i seen one thats not out yet called the Nightmare?? What are your thoughts on that one. i know it may be hard seeing it not out yet. Or is that the wrong way to go?

Someone told me about pearl balls like the gravity nano pearl. But said nano pearl not as hooky as some other balls out there. Thats just what he said i have no idea, thats why im here asking questions to figure it out lol. The Nexxxus is in my top three right now. and a DV8 being in there too.

Given that the DV8 Nightmare doesn't call for any polish it will more than likely be a sanded or matte finish. These tend to burn up on low oil to dry patterns. Depending on how quickly your lanes dry out it may not last the series like you want. The Terror has good length with a sharp back end break. The polish cover definitely helps it clear the dry heads later in the series. I have been able to use this ball the entire night and the most I've had to move was 5 boards.
The Storm Hy-Road use to be my favorite ball for it's versatility. DV8 produced the Terror and it surpassed the Hy-Road for me.

Pearls do have less overall hook than solid and sanded equipment. However, if you want a ball that can work on lighter oil patterns, you have to compromise somewhere. Another ball that you might be interested in is the Brunswick Ulti Max.

Oh ok i got ya.....Well most nights i dont have to make a adjustment until the third game maybe 7-8th frame of game 2. Rarely do i have to in the first game. Yeah the terror sounds like the best bet so far then. When i do have to adjust its usually only 4-5 boards. Thanks

yeah i'm starting to notice that. So in one way or another a compromise will have to be made. I may just get a good heavy oil ball like a solid or sanded and polish my Columbia 300 action packed just in case. Is that something i could do or you think will work when the other ball wouldnt? Im trying to stay away from 2 balls but looks like i may have to for the first time...

The Action Packed is a pretty strong ball. Maybe just rejuvenate it or use a lower grit sand paper on it for a heavy oil condition. Polish it for a lighter oil shot.

When i first got it, it was amazing. the ball reaction was exactly what i had been looking for. then a couple leagues down the line it lost it. I never got it cleaned or cleaned it myself. Then i started to clean clean it and reaction changed but not to what it was. It had a shine/polish to it when i first got it that i havent been able to get back..... They changed the oil they use on there lanes and its heavy oil now when it used to be medium oil. that im assuming is the issue now. but before they did that must be because i took poor care of it where as now i clean it every night.

I have a Defiant that works really well on semi dry-heavy oil. I put some polish on the 3000 finish and used it for dry-medium and sanded it to 1000 no polish for heavy oil.

Get the Action Packed rejuvenated at a pro shop...or let it soak in warm water with a little degreaser to remove much of the dirt and grime. Try this before buying a new ball.

The first ball I thought of was the Brunswick Versa-Max. Good ball from what I understand. I would also highly suggest you get ahold of a Hy-Road. There is a good reason why so many pros carry a Hy-Road.

I heard it is versatile ball because of its core and the finish it has. So many choices!

I got some powerhouse adrenaline ball steroid wipes that were recommended to me in this forum so im gonna try them tonight before my league and see how it works. Should I still get it rejuvenated? And it that the same thing as being resurfaced?

Rejuvenation is different...the heat and soapy water remove the oil deep inside the ball. Resurfacing and wipes will not remove the deep oil.

Rejuvenating usually is referring to having the oil extracted using heat.
Resurfacing is where the ball is sanded to bring the surface back to a like new state.

Hello, sorry its been a while but i got a update for everyone. So i got it rejuvenated and ever since i have been bowling so horrible lol. Idk if its just me or what but my average has fallen from 215 to 195 in 3 weeks.......So i think that says and shows just how bad its been. I dont think i have bowled a 120 since i was 10. Maybe then using different oil or something or my ball it just dead. I have moved all over the place and i cant find the pocket. It does not hook really at all now. My bestfriend who is on my team has had bad luck to last few weeks also but his brother no problems. Any suggestions??

I'd say stand in front of the second arrow, throw it slow and watch what it does, then adjust from there until you find the pocket again. That and maybe leave a little oil on it so it will skid faster and then grab the lane. I did that with my marauder last night and it seemed to react very nicely that way.
