Looking to get a new ball for league play. Dont have much of a hook pretty much a straight ball bowler. I use a 15-16 lbs. ball. Lanes we bowl on are for the most part medium to medium heavy oil. This will be my first new ball in years. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the Boards! What kind of reaction are you looking to get out of your new ball? You say you throw fairly straight, but are you looking to throw more hook? Keep it straighter?

Welcome the the boards!!

If you want to keep a straight ball, plastic is the way to go:

if however you would like to try and develop a hook without being overwhelmed, there are balls that stay quite straight, but are enough to find the pocket at a half decent angle:

If going straight is all you're interested in then any ball will work. Going straight the oil doesn't have any impact.
