Thanks all, especially Blacksox on the premonition of the 7th to come. :)
Last night was a bit lackluster. Was sore from moving into new house this past weekend, but not using that as an excuse for how I bowled.
Game 1 started out pretty well, turkey to open up and then the fun began with a pocket 7-10. From then on had some real issues with carry and also with my targeting. 222
Game 2 same as game 1 carry problems. 208
Game 3 continued and could not buy a strike. 177
222-208-177 = 607
Spare shooting was my only saving grace all night, couple light hits leaving 2 buckets, 2-4-5, 2-8, 2-5-8, 3 10 pins, 7 pin, 8 pin, 9 pin......
Oh well, we had a good night. Took 3 to extend our lead in the 2nd half of the season. Teammate shot his 35th 300 last night.

Had a good night tonight on my Thursday fun league. 30 clean frames, 233-247-237 = 717.
No matter what I did, could not get more than 4 in a row going. At end of every 4 bagger would have a 10 pin or a 7 pin. 5 10 pins on the night, all converted successfully.

FTLOB, I use my Disturbed on Tuesday nights as it has been working really well. Might consider getting another, but can make one of my other balls work for me if need be whenever the time comes to retire it. :)
Game 1 came in late just after practice had finished so went in cold, but was fine and started with the front 4 and ended with a clean game and a 257!
Game 2 started off in much the same fashion as game 1 with a few frames where I increased my speed unnecessarily and left a 4-8 in one frame and then a 10 pin in 9th frame which I missed. Then struck out in 10th frame for a 234.
Game 3 started with front 5 then picked my speed up for a frame and left a 2 pin. Next time up not wanting to get too fast, got too slow and went through the nose leaving Big 4, which I then proceeded to chop the 6 pin not even getting the 10. Then struck until last ball of fill frame leaving a 6 pin for a 251.
257-234-251 = 742
All in all a great night with 2 open frames and just kills me that I missed a 10 pin. Have been really good at those lately. As a team we took all 4 with our anchor edging me out this week by 2 pins.

Thursday fun league and had another nice night of bowling.
Game 1 with Hyper Cell started with a double then got ball inside too far in the oil and it just scooted down the lane for a light hit and left a 2-10 split, proceeded to pick it up though  Followed that up with the next 5 before going a bit high flush and leaving a 4 pin. Struck out in 10th frame for a nice start and a 257.
Game 2 started with strike, then dropped speed and went high leaving 3-6-9-10, smashed the pocket and not sure which pin it was, but it moved into the 5 pin spot and was spinning around and wiggling, but did not fall. Light next time up, likely compensating for last time on this lane when I went high and left 2-4-8 and left the 8 pin standing on the conversion. Turkey before going heavy again from ball speed and leaving 4-6-7. Turkey and then 4-7 in the fill for a 204.
Game 3 started with turkey, then smash pocket but leaving 2 back row pins 7 and 8, which I converted. Ran off the next 5 and with possibility of maybe winning the game for the team, I left a bucket and picked 2 off of the conversion try. Was already mad at myself for not making a better shot and kept my shot in the oil too long and my ball just slid down the lane with not enough time to make the move to take all 4 pins out and a 240 to end the night.
257-204-240 = 701
All in all a good night, was in pocket most of the night, but my ball speed at times got the best of me. Sometimes slow, other times when I tugged and kept ball inside the oil going light. To my surprise, I did not leave a 10 pin all night. This house and from my prior weeks is notorious for 10 pin leaves. Split shooting was actually better than my multi-pin spare conversion rate on the night, only 33% on my multi pins, but 66% on my splits, LOL.
Ah well, next week.
Bowling a 4 man team tournament this weekend. $3000 guaranteed for 1st place. We have a good team built and hope to place in it.

Just a blah night. No carry and couldn't hold my line or speed for much of the night.
Game 1 starts of in grand fashion missing the head pin entirely land leaving 1-2-4, double, 10 pin, 2-7, 1-8, super washout where I proceeded to only pick out 2 pins, strike, 6-10, double in 10th with a 2-8-7 in the fill. Like I said, all over the darned place and a 194.
Game 2 starts out looking better, seems like I pulled my head out of my arse and start with a strike, and then the carry issues begin 10 pin, 9 pin, double, get way too fast and ball just sails down the lane leaving 1-2, 4 bagger before going light again leaving 2-4-8 in fill frame for a 234.
Game 3 starts with 10 pin, turkey, fast again 2-4-10, 2-5, double, 10 pin, 10 pin in 10th and then for good measure another 10 pin in the fill LOL and a 212.
I know it wasn't the ball all night, and was certainly me and my horrible speed management on the night. Those last 3 10 pins, had they not been at the end of the game, certainly would have prompted me to make a ball change. Was hard to change ball up knowing I was all over.
194-234-212 = 640
Ah well, next time.

Thursday night fun league.
Practice started out not so great, which for me typically means by my last ball of practice I have found where the miss area is. If I start striking on my first ball and all after that in practice, I am usually in for some trouble. Not sure why, but that seems to be what happens.
Game 1 started with the front 8 before I went a little fast on speed and left the 2-8, 10 pin in 10th and another 10 pin in the fill for a nice 266.
Game 2 started out with the front 5 before laving a 10 pin, doubled and then bit of speed picked up leaving a bucket which lately I have been having trouble converting, left the 5 pin standing. Punched out in 10th for a 243.
Game 3 started with turkey before leaving a nice pocket 7-10 split. Ran off the next 5 before leaving another 2-8(my 3rd bad shot of the night) and finally a strike to end the night and a nice 242.
266-243-242 = 751
All in all a great night. Had good carry, couple messengers taking out 10 pins and only 3 bad balls all night that were not flush in the pocket. Made a couple adjustments due to 10 pins left standing and also to nearly leaving 10 pins to keep up with some transition. Was actually moving right vs. moving left tonight. On to next week.

Tuesday league:
Rough night with carry, nothing extra was falling my way.
Game 1 started with Disturbed and a pair of 10 pins, then a 9, struck before leaving 2-10, struck, 8 pin, strike, 10 pin, 2 pin, and changed ball to Hyper Cell in fill to test and ended with strike for a lowly 185.
Game 2 was more of the same even with different ball, 8 pin, strike, 4-9 converted, pocket 7-10(not converted), 10 pin, 9 pin, changed ball again to First Blood and struck, 6 pin which I flagged when spare ball hung up on my thumb, turkey and a 10 pin in the fill for a 193.
Game 3 using the First Blood I was lofting a couple feet to delay reaction started with a double, 9 pin, turkey, 3 pin, 6 pin, and punched out for 247.
185-193-247 = 625
Hadn't used the First Blood in quite awhile as the Disturbed has been working so incredibly well for me. Good to know the ball still has something in it. Spare shooting was really good 4/4 on 10 pin. 92% on all single pins, danged ball hanging up on my thumb kept me from 100% on the night.

Thursday night fun league.
Another bit of a frustrating night due to carry. Nothing but strikes in warm up, and that is usually indicative of a tough night.
Game 1 with Hyper Cell started with 4 bagger, 10 pin, which I just missed to the right about 2 feet in front of ball. Went heavy 3-6-9, turkey, 10 pin and 3-6 in the fill for a 234.
Game 2 10 pin, strike, 10 pin, 6 pin, changed ball to Distrubed and doubled, 7 pin, 4 pin, strike, 2-8 and strike in the fill for a 207.
Game 3 stuck with Disturbed and a 9 pin, 10 pin, double before going light and leaving 2-10(converted), strike, bit heavy and left 4-7, then punched out for 237.
234-207-237 = 678
Carry on back row on the night was my problem. Missing 10 pin in game was only open on the night. I'll take it though.

Tuesday competitive low volume house league
Game 1 I had trouble finding pocket on right lane for most of the game, would hit light leaving a 2 pin or a 2-10(my only open all night) but was able to take advantage of some adjustments and finish with 194.
Game 2 Tried to switch ball up on right lane to something a bit stronger(Hyper Cell) and left 7 pin first time up with it. Next time on right lane was 10 pin so it wasn't working for me. Back to Disturbed and started to string a few together altering speed and target and ended with 233.
Game 3 had front 5 before leaving a 7 pin, on the... you guessed it right side, struck, another 7 pin, double before leaving yet another 7 pin and a nice 248.
194-233-248 = 675
All in all a good night. Carry just didn't go my way, was pocket all night long, the right side lane just wouldn't cooperate with me.
Spare shooting was very good, 4 7 pins and 3 10 pins.

Tuesday competitive league.
Last night was position round. In our league of 40 teams, we have 2 divisions. Each place in each division bowled against each other. We were in 1st for our division so we bowled for 1st place.
In warm ups we noticed that left lane wasn't hooking as much, 2 board difference for me. People were leaving 10 pins on that side as well during warm ups.
Game 1 started with strike, then pocket 7-10 on left lane(great, this is gonna be a fun night ), ran off the next 5 before going a bit fast leaving 2 pin, smash pocket and had a 5 pin that refused to fall - wobbled-tipped-rocked. 10 pin in 10th frame before I sent a test shot in the fill to try and find a new line on left lane leaving a 3-6-10 and a 222 for the game. As a team we took the game by 45 pins. Was close all the way. Anchor had a nice 279 game, 9 pin stood for him in 8th frame.
Game 2 started with double, 10 pin, turkey, 10 pin, 4 pin, turkey in 10th for a nice 238. Team took game by 65 pins. Our 2nd bowler had 288 for the game, had front 10 before he went inside a bit leaving a 9 pin and flagging it to end his game.
Game 3 we all started to struggle a bit with transition. Left lane was still messing with me. Started with strike, 3-10(left lane), strike, 3-6-9-10 which I left 10 pin standing for my 2nd open, strike, 10 pin, 6-10, and then I finally decided to make a bigger move on both lanes having been frustrated the past couple frames and punched out with the last 5 and salvaging a 216 game. Team lost this game by 65 pins, but good thing here is we were actually down 150 pin going into the 7th frame. We pulled ourselves together to cut the lead and not give up totals. All in all a successful outing for the team.
222-238-216 = 676
Looking at the stats by lane:
I struck 15 times on the right lane leaving only a 5 pin and a 6-10 leave.
I struck 8 times on left lane(3 to end game 3), left 4 10 pins, pocket 7-10, 2 pin, 4 pin, 3-6-10, 3-6-9-10 and a 3-10.
The left lane was giving the other team fits with 10 pins all night as well.
Definitely a tale of 2 very different lanes. Should have adjusted more and sooner.

Thursday fun league.
Warm ups I was really sore. Had been working on stuff at home. Loosened up enough to get some of the kinks out.
Game 1 started with 10 pin, then ran off the next 7, before getting ball a bit inside my line and leaving a 4 pin, doubled in 10th and a 2-4 on a test shot in the fill for a 267. We won by 95 pins.
Game 2 got way too slow in first shot leaving big four. Struck and then struggled on right lane leaving a mixer 8 pin, 10 pin, strike, 10 pin, strike, too fast leaving 1-2-8-10, then made ball change on right side after struggling all game and punched out to win the game by 11 pins but only a 191.
Game 3 my ball changed worked(Hyper cell on left, Disturbed on right) and ran off front 7 before getting speed up slightly and leaving 4-8, 10 pin, strike to start 10th and then flagged a 10 pin for a 256. Had been a little while since I had missed a 10 pin. Needed to strike out to win game by 1 pin, but 10 pin got me that game and put an end to our roaring come back lol.
267-191-256 = 714

Aw man....nothing worse than a ringing 10 in the 10th when you need a strike to win :(. Especially if it's a ball that felt good coming off your hand.....you get so hopeful watching it go down the lane, and then BAM.
At least it was only in the "fun" league :)

Worse than a ringing 10 pin, is when your team has a comfortable lead going into the 10th, and you leave a 2-4-10, only to have their anchor bowler strike out.
One guy on their team was celebrating each strike as they made their come from behind victory.
The problem was, they hadn't quite done their math correctly, so all I needed to do was pick up the 2-4 to win by one pin.
I told the celebrator, that he may have spiked the ball on the 5 yard line, then proceeded to get those 2 pins.
Talk about a sad face when the score showed up on the screen.

Tuesday competitive league.
Warmups I was sore again from household projects and took a little bit of time to warm up. My grip on the ball was the worst part, felt like I was going to drop the ball.
Game 1 started with a wide shot and a 2-4-8-10 split as my only open. Smash 9 pin, double, 10 pin, 4 bagger, 2 pin, and a test shot leaving 4-6-10 in the fill for a 223.
Game 2 10 pin, 4 bagger before leaving a smash 8 pin, 10 pin, 4 pin, strike, too much speed and 2-4-8, and strike in the fill trying another line and a 227.
Game 3 struck, too much speed 2-8, turkey, 10 pin, 4 pin(lanes really starting to move), 10 pin, 4 bagger to finish out with a 237.
223-227-237 = 687
As a team we lost first by 26 and then took last 2 and totals. Last 2 games, each member was 200+ with scores so we were clicking as a team. We are up 5 games in the league now. Have to keep it going!!

Spent a little time today looking at some stats on PinPal. I looked at the last season and this season so far to see where I was at. Essentially at the same place I was last year in average. Take a look. Left side is last season(2013-14), right is 2014-15 season so far.
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/Vdubtx/2%20year%20comparison_zpsoehktc5z.jpg (http://s43.photobucket.com/user/Vdubtx/media/2%20year%20comparison_zpsoehktc5z.jpg.html)
In 2 leagues just like last year. This year though, my averages for both houses are the same. Last year I was 12 pins higher on Thursdays than on Tuesday. Figured out some things on Tuesdays low volume-higher friction house.
Good thing to come out of my coaching lessons last summer and my practice throughout the fall season is my single pin spare shooting has improved. Single pin has improved a total of 4% points to last year. 10 pins are the biggest here as that is what I leave the most. Up to 90% conversion now vs. 86%. Other single pins are better than last year also. But, with 10 pins, I am leaving more 10 pins this year. I looked at it as how many I leave per 10 frames and I am leaving 1.11 per game vs 1.04 last year. Also took a step further listing multi-pin spares, which was a bit worse than last year as well as my most left splits.
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/Vdubtx/Leaves%20details_zps2oj3rdky.jpg (http://s43.photobucket.com/user/Vdubtx/media/Leaves%20details_zps2oj3rdky.jpg.html)
One thing I was hoping to come out of going through this exercise is a smoking gun as to what I am doing and what I can do to improve. It appears that I am leaving more lighter pocket hits(2 pins, 2-8's, 2-4-5's, and 2-4-5-8(buckets) this year vs. last year. Most likely cause would be an issue with speed control. Think with the 2-4-5 and bucket, I will start going straighter at those in my next practices to see how that turns out. Remembering back to when I do miss those, it is typically the 5 pin that is left standing.
Some things to work on in my next few practices leading up to State tournament in April and then Nationals in May. Will be getting some practice on the National lane patterns at the ITRC in the next couple weeks as well.

Tuesday Night league:
Rough night of carry for me. Was in the pocket pretty much all night and just did not have good carry. Seems like the other team would barely hit pocket or go high and got all the carry for the night.
Game 1 - bit too much speed 2-8, strike, 2 pin, 2-5, double, smash 9, strike, pocket 7-10 split, 10 pin and strike in the fill and was only able to muster a 195 game out.
Game 2 - struck, 10 pin, bit slow going high and a 4-7, ran off the next 7 before being stopped by a 10 pin and a 257 game.
Game 3 - struck, slow going right through the nose 4-6-7-10, struck, 10 pin, turkey, 2-8, 10 pin, strike, 10 pin to finish out with a 199.
195-257-199 = 651
6 danged 10 pins on the night, all converted. Pocket 7-10 always tick me off, almost had another but the 7 was kicked out late.

Extremely rough night for me. Left lane the head pin was just off to the left of center, and right lane the 3 pin was just to the right of it's spot. I have told the center before they needed to fix this pair as the hand dryer barely works either. Seems they just don't care.
In any case, with those 2 offset pins, there were some weird leaves but that wasn't the only thing. I was just a bit off on my shots tonight too, so compound those things together and it doesn't equal anything good.
Game 1 started with a strike, 7 pin, double then one of those weird leaves a 4-8 which I got too fast with on attempt and picked off the 8 pin, 6-10, turkey before leaving a 4 pin and flagging it. Doh! 203
Game 2 started with 4-6-7, 10 pin, turkey, another weird leave 4-7-8, strike, 2-4-8-10, 3-6, double and 10 pin in the fill for a 201.
Game 3 10 pin, 7 pin, double, another weird 4-7-8, strike, and get this... a 3-4-10 split(how is that for the weird leave?), greek church (face palm), strike, 10 pin and strike in fill for a lowly 180.
203-201-180 = 584
This was only my second sub 600 series in this house in at least 18 months. Gonna talk to the center manager again about the off spot pins as that really wreaked havoc on pin carry, for not only me, but all of us on the pair.

Sounds like a tough time, when the lanes are not right it's really frustrating! Hopefully they'll get the mechanic working on getting those problems fixed !

Disturbed was in pocket all of game 1, but was just not kicking out the corners. Switched to First Blood and struck out in 10th frame.
In game 2 ran off the next 11 before guttering. I don't even remember what actually happened and how I dumped it, I just know I was in my stance, started my approach with my eyes on my target down lane, my arm swings and the ball proceeds to drop in the gutter about 35 feet down the lane. Ball hits something in the channel and pops back up on the lane.
Game 3, after that embarrassment, had the front 5 and then smashed the pocket leaving a 7-9 split.
Shot pretty well tonight. Atleast it feels that way anyway.

Sorry to hear about that 12th frame, nice comeback to finish out the last game strong, that's a tough way to lose a 300 game.

I posted on here earlier that I actually saw somebody do that with the final ball of a perfect game. In his case, he smacked his leg and the ball immediately dropped in the gutter.
Just shake it off and laugh about it vdub....you're still one of the best bowlers on here.

Thanks Bubba. Yea, that is about all I could do was laugh at the situation. Funny to see after the ball jumped out of the gutter and what it left standing on the lane. It left the 1-5-7-10 LOL.

Thursday Fun League
Back at it again tonight. Thought all yesterday and today about my gutter ball moment and what the heck did I do. One of my team mates told me tonight that I slipped on the approach and my right shoulder was way lower than normal. Guess the helps explain my gutter.
Game 1 was on it, had the front 10 before going slightly high leaving a 4 pin and a nice start to the night with a 289.
Game 2 started with a 10 pin, got a little quick the next few frames leaving a bucket and a 2-5(which I then picked off the 5), another 10 pin, turkey, 7 pin, pocket 7-10(ugh!), 7 pin again then strike in the fill for a 188.
Game started strike, 4 pin, turkey, 10 pin, turkey, 10 pin, 4-9 in the fill for a 236.
289-188-236 = 713
4/4 on 10 pins. Only make-able open was the 2-5.

Consistent night for me.
Game 1 Started with strike, 2-7-8, 2-4-5 which I pick the 5 off of it, turkey, 10 pin, strike, 10 pin, strike, and another 10 pin for a 204.
Game 2 changed balls as didn't like entry angle and leaving 10 pins and strike to start, 2-5, turkey before getting a bit slow and going through the nose and a 3-6-9, strike, 4 pin, strike and a 2-5 which I then picked off the 2 pin from it and a 205.
Game 3 strike, 4 pin, 10 pin, 7 pin, another 10 pin, change balls again and struck, washout 1-2-4-10, 2 pin, turkey before leaving 6 pin and a 204.
204-205-204 = 613
So close to triplicate LOL! Carry was just not on my side. Told my team mates that I guess I need to stop smashing the pocket so much and hit light to get better carry. :D:
Single pin spare shooting was perfect, it's the multi-pins that got me tonight. Washout, 2-4-5 and 2-5 got the best of me. Guess I was just not focused on those conversions.

Another blah night for me. Just an off week, so busy at work so had that on my mind all this week.

Not much to report frame by frame other than had the front 5 game 1 and then poor carry, pair of pocket 7-10's to end the game.

Successful night on the lanes for me. 30 Clean Frames!! Woohoo!!
Think the practice I had Saturday at the ITRC on the USBC Open Nationals patterns helped a bunch. I was pretty accurate targeting, just my speed on a few shots were a bit off.
Game 1 speed was a bit high and went light leaving 2-5, turkey, 2 pin, 9 pin, double, pair of 10 pins and a strike to end the game at 226.
Game 2 strike, 10 pin, 4 bagger, 4 pin, 4-7, turkey and 7 pin in the fill for a nice 246.
Game 3 10 pin, 7 pin, 5 bagger, got way out leaving a 1-4, double and 10 pin to end the game with another 246.
226-246-246 = 718
30 clean frames, 61% strikes, 12/12 on single pin spares(5/5 on 10 pin).
As a team we took all 4. We battled it out with our opponents and was close all the way up to the 9th frame of games 1 & 2. They had us by 20 pins both games and we came back and took it. Game 3 was a blow out, we won by 150 pins.
Back up in first place after dropping some most of the games the past several weeks.

Thursday fun league
Game 1 struck, 3 pin, strike, 2-8, ran off the next 7 before leaving smash 9 in 10th for a 259.
Game 2 started much of the same going dutch the first few frames - 2-4, strike, 10 pin, 4 bagger, 7 pin, strike, 2 pin and 3-6-10 on a test shot in fill for a 226.
Game 3 started with double, 10 pin, got light just enough to leave 2-4-8-10, turkey, 4 pin, double then a 7 pin in fill of 10th for a 221.
259-226-221 = 706
Having a good week, went 30 clean on Tuesday and went 29 last night.

Well the tournament wasn't a complete bust. Shot real well, just didn't have very good carry. So many corner pins!! Those freaking tenpins got the best of me this weekend. A bit out of character for me in that I missed several.
Team event we were in Division 2 as we had a few lower averages we shot a 3182 total. That included 84 total pins of handicap.
636 series for me with games of 225-185-226 = 636
3/6 on 10 pins on the day which were my only opens. No splits. Should have easuly had a 670 series without my lapse with 10 pins.
Doubles event partner and I were going into it scratch so Division 1.
639 series with games of 224-204-211 = 639. Partner shot 645.
2/4 on 10 pins for the set, 1 4-9 split and a super washout on my very first ball to begin as my other opens on the event. Should have had 660+ series with those missed 10 pins.
Singles event I was scratch so Division 1.
655 series with game of 184-227-248 = 659.
2/2 on 10 pins, 4/4 on 7 pins, 3/3 on 2 pins.
Total All Events - 636-639-659 = 1934
For the weekend, only 58% on 10 pins which is way lower than my current 90% conversion rate this entire past season in 2 leagues. Was missing just barely to the left of the 10 and it cost me dearly. Should have been a minimum of a 2000 showing. The other corner pin stood much more in the 9 games than I would have liked. Was up 8 times in total.
Used Hyper Cell to start each day. Transitioned to Disturbed in team and then First Blood to finish out last game. For doubles/singles transitioned to IQ Fusion and then to Disturbed in the last game. Should have gone to the Disturbed much earlier. IQ Fusion was doing well for me though after I did a test shot with it, so stuck with it even though it was finishing much stronger than I typically like. Left that smash 4-9 a few 4's with that ball.
My targeting on the lanes was really good all weekend. I was in the pocket 95% of the time. Only 1 split the entire weekend, a smash 4-9 in doubles event. I think that was pretty successful given the carry I had with 12 10 pins and 8 7 pins.
No idea where that puts me or the team in standings. Guess will have to wait and see how the field plays over the next couple weekends. June 6 and 7 is the last weekend for the tournament.
Feeling confident about my game on tournament conditions after the weekend. Can really see the work that I have put into my game and how it is translating to the lanes. Need to keep it going and keep my mindset in the right frame for a another month going into El Paso and completing our leagues. Especially finish out strong on Tuesday, we are barely grasping to the #1 spot in the league. Could potentially be a pretty nice payout.

Not a whole lot to report this week.
230-202-192 = 624 Tuesday, didn't feel like I rolled it very well. Just not getting reaction I wanted from any of my balls that night.
237-246-198 = 681 last night.
Was clean through 24 frames and then left a big 4. Didn't think the shot was deserving of that, but that's the breaks. Went back and forth with strike, 10 pin, 7 pin..... 10th frame 10 pin and I whiffed it. By that time we were up by 61 pins with only their anchor to bowl. He was on a double so I knew the max amount he could get in 10th frame was 60, we ended up winning by 17. So we squeaked that one out and split the series with them. They shot 896 game 2 scratch with 4 team members. Their lead off is only a 140 average bowler, she shot 181(her highest game).

Yes, Aslan I had an off night with that 200 to end it. LOL. Lost all carry in that last game and the lanes really turned sour the last half of the game for everyone on our pair. As a team we took the first by 13 pins, lost the 2nd by 6 and lost third by 50. All in all not a good April and May for the team thus far. We have given up 1st place and are now 5 games back from the lead.

Another night of horrible carry for me.
Game 1 204 started with 3-4-6-7 and then 9 pin, turkey before starting to leave 8 pin, 4 pin, 4 pin, stike and then started 10th frame with 3-4-6-7(converted this one) and struck to finish out.
Game 2 155...yep, read that right. My lowest score in 2 seasons of bowling since keeping track. I was in the pocket every shot but 1 frame, leaving a washout 1-2-4-10. 2 pocket 4-9's, 2 7 pins, 10 pin, 4 pin, 9 pin. Made moves each time I went too high in pocket and same results. Changed ball in 1st frame and then again 10th frame.
Game 3 257, started with a 4-9, 5 in a row, 10 pin, 4 bagger and a 9 pin in the fill.
Needed that last game just to salvage at least a 600 series.
204-155-257 = 616

See...the 150s score wouldn't ever bother me if the series ended up 600+. It bothers me when I throw 191-189-139. Some centers are harder than other...some conditions not favorable...some nights not your night. Sometimes a < 600 series happens. It's when a 590 night turns into a 530 night because of a game where ya just mentally fall apart...That's what annoys me.
Hey...maybe I'm biased because my highest sanctioned score is a 256...and I probably am....but any night ya throw a 257 is a good night....as long as you walk away with at least a 500 series.

Dropping the ball behind you on the back swing maybe? I have not done that in probably 30 years but have done it. Very embarrassing and hopefully you don't do it.
Lets hope it's not what happened to a teammate a few years ago, he went to the bar and put on his shoe covers and then forgot to take them off and went right up to bowl, slid and flipped backwards, looked like a cartoon with him getting airborne and landing ball first as his feet went out from under him when the ball was near the top of his back swing and he went down hard. After laughing for several minutes we checked and found he wasn't injured.

Last night was just a bit off. First of all, the last night to pay our dues, and a team mate was 4 weeks behind. Missed paying 1 week earlier in the season, and never paid the last 3 weeks in dues that we were supposed to. To top that off, he is out of town for the summer so no way to recoup that money until last night of bowling when we reduce his "cut" of the winnings.
newly re-drilled Roto-Grip Uproar. Had been wanting to try something different with this ball since last year when I got it and when it didn't perform as advertised as a medium-low oil ball. The thing was just so snappy and just not controllable in general. If you have bowled on over/under conditions before, the ball acted like this a lot. Sometimes would hook out the building. Needless to say, I never even used it in league unless I was practicing. In other words a paperweight. Not to waste $160 on a bowling ball, I wanted to do something to see if it would work for me.
Started game 1 with my newly revived(maybe) Uproar and started with a double, seemed like the new drill tamed it down a bit. Went a bit fast and the ball didn't have time to finish for me leaving a 1-2-10 washout. 4 pin, double, 10 pin, 4 pin, strike, 10 pin and strike in the fill for a 203.
Game 2 I stuck with the Uproar, even though when I made adjustments for the 4 pins, I was then leaving 10 pins. 10 pin, 10 pin, strike, 4 pin, 4 pin. Time for a change, went to distrubed and tugged first shot with it leaving 3-6-10, turkey, smash 8 pin, and strike in the fill for a 214.
Game 3 stuck with my Disturbed and started with front 4, bit too fast leaving 2 pin, double, 10 pin, double and 4 pin in the fill for a nice 247.
All in all a good night, have to figure out the Uproar since I put a little bit more money into it. If doesn't work for me, will just give up on it and get a different light oil ball that I don't have to play so deep or far down lane. Storm Ride is the front runner for me.
203-214-247 = 664
Was a perfect 12/12 on single pins spares, 5/5 on both 10 pin and 4 pins. Only miss on the night was not taking out the 10 pin on the 1-2-10 washout left in game 1.

Thursday night fun league:
What started out to be a good night, fell flat on it's face.
Game 1 started with Hyper Cell and a double, 4-7, ran off the next 7 before leaving an 8 pin for a 267.
Game 2 continued with Hyper Cell and a 10 pin, double and another 10 pin, strike, 4 pin, 10 pin, 6 pin, 10 pin, 6-10 and then strike in the fill. Tried a ball change(to my newly re-drilled Uproar) in 10th frame and went high to start, but struck with it. Made adjustments for each single pin leave, but with each move, just left something else. Grr...
Game 3 smashed pocket but left the good old 7-10 split, 2-4-5(man this ball is so over-under), 4 pin, 2-5, 4-7-10, changed to my Disturbed and struck, 3-6 by sir tugs-a-lot, turkey and then a 4 pin for a lowly 190.
The newly re-drilled Uproar is still not working all that well for me. Made some good shots and kept my speed in check. Over/Under reactions from the ball is not a good sign to me. Will be looking to pick up the Storm Ride this week.
Need to get some practice this week as well. Just been so busy with work and home stuff to get to the alley on a weekend. Hoping I can get off early on Friday and maybe get a few games in. My nephew, who also likes to bowl is coming this weekend for Memorial Day, so I am sure we will go bowling at least once either Sunday or Monday.
Nationals coming up next week(bowl on Thursday and Friday next week on evening squads) and feel like I am not ready for them. Have only had 1 practice on the conditions so far. Guess will just have to go with the mindset of making good shots and repeating them.

Vdub with your success with the Hyper Cell and Disturbed maybe its just solids fit your game better. You might be better off looking at a less aggressive solid or hybrid that can still clear the heads. Maybe Arson Low Flare, Tag, or Boost.

Amyers, I think you are right. Have thought about that as well, solids are really better for my game. First Blood excluded as that ball has served me well.
Have certainly thought about the Arson Low Flare, how has that ball been for you?

05-18-2015, 12:28 PM
To be honest I haven't got to throw it a lot yet I have maybe three games on it. I've been having big issues with swelling in my thumb and can't seem to get anything off my hand consistently other than my spare ball. From what I've seen so far it's a little different than I expected. It's a little stronger than I thought it would be and is longer than I thought which was a nice surprise on the length it is longer than any ball in my bag still generates a lot of angle of entry but in a much more controlled way than my other balls I would call is a slurve. So far I'm pretty happy with it I wouldn't mind if it loses a couple of boards in the strength department once it gets broken in. I bought that ball for control on worn conditions on older wood lanes. My best guess with your higher ball speed it would make a good choice for a step down piece for games 3 and 4 of a set.

I think I finally got the thumb right for a night at least had my PSO work on it again last night and didn't have any problems for the fist time in about a month. Shot 193-215-233 with the Arson Low Flare last night which is a miracle if you would have seen the way I have been bowling the last few weeks. The 233 at the end should have been much better x9-xxxxxxx81 pulled a shot in the 10th that left a5-10 but moved the 10 pin all the way over next to the 5 and then chopped the 5 off of it . I end up playing pretty far inside on these older wood lanes in this house the arson allows me to relax and just play a nice tight line up 15 out to about 11 and just pop it right back in to the pocket.
vdubtx
05-20-2015, 11:57 AM
Good to hear you got the thumb issue worked out.
Last night for me was another frustrating one. Yet again, poor carry.
Game 1 Strike, 6 pin, 2-8, double, 2-4-10, strike, 4 pin, strike, 7 pin, 6 pin in fill for a 194
Game 2 Strike, bucket, strike, 10 pin, strike, 10 pin, smash 9 pin, strike, 4-7, 10 pin and 6 count on a ball test for a 190.
Game 3 Strike, 4-6-7(too slow), turkey(first of the night), 10 pin, strike, 10 pin, turkey and 10 pin in the fill for a 226
194-190-216 = 610
Was our final position round for the season. We only took 1 game. Over the course of the last month we dropped from 1st into 6th place. Pretty tight grouping with just a few games separating each place.
This house the past few weeks I haven't felt like I bowled really well. Something seems off and it is not the right time for it to happen going into Nationals next week. Have to change my mind set in a hurry if I am going to do anything half way decent in El Paso. Going to read the book my coach gave me last year to see if that can help change it a bit. Need a good practice session as well to be sure my timing is ok. Spare shooting isn't a concern for me as I have been pretty good lately. Spare shooting improving the past year will certainly come into play in El Paso where spares are a premium with the flat shots that are there.

Thank you. The book is called With Winning in Mind by Lanny Bassham. Wanted to geta lesson in with her before nationals, but my schedule just did not allow it this year. Will have to be after Nationals again like last year. But, I think will wait until after summer to see her again. Maybe just before leagues start back up for fall.

Finished my leagues in pretty good shape and feeling good about my game. While I was down to last year on average as a total, the important thing is that my spare percentage is up. More work to do to get my multi pin spares back up.
2 leagues and 204 games
Average 223.44, 225.32 last year.
First ball average 9.33
Strike 60%, 61% last year
Spares 78%, 75% last year
Single pin 94%, 91% last year.
- 10 pin 91%, 87% last year, 214/234. 10 pin far and away the most left pin, next was 4 pin with 78 leaves(96%),9 pin with 54 leaves(100%)
Multi pin(non-split) 145/188 77%, 79% last year.
Most left multi pin was the 2-8(95%), bucket 2-4-5-8 (60%), 3-6-10 (80%).
High game 300 x 2
299
290
289
Single pin spares are most proud for the year. Worked hard to improve that pesky 10 pin conversion. This next year will continue that upward tick but also focus more on multi pin spares. I know the bucket and 2-4-5 gave me fits every once in awhile when I would leave the 5 pin standing.

Posted in the USBC Open tournament thread, but will post here to keep my scores together as well.
Team event went better than expected:
Game 1 started with double, 10 pin, 3 pin, 4 bagger, 3-6, strike and a 2 pin in the fill which I missed converting for a very good 235.
Game 2 strike, 2-8 which I picked out the 8 pin from for an open, 6 bagger, 2 pin, 2-8 converted this time and 10 pin in the fill for a nice 234.
Game 3 started out a bit fast 2-5, 2-7, double, smash 8 pin, 3-6, strike, 5 pin, strike, and very slow leaving 1-3-5-6 which I failed to convert for a 193.
235-234-193 = 662
Extremely happy with that considering the very tough oil pattern. Also, made some cash on brackets. Used my Hyper cell at 2000 grit the entire set.
Friday went for a round of golf with team mates. Great fun, then some lunch and some sleep to prepare for the nights Doubles/Singles events.
Doubles:
Game 1 I started out way too fast leaving a 1-2 and whiffing the conversion, 3-6-9-10(too slow) which I converted, 1-2-4-10(bit too fast) leaving the 1 and 10 pin standing on the failed conversion. Starting to think this was going to be a very poor outing. Composed myself, began to control my speed and started to get some good reaction. 1-5, 4 pin, strike, 2 pin, 3-6, 4 bagger to finish out with only a 189.
Game 2 strike, 10 pin, 3-6, 2 pin, strike, 7 pin, strike, 3 pin, 3 pin, strike, and 7 pin in the fill for a 196 and a clean game!!
Game 3 2 pin, strike, pocket 7-10 split, double, 6-10, 4-7-10, 10 pin, double and then 3-6-9-10 failing to convert for a 186.
189-196-186 = 571, partner had a 583 so we are sitting at 1154 for doubles. Used Hyper Cell for entire set and likely should have changed half way through game 3.
Singles:
Game 1 started with 10 pin, 3-6, strike, 1-2-8-10(converted), double, 2-8(did not convert), strike, 3-6-10 which I left 3 pin standing, strike, 1-3-6-10 leaving 1 pin standing for a lowly 179.
Game 2 3-6-9-10 leaving 9 standing on failed conversion, 2 pin, 4 bagger, 3-6-10, double, 10 pin which I failed to convert for a 213.
Game 3 smash 9 to start, 6 pin, strike, 3-10, 2 pin, 10 pin, double, 2-4-5-8 leaving 5 pin standing, 7 pin, strike to finish out with a 191 and on a high note.
179-213-191 = 583 using Disturbed at 2000 grit all 3 games.
All Events:
662-571-583 = 1816
Very happy with how I handled the tough and flat patterns. Still have work to do, but for now I am content with how I did. Given the tough conditions, this is my highest set at Nationals, will only continue to go higher in future years. . Scores should hopefully pay me back my expenses. Should cash on all but team event. Other team members did not fare so well and we are under the low to cash for that event. Not a big gambler with brackets, but won a couple hundred on team event so that will help pay for my trip in addition to any monies won on the main events.
Some stats:
Average 201.78.
First Ball average 9.02
Strikes 47%
Single pin spares 91% (22/24) missed 1 2 pin and 1 10 pin. 2 pin most left with 7, 6 10 pins.
Non split multi pins 55% (12/22)
Splits 50% (2/2)

Very slow start for me in summer leagues. 2 weeks in and haven't cracked 600, or 200 for that matter. Would like to just go back to El Paso so I can shoot half way decently...LOL.
Upside of this is after week 3, my average will be down about 25-30 pins or so. Can try to get out of my slump and actually help my team win some games with some extra handicap when the averages re-set after week 3.

Pretty good night for me. Got back into a rhythm and made sure my timing was on.
231-213-234 = 678
Only open on the night was a 6-7-10 in 9th frame of game 2. In Game 1 left the 3-4-7-10 in 3rd frame and converted it.
100% single pin spares 7/7 and 3/3 on 10 pin.
Average will adjust next week and I will be at 195. Should actually help my team in the next few weeks with my rough start the first 2 weeks of summer.

Another good night and feel I am getting back to my rhythm. Seems every year after nationals it takes me a bit of time to get back into not trying so hard to hit a small target and just let my arm swing and muscle memory take over.
267-237-204 = 708
2 opens, a 10 pin and a 3-4-6-7-10. At one point to begin last game I had 3 10 pins in a row. Made a ball change and ended up OK for the game.

Agreed. Damn...the 700 series and 300 game are the next two targets in my sights. I can't wait until I get to the level where a 600 series is pretty much expected each night. Nice.

You have two choices, learn the throw the ball better, or find easier conditions.
Seems most people prefer the latter choice.

I'm playing it safe and doing both. I still hope I can hit 600 or a 300 or 700 before I leave Concourse. The conditions are the hardest I've ever seen...but I hate to leave there not having conquered it.

Not yet.
But I have the will to improve and to take my game to the next level and I, unlike vDub, have ample practice time and a bowling alley next door to me. Not to mention I suck at golf SO bad that after an embarrassing 120+ round (18) 4th of July weekend I decided I may retire from golfing and haven't been on a course since. Granted, I probably should practice a little since I have my work's golf outing in a couple weeks...but golf is just too frustrating...and it's hot out...and I'd rather bowl.
But, as my favorite modern day President (FDR) once said, "Never underestimate a man, who overestimates himself."
I have a picture of John Handegard on my mirror with a quote beneath it that simply reads; "Because I want it more." Now, the quote and person aren't linked...he didn't say that (as far as I know)...but he does hold the current record of 14 senior titles that I dream of someday eclipsing....if I ever learn how to bowl...and my knee doesn't require a six million dollar man style reconstruction at some point.

Back on the lanes last night from a great week off on a cruise ship down to Mexico. Relaxed and refreshed.
Not quite sure what to expect since I have not had any practice and had been bowling at a level 20 pins below my Fall average, I went into it relaxed and kept things simple and slow.
Game 1 started with strike, 10 pin, turkey, 10 pin, 4 pin, strike, got too slow 4-7-10, 4-7 and strik in fill for a 206 and lose the game by 8 pins.
Game 2 strike, too fast 2-8-10, turkey, 7 pin on a pocket 7-10 where a messenger took out 10, strike, 6-10, struck out for 227 and still lose game by 8 pins.
Game 3 battled some transition and kept making 1-2 board moves, 4 pin, 10 pin(which I missed), 3-6, ball change 10 pin, 10 pin, turkey, 10 pin, double in 10th with 8 count to finish for a 213 losing game by 70. My team did really poorly this game.
206-227-213 = 646
Not horrible, but not great either. Should have easily been a 700 series with the shots I was making. All the carry was on the other team. One guy was tripping 4's, going brooklyn, collapsing everything shooting 245 in game 2. He started game 3 with the front 5 doing the same thing.
Hope to get a practice session in this weekend. With temps in the 106-107 area this weekend, don't think I want to be out on the golf course through that.

Another typical summer night on the lanes for me......
Almost.
Game 1 started with the typical poor carry, left 4 10 pins mixed in with strikes. Missed one of them. Ended with 204.
Gotta get the thumb fixed in spare ball that I got in El Paso, they drilled it out too big. Have to use 6 pieces of tape to even get close to regular feel. Maybe I was swollen when I got it drilled up.
Game 2 was much of the same, missed 10 pin in 1st frame, greek church in 2nd picked 4 out of the attempted conversion. Few more strikes and 10 pins mixed in. One of my 10 pin pick ups would have been a beautiful 7-10 conversion. 10 pin went back into the curtain followed by the ball which knocked it out of the pit and ricocheting right to the 7 pin spot. That doesn't happen too often for me, it's usually just back to the pit and stays there. Made adjustments each time when I left 10 pin, right 1 or 1/2 board, back a half step etc. Nothing seemed to work until I changed ball again to the Hyper Cell, had a good reaction with it. Only a 193 this game.
Game 3 finally had something that I could string together. Hadn't felt this good rolling the ball all summer long. Maybe I made it around the turn of summer struggles? Started with front 9 all in the pocket and all 10 in the pit. Went up in the 10th for my first shot and got a little too fast, leaving a 4-8 to end my string. Converted that and then struck in the fill for a nice confidence boosting 278.
206-193-278 = 677
I'll take it. :D

What makes today's league bowling any more valid than open bowling?
Well, numerous things.
But in my case, the biggest non-league factor was that it was bowled on one lane. I think bowling a 300 is much easier (in general) when you only have to deal with one lane condition.
And in practice, the vast majority of people don't get a pair to practice on, they just use one lane.
But then you add in all the other stuff, like it "mattering".
The wild card is consistent lane conditions. In the past I'd say one of the biggest things is that you bowl on a fresh, undisturbed pattern during league versus a hodge podge of whatever during open bowling....but some centers actually don't oil before league play...which should be illegal...but isn't...so there goes that argument.
But it's more the little things nowadays. Like the people that like to bowl fast...they get in a groove and just start mowing down pins...they do well in open bowling where the pace is fast...but then in league play...they gotta wait 5-10 minutes between shots (more if the other team took a podi or smoke break). That doesn't bother most bowlers...but some bowlers lose their momentum if they have to sit down between shots.

The USBC allows you to bowl on just one lane if there is a mechanical reason you can't use two.
You can create a USBC sanctioned singles league, so your "team" consists of just you.

Went yesterday for my first practice of the summer, and ended up bowling in a tournament.
Things did not go very well. Should have saved my donation and got some much needed practice in like I intended to do.
Was an 8 game tournament and we moved a pair after 2 games. For the 8 game set, I was +14. Very poor and WAY under average, but about average for how the summer is going. Going this week to get my thumb hole fixed on my spare ball and a couple other tweaks on some other equipment.
In any case, it was some expensive practice. Always enjoy competing any way that I can if you want to call the way I shot competing. LOL.

Good night on the lanes for position round.
Decided to try my old standard First Blood since I just got some new grips put in this week. What a difference some new grips make to the feel of a ball.
Game 1 started with double, 10 pin, double, a pair of 2 pin leaves getting just a bit fast, 7 pin, and punch out for a 236.
Game 2 strike, 10 pin, turkey, 10 pin, strike, 7 pin which was almost a 7-10, punch out for 239.
Game 3 double, 7 pin, 4 bagger, way too fast leaving 1-2-4, strike, 2 pin, and strike in the fill for a 236.
236-239-236 = 711
9.66 first ball average
71% strikes
Spare ball felt great with the newly slugged thumb.
Very consistent and a much needed confidence boosting 30 clean series. This should have easily been an 800 series were it not for pesky 7 pins and 10 pins, left 3 of each.

Buddy of mine that was subbing for another team had his old and only ball Black Widow Pearl crack on him. I checked his ball for fit and he was pretty close to my fit. I let him use my IQ Tour Fusion which I hardly ever use(not even sure why I bought that ball), and he shot a 656 with it last night. He loved it. He offered me $40 to buy it, I countered with $60 and he took it. So I unloaded a ball that I never really used anyway and put a little cash back in my pocket. Perhaps this is the beginning of the money I can gather to get that Haywire. Money night next week for end of summer as well to add to it.

1) The only downside is a used original black widow will sell for like $100+ easy…I saw an undrilled one for $300-$400.
2) If this guy needs a used 16lb Columbia Encounter, Hammer Rhythm, or Brunswick Slingshot…I'll even cover the shipping if he wants to give me $60 each for them. I'll even autograph them…assuming that doesn't actually DE-value them.

It's actually more likely to shoot triplicates when shooting games like 230's, than when shooting games like 160's.
With 230's, there are less opportunities to lose pin count.
237 is a common score with 9 strikes, and 3 9 count spares.
The 239 is more rare score because it's probably a game like 270, / X / X X X X... with another 9/ in there somewhere.
It was the last digit in the scores that Billf used to post that raised the BS detector for me.
Games like 273, and 262 just don't happen very often.
Although I did see a 262 the other day... The guy went X 9- X X X X X X X X X 4 (left a 3-4-6-7-9-10)

Not a good start to the Fall season in my Tuesday league.
The 10 pin really killed me last night. Left 7 of them(1 was a fill). Something was just not right with me shooting at the pesky pin, I only converted 1 of them. Each time I missed about 1 foot into the channel in front of the pin. Still cannot believe it. I have never missed the 10 pin so badly in one session.

I really think its a HEAD THING! I know people on house oil that say the 7 pin is tough. I never miss it,,, once in a blue moon! ( Again on house oil)
You would think a person would be consistent with their percentages, not like ICEMAN above!!???!!!

Yeah, definitely an anomaly. To miss even 2 in one night is pretty few and far between, but to miss 5 is just nuts. This past year I have really worked at it and converting at a rate of 91%. Last season, missed it a total of 20 times. To have missed it 25% of that number already is not a good sign of things to come. LOL!

Another night on the lanes for week 2 of league.
Did not have a good look in practice with anything. Stuck with my trusty Disturbed though to begin game 1.
Game 1 started with front 4, 7 pin, fast leaving 2-5, fast again leaving 2-8, strike, 7 pin, smash 9 and strike in the fill for a nice starting 224.
Game 2 strike, 10 pin(hallelujah I picked it up), ran off the next 6 before going really fast and really outside leaving 1-2, double and 10 pin in fill for a nice 257.
Game 3 strike, fast leaving 1-2-4-5, double, smash 5 pin(which was actually a 4 pin that moved over to the 5 pin spot -noone on the pair could believe it), strike, another 5 pin, this time I got inside with higher speed and deserved this one, strike, 4 pin, 4 pin, and 4 pin in the fill for a 207.
224-257-207 = 688
As you can tell on the last game, the lanes were really transitioning. Had to keep speed up or would go through the nose. Double edged sword as when I would get it out too far ball didn't have a chance to come back.
All in all a good night with 30 clean frames. 2 weeks now that I haven't left a split which I am encouraged about.

Solid night on the lanes last night. Felt good during warm ups with Hyper Cell, as long as I kept my speed in check.
Game 1 started with a bit of a weak 8 pin, 10 pin(converted), 5 bagger, 10 pin, strike, 10 pin and strike in fill for 238
Game 2 started with front 5 before leaving a smash 9, ran off another 5 leaving a 10 pin in the fill ball for a nice 278.
Game 3 started with turkey, 10 pin, 7 pin, strike, 10 pin, 2-5, 10 pin, double and a 4-6-7 for good measure to finish out with a 222.
238-278-222 = 738.
Should have changed ball mid way through last game. But, nice start to the league and another 30 clean series. 2nd for the week.

Solid night again for me on the lanes.
Game 1 starting with my trusty Disturbed(that I won from this site ) had the front 6, 10 pin, double, a zinger 5 pin and strike in the fill for a nice start at 258.
Game 2 10 pin, bit heavy leaving 4-7, 6 bagger with the last one a zinger and getting a back door domino strike leaving 4 pins on the deck and me laughing back to the table. Another zinger leaving a washout 1-2-4-10, doubled and a 3-6-10 in the fill for a 251.
Game 3 started with front 4, then the lanes were transitioning and made a poor choice of move, moved laterally which I then realized was wrong after 3 frames, went high leaving 3-6-10, 8-10 split, 10 pin, then got lined back up by shifting my eyes from original spot double, 2-8, and strike in fill for a 222.
258-251-222 = 731
All in all a great night. Almost made it to 3rd straight league session without an open. This was my first split this season though and it was a fluky 8-10 which is just a weird leave for me, I've left it 9 times in the last 456 games.

Consistent outing last night.
Left lane was all mine all night, but the right was giving me fits and left a couple light hit splits. Would make an adjustment after leaving one and go slightly high, was a very tight line. Used Hyper Cell most of the night then moved to Disturbed.
Game 1 strike, 2-10 split(right lane), 5 bagger, 10 pin, 4 pin, strike and 2-10(right lane) for a 223
Game 2 4 pin(right lane after an adjustment), strike, 2-10 split(right lane), double, 7 pin, 2 pin, punched out for a 226.
Game 3 strike, 10 pin, 10 pin, strike, 4-6-7, 5 bagger and smash 9 to finish out with a 226.
223-226-226 = 675

Scores this week were up and down. Some very bad leaves made it difficult to get higher scores.
Tuesday night:
Game 1 didn't start so well. Greek Church, strike, 10 pin which I mised, ran off the next 6 before yet another greek church in 10th frame to put an end to a possibly salvaged game. 207
Game 2 started 7 pin, double, 10 pin, turkey, 7 pin, strike and then went WAY too far out leaving a 1-2-4-5-10 washout and missing head pin on conversion attempt but got the remaining 4 for a disappointing 216.
Game 3 lanes were really transitioning, everyone having problems. 3-6-9-10, Greek Church(3rd of the night), double, fast again 1-2-4-7, 6-10, turkey and then 3-10 in 1-th frame missing the conversion for a poor 193.
Leaving so many greek churches in one night was just crazy. Have never left that so many times in one night before.

Thursday Night:
Game 1 started out essentially how my Tuesday went with a Greek Church!! I probably won't leave a greek church the rest of the season as many times as I left it this week.
Church, Strike, 4 pin, ran of the next 8 before leaving a 2-4-10 on a test ball at the end for a nice 256.
Game 2 Double, 4-6-7, 2-7, ran off the next 6 before leaving 9 pin in fill for a 244.
Game 3 Strike, pocket 7-10, 1-2, 10 pin, ran off the next 6 before leaving another pocket 7-10 in fill for a 234.
256-244-234 = 734
Should have easily been in the 760+ without those unlucky pocket 7-10 splits.

Tuesday Night:
Game 1 with Disturbed started with a really nice look on the lanes and the front 5 before leaving a 10 pin, turkey another 10 pin to start the 10th frame and strike in the fill for a nice 258.
Game 2 strike, 9 pin, double, got it out a bit leaving 2-7-8 and only getting 2-8, 9 pin which I completely flagged after ball slipped off my thumb which would have been a nice 10 pin conversion, double, 10 pin and struck out in 10th for a low 203.
Game 3 lanes were getting really toasty, strike, 2-7, 8 pin, 4 pin, turkey, 6 pin, 3-4-6-7 split, double and 6-7 in the fill for a hard earned 208.
258-203-208 = 669
All in all not a bad night. My team mates didn't fare so well. Between 2 of them, they left a total of 7(yes 7) 7-10 splits, all of them in the pocket.

Wasn't feeling it this week I guess. Work was weighing on my mind as we laid off a bunch of workers, one of them my coworker. Hit really close to home.
Had 2 pocket 7-10's that ruined an otherwise just OK games. Couple tugs during the night didn't help either.

Was felling pretty good last night on the lanes. Our team struggled with carry and everything our opponents did just seemed to fall. They had so many through the nose strikes it wasn't even funny at the end of the night. Wouldn't come out and say they were sandbaggers, but 2 on the team average in the 170's each had a 650+ series. Needless to say, giving them 100 pins handicap we weren't able to get even close and lost all 4 by a large margin.
1st ball average 9.56
Strikes 64%
Single pin 100%(9/9)
Multi pin 66% (2/3)
1 split
30 clean with an asterisk as I struck to start 10th frame in 2nd game, but then had a 4-9 split. Not sure if that counts or not so I'll put an asterisk on that one.

Started with Disturbed and used it through 2nd frame of game 3. Then switched to First Blood and it worked great. Made a 4-3 move and was in pocket the rest of the game with exception of a tug leaving the 3-6 in 7th frame.

Last night was a little bit of a frustrating one. Made some good shots, but made a couple bad ones as well.
There was a remembrance event going on for a sweet lady that everyone in the leagues knew who passed away last weekend. Fund raisers and raffles, balloon release etc. Very nice evening paying tribute to a sweet lady and good friend of all. Throughout the night they were calling over the PA the raffle winners etc. and the center had the speakers LOUD. Could actually hear them talking over the pins getting smashed down lane LOL. Had to try and make shots in between the PA announcing going on.

Bowling is like dating.
It can be very, very easy or very, very difficult...and the difference is all about your expectations.
Wednesday I had one of the best series I've ever thrown in league play...easily Top 4-7. And as I was bowling, I just was thinking about how terrible it was that I chopped a 6-10. Meanwhile...I had 3 open frames the entire night...and two were a 4-7-10 split (that I almost picked up) and a pocket 7-10 split. In 2013, if I threw 3 games of 180+...I'd be bragging on Facebook. Now, I leave every night frustrated that I can't seem to throw a 300-game in league play or reach a 700 or 800 series or God forbid a 900. Nowadays if I leave with less than a 600-Series...the night was a waste. I don't even bother walking 6 lanes over to report my side pot scores if I didn't roll in the 180s or higher.
Same thing with dating. I couldn't get action in a monkey whorehouse with a bag of bananas...but that's because I want a wife that looks like Diana Zavjalova...or Princess Diana....and NOT like Diana Ross. I prefer women with a source of income (to support my bowling habit) and not women that are over the age of 20 and still either babysitting or "between jobs". I'm not asking them to pick up the check...but I also don't want to be paying their cell phone bill each month. I'd like a woman that is intelligent and fun and can hold a conversation...not a woman who's biggest issue in life is that she really dislikes a character on "Housewives of Orange County" or is really depressed that her favorite woman got kicked off the Bachelor. And...it'd be "nice" if the woman was a nymphomaniac...but a LOYAL nymphomaniac. It would be "less nice" if our "intimate time" was on a schedule posted on the refrigerator next to the grocery list and list of doctor appointments.
See...it's all about expectations....
...wait...what thread did I just derail? Oops...sorry VDub...go get em in Tulsa!!
Mudpuppy Cliff Notes: If VDub doesn't stop hiding in beer leagues and make that next step to PBA regionals soon...Aslan is going to win a PBA Regional FIRST...and oh the SHAME....oh the shame!!

Game 1 started with Disturbed and had a great reaction. 1st ball in 10th I got speed up just a little bit leaving the 7 pin. Darn it. So close......
Game 2 fill ball in 10th frame I did a test shot with too much speed, so a wasted test shot.
Game 3 made a ball change in 4th frame to First Blood and had only really bad shot of the night in 10th frame when I tugged it.
All in all a very good night. We took all 4 as a team, 1st game by only 5 pins. I really think that with a little tougher conditions that we experienced in Tulsa, really helps with targeting and adjusting to transitions.

Another average night for you :)
Don't discourage him from posting. Unless he's completely FOS....which I doubt...it's inspiring to see that 700 series' are actually POSSIBLE!!
Granted...it seems like VDub would be bored at this point...but hey...God love him! It gives me something (or someone) to aim for!! And no...that is not a threat against his life (I have to add that disclaimer as websites tend to get weird about 'threats against users'). I'm just saying that if VDub didn't post...who would I aspire to surpass on the site? Iceman is gone...for the time being. So getting my first 800 series before him has lost a little of it's potential for nose-rubbing. Without VDub...who's gonna wear the target on their back? Mudpuppy died or got lost at sea or something. I already beat ZDawg and MWhite. I think I could beat Rob...although I haven't actually done it yet officially and now it's kinda unfair because his back health is 'questionable' (although I'm sure he'd use stronger language to describe it). So...it's gotta be VDub!!!
So you keep pounding those rocks VDub...because somewhere behind you...sometimes very, very, very far behind you...lost like one-eyed, one-legged pirate with sea sickness...there's a young(er), funnier, better looking, bowler...who is gaining ground...like a tortoise and a hare...
I will most likely die before I surpass you...but that's only because the good die young...according to Billy Joel. But if I don't...and my knee doesn't self destruct like a mission impossible video cassette...well...someday...someday...

Felt like I threw the ball so well last night, had a nice line that I was using and made a small move on left lane towards game 3 that kept me in the strikes for the most part. Right lane I didn't make a move all night. We were on lanes 1 & 2 last night. Lane 1 always plays drier than 2.
Will be kicking myself for the bone headed leaves at end of game 1, should have been a 760'ish series with those conversions. But, I certainly will never turn down a 700 series.
As a team we took all 4. Game 1, one of my other teammates stepped up and had a 209 game so we were able to take the game by 100+ pins. Other 2 games were 50+ pin wins against the #1 team in the league. Needless to say, they were a little disappointed.

Another good night, felt like I was throwing the ball really well. Only times I went a bit high was due to ball speed. Had a great line and stayed ahead of transition. As long as I kept my speed(was slow twice and fast once), I was in the pocket.
30 clean for the night. Rest of the team shot in the mid to low 600 range, but we lost all 4. Guy I was bowling against was a 189 average bowler, he shot a 723 series!! Seemed like the team could do no wrong. Can't even remember how many times they went through the nose and struck. LOL.

And even though MWhite has called you out for bowling on super easy conditions...you're still the overall top seed in the ever developing "Aslan's Bowlingboards.com 10-pin Shootout" which is an event that is perpetually in development...waiting on funding. Unlike Iceman's wood lane tournament in Missouri...that offers nothing but the opportunity to bowl against Iceman in Missouri...my tournament would have prize money and would likely also need to at least partially cover bowler expenses. Not sure how much money it would take to host it. I've already determined the location, not going to give it away...but I'm thinking New Jersey...maybe the day before set up a clinic with NJ star bowlers Kelly Kullick, Johnny Petraglia, and Parker Bohn III. I'm thinking it'll turn out to be the premier bowling event of all-time. So start getting your post count up boyz and girlz. Space will be limited and based on post count. MWhite has an automatic berth by winning the VBT...but the rest of the spots are based on post count.

Last nights scores for me were a bit frustrating at times. Still bowled well, but could have been so much better. Missed 2 10 pins. That's part of the frustrating part, but the other part of the night was the pin setters on our pair. This pair is notorious for having the head pin set just slightly left of spot. This means, when you drive into the pocket, you leave buckets or 2-8's, or just 2's. Had several of the 2-8's and 2's last night that had the headpin been set correctly would likely have been strikes. When trying to adjust just a little to get it to come in more towards head pin, would then start leaving 4 pins. See beginning of game 2 for instance. Had 1 bad ball all night where I let the ball just sail on down right side of the lane.
Thankfully, the house I bowl on Thursdays is getting new lanes, approaches, ball returns and working on the pin setters. I spoke with the manager again about the lanes we were on and the offset pin setters. He agreed and already knew about them. Just waiting for the last round of travel leagues to come through and they will get started.

VDub is like the 6 million dollar man and can hear the pin as it is set down and can use his bionic eye to see where it's actually sitting.
Little known fact: When VDub bowls in houses where the pin is set down in the proper spot...he averages a mere 153.

Could be more than 1/2". Don't know, but when you can look at a rack and actually see the pin offset you know there is a problem.

Tuesday night Sportsman:
Started off trying to get a good feel for my new thumb system. Got the VISE IT system put in on Saturday but did not have a chance to bowl any games with it. When I was getting the thumb fitted one was tight and the second felt pretty good. I think because I was using my thumb so much that morning going in and out of the thumb to get a good fit I swelled up a bit. The "smaller one" felt OK when I started to use it last night. IT's still a little bit tight, but not overly so. I forget who it was that mentioned to not change my spare ball out, and in hind sight I likely should have listened as it was a pain in the rear changing out the thumb when I needed to go to it. In the end, I put my 2nd larger thumb in it just to avoid that. Bone headed move on my part, but oh well. Too late now. :)
Game one did not start out so well. 10 pin converted successfully, then zipped right past the 6 pin(for a perfect 10 pin pick up) the next frame. Put a few things together going really light on right lane leaving a bucket. Disturbed was just not finishing well this first game. 189
Game 2 I gave Disturbed 2 frames to see what would happen and left smash 9 and a 10 pin. Enough and brought out Hyper Cell to get some better reaction and for most part it worked great, put together 6 of 7 strikes up until 10th frame after the change. Got way outside in 10th frame leaving another bucket and 235.
Game 3 proved that the ball change was a good one. With exception of the 2nd frame where I tugged the ball a bit leaving greek church, I was smashing the pocket. 255

Rough night last night. Never felt that I was throwing the ball real well.
Made some really bad shots on spare conversions as well. Missed the easy ones and made a difficult one, go figure. Was just one of those nights.

After bowling in the morning at the US Open, decided I should go ahead and make it to league. Our anchor was also bowling the Open, he was on B squad and wouldn't make it in time for league.
Had a very good night. Felt the tighter lane playing at the US Open certainly helped.

1 single open from tugging ball slightly and leaving 4-6-7.
With 4 of us bowling this night, and our anchor put in as a blind. We took over the scratch high game and scratch high series for the season.

5 of the last 6 in this house have been 700 series.
As a team we took all 4 again. 2nd straight sweep.
In game 3 we were very close and were going frame to frame against the other team. I knew I needed something big in 10th to help us out. I struck out and our anchor then only needed a 7 count for the win. Love doing that and serving the game up on a silver platter.
Our 3rd bowler shot really well last night, 214-280-279. If only he had found that line in 1st game would have been his first 800 series.

Didn't post scores from last Thursday.
Nothing much to report except I had a sub 600 series night on lanes which we were bowling later than usual due to new lane surface construction at this house. They are putting in all new Brunswick approaches, lanes, ball return hardware etc. We were also bowling the Bye team, which I don't like doing as my team mates like to speed bowl and that just throws me off for some reason. Just an over all bad night.

Thursday night fun league. If nothing else, I was certainly consistent. Made 1 boneheaded shot all night and failed to cover a 10 pin in the 10th frame of last game, but all in all, a lot of striking going on. We bowled on brand new lane surfaces and the oil held up really well on it. I moved 1 board all night. I'll take it.

Tuesday night Sportsman league. Decided to try out in practice my new Haywire!, and it rolled so well in this house. Crazy hook from this ball. Took me a couple throws to get lined up, but when I did and actually hit where I wanted to, it smashed the pocket.
Team mate shot 300 game 2. Ended with a 768 series. In the last several weeks prior, he has shot 773,770,621! Raised his average 11 pins in 4 weeks!!

Missed transition to start game 2, but made a 2-2 move left and found my line again. Game 3 left lane broke down for everyone, I was stubborn before making a change to Disturbed in 7th frame and then punching out after.
Not bad for the first 3 game set with this ball. Think this will become a beast of a ball for me. Really liked playing a little bit deeper here.
Going to give the new Nirvana a try on Thursday night.

Tuesday night was just bad, was all over the place.
Used Haywire that I dis so well with last week and just couldn't keep it on a consistent line. Switched to Disturbed and I wasn't very consistent with where I wanted to play on the lanes. A lot of Dumba... shots for me. No excuses, was just not in the right frame of mind. Broke my streak of 700 series on Tuesday. Had shot 700 7 of the last 8 weeks with 4 straight coming into this night.
None of our team bowled really well, luckily other team didn't either. We took 3 of 4 on the night and none of us hit average.

Pretty good night on the lanes considering had 3 opens. Used the new Nirvana and really like the way it rolls up in this house. The volume on the lanes is usually pretty heavy. Brand spanking new lane surfaces as well. Got fast a few times and paid the price with a split and washout in game 1, but was pretty much pocket the rest of the night. Even the 7-10 in 10th frame was pocket shot. Hate it when that happens, but this house is notorious for it.
As a team, we took 3 of 4 points. Took first 2 games and our opponents started a strong come back in game 3. We took totals by just 11 pins. Opposing anchor needed double in 10th to secure the split of games, got the first one, then left 10 pin. I left door open for them to be that close by leaving 7 pin which was almost 7-10 to start 10th.

Now that leagues are finished, figured would put my stats for the season here:
Average in 2 leagues 223.99 through 186 games. LY was 223.44
Tuesday night 227.60
Thursday night 219.37
High Game 300 on April 12
High Series 765 on April 26
Low series 542 on Jan 7
6 sub 600 series - 1 more than last year.
35 600+ series
21 700+ series - same as last year
First Ball Average 9.34
Strikes 62%
Spares 75% (549/732)
Single Pin spares 92% (404/438)
*10 pin 86% (178/205) LY was 91%
*4 pin 96% (60/62) LY as 96%
*9 pin 94% (47/50) LY was 100%
*6 pin 81% (9/11)
Multiple Pins(not including splits) 81% LY was 77%
* 3-6-10 81% (22/27)
* 6-10 91% (21/23)
* 2-8 84% (16/19)
* 3-6 60% (9/15)
* 2-4-5 70% (7/10)
Of my 183 total opens 115 of them were splits.
While I struck more, my spare conversions really hurt me. Of the 3 most single pin conversions that I have left the past 3 years (10 pin, 4 pin and 9 pin) I left it 40 less times this year and converted in total at only 89.9%.
My goals for next year are:
1. Work on 10 pin conversion to bring back into the 91%+ range.
2. Work on multi pin spares to bring up into 90% range.
3. No sub 600 series.
4. Few more 300's and 800 series to add to achievements.

Week 1 in the books for my Tuesday night league. This summer aside from Nationals, I barely picked up a bowling ball. I practiced maybe 2 times in the past few months since getting back from Reno. So, going into last night, I had zero expectations of how I was going to do. I was pleasantly surprised with my performance. Helped our newly formed team out to win 4 last night. We used to be the highest average team and were always the ones people gunned for. Couple personal issues with our captain and the majority decided to boot him. We reformed and have a better balanced team with a lower average bowler(165) to give us some more handicap and also a couple mid average, 195-200 bowlers along with my 227. Balanced out nicely I think, but will see as the season progresses. I expect the 165 bowler to increase average as we get into season.
Anywho, almost a 30 clean for me. Opened in frame 30 with a leave that has been haunting me for some reason. Have never had an issue with this one until it crept up on me while in Reno. Seem to regularly pick off the 10 from a 6-10 leave.

Thanks. Yea, that's the thing though, something mentally about that combination for some reason for me. Susie Minshew is my coach and I have quoted and posted about her article that covers this very thing. In my last lesson with her, I picked off the 10 pin the same way as I did last night multiple times. I will just have to get some more practice at it in the coming weeks. I haven't changed anything else with my spare shooting and my 10 pin conversions are getting better.

Has been a long while since I posted any of my scores, but wanted to post up my season recap. 2 Leagues, one averaging 225(competitive) and the other averaging 216(mixed fun league).
Over all a good year, but a down one for my expectations. My spare shooting improved quite a bit this past year. My 10 pin conversion is still not up to where I would like it to be in the 91-92% range, but making progress there. Last year it was at 85% so I will take it being 89% as a win in that category. Single pin shooting overall went up 2% points to last year.
Picked up twice as many splits this year compared to last year as well. My goal next year is just to not leave as many, LOL!!
Strike percentage dropped as I struggled keeping myself consistent throughout the year. Have not had much time to practice and I chalk this reduction of 2% points to last year to that. In prior years, I was an every weekend practice type of bowler. This past year, with work and other household duties that had to fall off a bit. I was lucky if I got practice once per month.
Have work to do in my game for the summer and come back with a gusto next season.
Heading to Vegas tomorrow morning to bowl Nationals. Bowl Saturday and Sunday events. Plan to get some practice at Bowlers Journal and also do the fun 40 frame game.

Bowled in one of the rare scratch tournaments in our area over the weekend. Having not really picked up a ball since Nationals, except for a few games of practice, I was pleased with how I bowled.
Was a 5 game tournament, shift every game skipping a pair. I averaged just under 232 for the 5 games, with a high of 259. The 259, I actually crossed with John Burkett who bowls on the PBA50 tour and beat him by 1 pin. He had just come off bowling 300 the game before.
Out of a field I believe of 50, I placed 7th and cashed. :) The top 4 went on to a stepladder finals, I was only 22 pins out of 4th place so the top was pretty closely packed.

Wow, that was a great performance. What kind of oil pattern did you bowl on?

Thanks. This was on Kegel Bourbon Street, so essentially a house shot. LOL

How did Burkett do?
Bowling against folks like that is weird. You see your score and that you beat a pro...but you don't want to celebrate too much. Although, this probably isn't your first victory against a pro.
I bowled a pro am with Burkett back in 2014. It was his first year on the PBA50 and he was really quiet. I think he was still getting used to the difference between MLB and pro bowling in terms of fan interaction. He was nice and cool and everything...he just seemed like the kinda guy that bowls in a "zone"...and having a bunch of goofball fans talking to you and stuff is probably distracting when you're used to being on a mound for 1-2 innings with the nearest fan is 120ft away.

Burkett is indeed a quiet guy. He is much like myself in that respect. He finished in 5th place, 19 pins ahead of me and just 3 pins off the step ladder finals.

Back in the swing of things for leagues this fall:
Tuesday 5 person competitive league:
Week 1 209-248-194 = 651
Week 2 182-276-226 = 684
Week 3 208-248-201 = 657
Not sure what it is about game 2 but I like it. LOL!
Thursday 4 person fun league
Week 1 224-205-190 = 619
Week 2 216-209-245 = 670
My goal this league season is to not have any series under 600. Another is to continue my 10 pin spare conversion percentage increasing.

Thursday nights Week 3 169-210-215 = 594. Can't explain what happened, but I had horrible ball reaction from everything I had in my bag. As the saying goes, you can't out bowl a bad ball reaction. Also this ruins my goal I mentioned in my last post. EPIC FAIL! LOL
Thursday Week 4 226-249-222 = 697
Tuesday Week 4 289-163-236 = 688
Good week and felt good except for game 2 from Tuesday. After going the front 10 and then a 10 pin in game 1, I got slow in game 2 after my adrenaline came down and had 5 splits. Split in 10th frame lost our team the game. Lost by 1 pin.
Oh well, on to next week and some upcoming tournaments.

10/4 new league subbing 201-177-226 = 604
10/5 227-231-223 = 681
Had thumb trouble on Wednesday and last night. Wednesday I was just completely all over the place. Was at a new to me house but that's no excuse. I left my favorite IT thumb on the table at the house I bowl on Tuesday nights. Just hoping they have it, or one of my team mates picked it up for me. Had to improvise and use my bigger thumb for Wednesday and last night and put about 5 pieces of tape in it to get a good feel for it.

Tuesday League 213-213-192 = 618
Thursday League 186-235-187 = 608
Just an all around poor week. Did not throw ball very well and just all over the place. Not the kind of week I would have liked going into a tournament in Tulsa this past weekend.
Greater Tulsa Open tournament - my confidence was a bit down coming in to Tulsa this past weekend. Having had a bad week and being all over the place, I just went with it on our Team event on Saturday afternoon. Started out pretty squirrely with a 205, followed that up with 216 and then started to put some things together for a 257 to finish out.
Team Event 205-216-257 = 678. Feeling a bit better about my shots the last game.
Singles and Doubles events - coming off a good game on Saturday during team event I continued on with my shot making. Started with spare in game 1 and almost went sheet shooting 289. Followed that up with a 248 and finished out singles with 213 and my first 700 series of the young season thus far.
Singles 289-248-213 = 750.
Doubles I continued working on my shots and had some poor pin carry. Changed balls a few times until I got the look I wanted. I left more 7 pins than I did 10 pins on the day. Pretty crazy.
Doubles 228-227-267 = 722
All events = 678+750+722 = 2150. Should put me in good shape I think in top range of bowlers in both handicap and scratch results. The tournament goes until Mid December, so lots of weekends of bowling to go before I find out how I fared.
In addition to the regular events there are some good optional events. One is called a 3 Game Alibi where you take high game from Team, high from Single and high from Double events and that is your score for it. I have an 813 with my 3 high games from each event.
There is also a 6 game combine event which adds your games for Singles and Doubles together for your score, so at 1472 for that optional.

Think it might be time for a lesson to tweak up my current status. Aside from the tournament couple weeks ago, I am just all over the place and not repeating shots very well.
Tuesday nights
10/17 202-206-224 = 632
10/24 203-248-209 = 660
Thursday nights
10/19 200-226-147 = 573
Yes, you read that right....147:confused: Extremely poor carry combined with poor spare shooting. I was just exhausted by end of night which is no excuse. LOL.

Well, I finally ended my 700 series drought in league play last night.
256-243-226 = 725
One of those odd kind of nights where I left only 1 10 pin. I usually average 1 per game.
30 clean frames. Had a couple bad shots in the series, but finding a groove with my Sure Lock. This ball likes to go through some oil before making it's move. I was standing 30 and crossing 17-18 at arrows to 8-9 at break point. Very nice move to the pocket and crushing the pins. The new span that I have been trying on this ball is feeling very comfortable and it is now time to get all of my arsenal plugged and re-drilled.

Way to go vdubtx on the 725! How do you compare the sure lock with the haywire?
Sure Lock starts up sooner as compared to the Haywire. It is not as drastic a movement once it hits the friction though. Works for me on the higher volume house I bowl in. Have had it for a few weeks and it rolls really well and suits my game pretty well I think. I drilled it pin down to give some variety to the balls that are in my bag.

An other so so week on my Tuesday league, just did not have good carry and missed a few spares:
219-199-216 = 634
Used Sure Lock for both games 1 and 2, then switched to Hectic as the lanes were moving quite a bit.
Thursday league was better again this go around and another 700 series:
235-247-236 = 718
Used Haywire for games 1 and 2, then started game 3 with it and ball was not finishing. Switched to Sure Lock in frame 5 and left a ringing 10 pin, then punched out to save my 700 series.
Had some more of my balls worked on shortening my span. It feels a ton better and the only ball after this weekend left to get worked on is my spare ball.

Pretty good week, bowled 3 times this week subbing on Monday night.
Monday
256-215-238 = 709
30 clean frames with 6 10 pin pick ups
Tuesaday
229-236-225 = 690
Only miss on the night was the pesky bucket when Haywire started to not finish well. This necessitated a move to the Sure Lock after to keep me in the pocket, by mid game 3 was very deep on the lane.
Thursday
263-187-190 = 640
Had a great look with Haywire in game 1, then it all fell apart. Conditions went very over/under after that first game, or it was just me. I would likely say it was the latter LOL.
Our association Open Tournament coming up this weekend. Hoping for better scores than the last 2 games I had.

Really loving my Hyper Cell Fused. Rolls so well through the fronts and makes a nice reaction to friction down lane without over reacting.
Last 2 weeks of league scores. Not sure I can remember when I had 4 back to back 700 series.

Continued my string of 700+ series last night.
Got new Storm Drive drilled up that I won last week on a raffle. Ball rolls so nice, this is going to be a nice addition to my arsenal.
256-265-196 = 717
Used the Drive for games 1 and 2. End of game 2 lanes were transitioning so fast. Last couple shots of the game I had strikes in frames 7-9, coming in high on 9, then made a 3 board move and struck to start 10th, then ball jumped off the same spot leaving 4-9 to finish out the game. Made another move to start Game 3, but was evident I needed to make ball change. Some poor carry after the change which resulted in a sub par game to finish out the night.
I will certainly take another 700 series.
Very impressed with the Drive.

Another good night with the Drive. This ball is really an amazing one.
Aside from slight tug on the ball in 10th frame of game one going through the nose, and over muscling the ball in 5th frame game 2, it was smashing the pocket the entire night.

5 games on this ball this week and it is averaging a whopping 256 for me!! I know it won't last, but I can dream right?? LOL!

Just realized that the layout on both the Drive and the new Hyper Cell Fused are the same. I don't get into many details about layout with my driller, he knows how I bowl so I let him decide how a ball will fit into my arsenal.

Just out of curiosity vdub, what are you noticing the main differences are between how these two balls roll for you? I was actually looking at both these balls to fill a spot in my bag.
Do you find the Drive less aggressive but more predictable? Some insight from you would be wonderful.
Thanks

Hey bubba,
Hyper Cell Fused is definitely a more angular motion down the lane. Gets through the front of the lane and when it hits friction makes it's move.
For me, I needed to take the polish off of it just a bit as it was a bit to sharp on the back end for me.
Drive is a more continuous motion down the lane. Gets through the front of the lane and starts it's move in a more controllable fashion I think than the Fused. The Drive is going to be a great ball for me on the Sport conditions at Nationals I think.
I plan on getting some reaction videos of the Drive this weekend when I practice. Can then compare ball motion between the two.

Thanks for the feedback. Been using the Sure Lock and as you probably know, that is alot of ball. I've had my eye on these two for a bit and appreciate your findings.

Last week ended my string of 700 series with a crashing thump on Thursday.
Tuesday night - 682
Thursday night - 593, just had horrible timing and could not get anything going, just one of those days.
So, went and got some practice to get my timing back.
Took a couple shots of practice and then did a comparison of one shot against a shot from a week or two ago practice. Think I am back to my regular self, but guess will see how that theory holds tomorrow night. LOL.

Last weeks scores:
Tuesday - 213,216,236 = 665
Extremely tough pair(47-48 - end pair of house), was only one even close to 600 series.

Couple bad shots and a missed 10 pin spare messed me up in the middle game.
