How to play a shorter pattern?

I usually play on a 41' THS that my house lays down. Going to be bowling in a sweeper in a few weeks in a house that uses a 37' THS. If i were to guess, i would say that id need to play deeper inside to make up for the increased area of friction? Balls i will be bringing are a DV8 Too Reckless @ 1500 grit dull polish, Storm Crossroad @ 1500 grit high gloss polish and stats are in sig

Not exactly. You need to get the ball closer to the gutter for the break point. The rule of thumb is to subtract 31 from the length of the pattern in feet to get the number of the board the ball should be on as it exits the oil.

For your usual house that would be the tenth board. This is not your target unless you're a stroker, and it's not the break point either. It will take some distance for the ball to start to hook after it leaves the oil. For most bowlers the break on a 41'pattern will be between the 5th and the 10th boards.

On the 37' pattern you need to exit the oil at the 6th board. Your break point will most likely be between the 6 and the 2.

Couldn't you adjust speed and revs too to make it break later? On some spare balls I do this - I speed it up to 19-20mph and I don't flick (snap) my wrist - ball just slides down the lane straight at a 1 pin spare (usually left to left-center 1 pin spares).

I believe a 90 degree axis tilt will break later where as a lower axis tilt will read friction earlier

Not knowing what your starting line usually is I don't know if that's what I said. If your break point is already outside of the 5 board the answer is yes. What I would probably do is start by making a parallel move four boards to the out side, i.e. 4 with the target four and with the feet, and see what happens. Then adjust from there.

Ended up playing super deep. Oil was fresh and backends were crisp but there was no way i was able to keep my ball on the lane playing right of middle arrow. The right lane was drier so i ended up using my ball ball to play across 3rd arrow to a break point of about 5 board. Didnt win but i had a ton of fun

Glad you had a good time playing on some different conditions. Some of the most fun (and frustrating) times I've had bowling were at tournament in new houses.
