This is a little bit of a different type of question than what most are probably use to. The summer league team I am bowling on has a husband and wife on the team who work and the bowling alley as well. The wife has known where I work and has known I sell cars at this particular dealership since I started bowling back in February. Recently, these two members of my team came to the dealership where I work, knowing I work here and purchased two vehicles from another salesperson. This took food out of my kids mouths. Also, recently the wife has been very rude to my niece on open bowling night. These two instances have severely rubbed me the wrong way and am debating on how to handle it. I have been bowling like crap the past few weeks in league but have recently started bowling well again in practice sessions. Should I continue to bowl bad on purpose to take money away from them like they did me or should I just cancel my membership at the bowling alley once the league season is over. Obviously, me bowling in this league is not doing me any good even though I paid for the usbc membership and paid for my scores to be sanctioned. I have been searching for my membership card as well as my name to show up under the usbc membership search and have not found my name yet. What should I do?

Personally I'd just find another alley if you have one close. It sounds like they aren't really respectful of you... if you feel like it, you could tell them that when you cancel everything from there (I probably would - no one likes to lose a customer and they might learn a thing or 2). I wouldn't bowl poorly on purpose though, does you no good and you might as well enjoy yourself as much as you can the rest of the way. The only way I think you could take money away from them directly would be to just stop showing up and that can have some negative repurcussions for you too (aside from being a jerk move).
As for the USBC info I think it takes awhile for anything to come up on the site, but you should have a temporary membership slip that came with the application when you filled it out and paid?

Totally you have two very different things in this post
#1. They are in no way responsible for using you to purchase their car. Maybe they have had a prior relationship with the other person they bought from. Maybe they don't like mixing pleasure (bowling) with Business (car buying). Its possible they just don't really like you that's their business and none of yours. Your bowling teammates not family.
#2. Being rude to your niece. This you have right to be upset about there is no excuse for acting rude with your clientele. I would talk with her about this and find out what the issue was and let her know it is not acceptable.
I have been in sales most of my life and I know situations like that hurt but I also know that I have around ten clients who sale cars I have 30 clients who are realtors I really don't need 29 pissed off people because I chose someone else out of the 30 to sell my home.

#1 I have no need to expand on what I have said thus far concerning them buying the car.
#2 No being rude to my niece is definitely not acceptable.
#3 I have been in sales for a long time myself and I understand how the sales game works with all customers. There is a common courtesy among friends though that if you are going to purchase a vehicle but not amongst friends you go to a different dealership. So no offense meant to you by this statement but as long as I have been in the business I was not asking if you thought they were in the right or not for purchasing from a different salesperson. I was not asking if somebody thought whether or not they did not want to mix business with pleasure. Common courtesy amongst friends goes a long way. However, Thank you for your expert SALES advise.

Well that is easier said than done considering both alleys in my area are owned by the same people and all of the employees rotate back and forth between the two. Decisions decisions.

I have a similar issue...stated in another thread.
I have a feeling that a "rift" has developed between me and another teammate and since he's made no effort to apologize...I'm assuming we'll just keep playing on the same team and not really speaking to one another. But obviously we won't be teammates should our employer field another team.
It sucks. Bowling is usually so much fun and to have a person in your LEAGUE that you don't get along with is bad enough...but on your TEAM can be unbearable.
Not sure about the car thing. I can see how it made the OP upset. IF they knew he worked there and they were looking for a car...it seems like a real slight...not to mention stupid on their part because having a good relationship with a car dealer salesman usually can result in a pretty good deal.

Totally I wasn't trying to give you sales advice. I was trying to make the argument that you were making too big a deal of their car buying choice. Wasn't trying to be offensive to you in the least way I understand being upset about their choice but at the end of the day these people really are your friends I would value their friendship more than two car sales.
You tanking on your team should not be an option. If you feel you cannot coexist with them to the end of the season find a replacement for yourself and quit. Tanking is bad sportsmanship prove your the bigger man and move on.
On you comment about shopping at a different dealership maybe but I will say if I didn't shop at every dealership that I knew multiple people at in my town I would have to go quite a long ways to purchase my cars maybe your city is bigger than mine and it wouldn't be a problem there.

Trust me man. It's just simply the principalities of the matter. I do not care who they purchase their vehicle from but coming to my place of work after visiting with me and getting me to tell them how to trade out of a vehicle that they are super upside down in is a big time slap in the face. But whatever, I will finish my season and then move on to a different league without them. My membership at this house will soon be terminated as well. Given this a lot of thought and quite frankly I would rather have the money to play a round of golf instead of unlimited bowling.

instead of unlimited bowling.
ewww there are very few things i would sacrifice for unlimited bowling, golf is not one of them. good luck man, i hope you find a team that fits you.

I am light years better at golf than bowling even though that is not a fair comparison. Have not spent near as much time working on the bowling technique yet as I have golf. It has been over 1 year since I have even touched my golf clubs and can still pick them up at any given time, walk out on the course and shoot par.

Bowling bad just so your team places lower and gets less money, so that they get less money would be senseless. You would be losing money yourself and if you have any other team members your taking money away from them just because you are mad at those two.

It could be a misunderstanding.
Or it could be that these are a couple of the myriad of really crappy people out there.

Man they asked you advice on it and then bought it from someone else. Now that is low class. I still wouldn't tank but yeah I might quit and I would not have anything else to do with them. That sucks big ones

i had similar issue with the owner of the alley nearest to my home, we had been teammates in the passed and always got along great, but when i bought one ball off of bowlingball.com he had a major melt down and refused to drill my ball. i now travel 30+ miles to bowl when i could only walk 2 blocks. it sucks and honestly
That is always a tricky situation. I buy a lot of balls online because I get them on clearance for super bargains. And many are discontinued models...so not really available to buy in the pro shop anyways. But I still feel like the pro shop guy at my center doesn't like me anymore because he knows I have 2 balls that I got somewhere else and had drilled somewhere else. Even though, when it came time to start my new team...I sent him 4 players who bought shoes, balls, bags, and one got a lesson. AND...I probably will buy my daughter a ball from him and have him drill it. So it's not like I haven't supported him.
And I have to worry about MWhite....gotta make sure I don't tick him off...if I do, I gotta drive all the way to VEGAS to get a ball tri-grip drilled!! That would suck. And I'd probably have to play some outrageous "vegas price" to get it drilled. So I gotta make sure I only irritate MWhite "just enough"...but not too much. Otherwise I have to choose between an inferior ball driller or a long *** trip to Vegas. That, Or MWhite drills my ball left handed or upside down. That would suck.

My pro shop guy was stoked that I won the IQ. He seems to be pretty low key about that sort of thing.

My pro shop guy was happy for me even offered me a discount on drilling it for me 30 vs $40 he normally charges for outside balls. He has even looked up stuff on the net that I've asked him about and told me where I could get it cheaper. He did that to try and save me money on my shoes but I bought them from him anyway. Can't beat somebody who takes care of you.

If you said you won the ball in a league raffle/online contest or something, would he have been as offended? Just seems like something really petty to get that upset about...
I'm also kind of wondering about the car thing. Call me cynical (or hopeful) but any idea if the salesman who did help them just said "oh yeah TotallyDefiant said you should work with me, it's all good!"? That might be something worth asking and depending on your answer you know what kind of people they (or your coworker) are...

My thoughts exactly, I don't do passive aggressive had WAY too many ex g/f's and finaces that did to ever pull that **** on somebody else (like throwing the game intentionally or packing up your **** and quitting).
Seriously, it doesn't even have to be a major conflict, I would just ask them why they chose to give their business to somebody else when they know you, and value your opinion and especially since you helped them out in your area of expertise. Being direct in life will leave you with much less pent up anger inside, at least IMO.

Decided to not intentionally throw the league. Will continue to work on the game to get better even though going backwards is happening before moving forward can. Had to stand a lot further left lastnight and play lines that I am not accustom to playing one handed. Had to stand 20, target 14 at the arrows with the breakpoint being around 10. I was seeing my revs closer to that of my 2handed throw lastnight one handed. Did not score that great considering I was not use to playing that kind of line but made me happy to finally see a sharp reaction on the backend.
As far as the other goes. I hinted around about it lastnight. The wife had more to do with what happened than anything. She is somewhat of a royal b*.. But got some great tips from her husband lastnight that seemed to really help me. Will see what happens next week.
