Dear Iceman:

Well, I have a reservation in Laughlin on the 26th for sweeps…but if the infamous Iceman is willing to make that trip…I could probably re-arrange my schedule a bit and head to Vegas first…stay there the 24th, then check in early in Laughlin on the 25th.

See if I can't get lesson #2 from Rob while I'm out there…so yes Iceman…I'd be up for that challenge.

Now normally, I'd expect 28 pins handicap per game given I'm rolling in with a 170 average and only 1 year of experience versus a guy with 3 years of experience and a rumored 195-210 average. But, if it really IS his birthday…I mean, to live as long as he has is QUITE the accomplishment…I'd give him the 28 pins.

Now, if Rob joins in…I don't know what his average is…but he's an unofficial pro with 35 years of experience on his HOME LANES/conditions. He's either offering up some handicap or giving me a 50% reduced lesson cost…cuz I'm confident and all…and obviously a future USBC Senior Masters Champion…but at THIS POINT in my development…we have to be reasonable.

Well, I'm sure Rob can recommend some lanes. I'd prefer the DRYEST lanes in Vegas. And if Rob is participating…I'd prefer lanes that he either doesn't bowl at regularly AND/OR where he tends to bowl HORRIBLY.

I'm not worried about Iceman beating me…like THATs gonna happen…I'm more worried about RobM.

Ice…if this is going to actually HAPPEN…I need to know by the end of August so I can make the necessary changes to my travel schedule.

There haven't been any wood lanes in Vegas for at least the last ten years that I've lived here. As for where to bowl, I'm sorry to disappoint you guys, but I really don't have any preferences. Depending on the day and how the stars are positioned, I can bowl really well or really horribly on any of them. As to Aslan's preference for really dry lanes, those with the most friction on the outside are probably at Red Rock, but then again, that's where I bowl most of my leagues. Depending on where you guys decide to stay, the Gold Coast is probably the most centrally located, and they usually have lanes available.

NOTHING is a given on any given day Aslan,,, YOU beat Mike White scratch once, RIGHT?? I plan on making this trip for sure! ONLY thing that could hamper the exact date of arrival could be BAD WEATHER... Rain on my bike not a problem, but severe Strom Type weather might slow me down. My plan is to be there, on my birthday sept 24th!! Too bad about the wood,,,,, I would have thought there is all kinds of WOOD in a place like Vegas!!! LOL

I need to get out the road maps, I do plan on riding my bike out, and taking as much as possible all the OLD ROUTE 66 detours as possible! How cool will that be,,,, turning 66 years old and doing the Route 66! It all came to me in a DREAM!

Then as a reward... getting to meet you and Aslan, and then destroying you BOTH!! LOL or vice/versa!! We need to come up with a format,,, which lanes, how many games..... THIS WILL BE SCRATCH.... None of that handicap crap!! REAL MEN, and the 3 of us R,,,,, Don't go for that special Olympics' stuff! Even playing field to Iceman is 3 men going at it for the PURE GLORY of Victory!

I might even talk Geneo2u into coming out with me to take you both on as a team. ( I like two man teams), not a lot of sitting around, I like to keep the flow moving! We bowled yesterday, Saturday, at that mom pop place from 6pm to 10pm, I mentioned the trip I plan on doing, and his words were, ( "ICE DON"T TEMPT ME") so he is a maybe, but BANK on me being there! If it works out better for you Aslan, or Rob to be there on a different day, Let me know... My birthday falls on a Wednesday this year,,, which is the Same Real Day I Was Born!! I could be lethal bowling you guys with all that Karma behind me!

So if you would rather do it another day, that's too bad!! Actually I open, LOL,,, I do want this to happen,,, what better way to celebrate Iceman's birthday, then to bowl with 2 respected bowing opponents. West Coast Aslan, and Vegas Big Bob! :rolleyes:

Ok,, picture this,,, I drive Route 66, I get to Vegas, stay at a motel Room 66, Celebrate my 66 birthday, bowling on Lane 66 at the ( Route 66 Bowing alley! 6 has always been my lucky number! Could 66 be even luckier??? If the 24th works for both of you, plan on me being there, any recommendations on a reasonable motel would be appreciated Rob!

Wednesday is the slowest day of the week in Vegas. Once we decide where to bowl, I'd suggest you call that hotel and see what kind of rate they'll give you. It'll probably be pretty reasonable in the middle of the week during the summer season. I will be bowling league at noon on Wednesday at Red Rock then, but we could do it early before league starts. Red Rock has the driest outsides on the planet, so Aslan should love it.

I am planning on bowling both Iceman and Rob scratch. If Gene wants to join the slaughter…have him come along. But no Iceman, you can't have Gene prop you up in some kind of half *** elderly doubles tournament. If you need Gene to bowl for you, then save the gas and just send him!

We'll set the date as 6:00PM on September 24th at Gold Coast. That may change if 6:00PM does;t work due to leagues or something. I'll change my Laughlin plans accordingly. When it gets closer I'll book my night in Vegas and call Gold Coast to reserve the lanes. I figure a pair of lanes, 4 games each, 1 warm-up, then 3 that count.

If you get there early for practice, thats fine, but I'll have to make sure it's (the practice) not on the actual lanes we're going to bowl on.

Good luck Iceman…you're going to NEED it.

We have a lot to discuss in regards to how this is going to come down, and even the CHEERY picking of lanes that you, or Rob like. Maybe we put a number of bowling establishments in a bowl and draw one out the day of! That way no shenanigans, can take place! Not that I don't trust you Aslan.... I just don't!!!! LOL

ON MY BIRTHDAY,,, 66 years, and I am taking on a 30 year old, and a Gold Level Coach! How better a way for me to spend my BIRTHDAY then Rolling the balls, against two formidable bowlers,,, The San Diego Champ,,,, and The Coach of the Stars in Vegas!!! (:).... Can an old broken down worn out X Iron Worker pull this off?????

We bowl on one of my seniors leagues tomorrow for the championship, its a bowl off, we have a one game lead! This will be a huge Ego lift if when the chips are down,,, Iceman, Icewoman, and Stewart take the trophy!

Glad to see you so excited Iceman. FYI, I am a Silver Level Coach, not Gold Level, and the only stars that I've coached are located in the sky at night. As far as picking the lanes goes, you guys are more than welcome to pick them. I bowl all over the valley and am quite capable of bowling very well or really horribly most anywhere depending whether my head happens to be on my shoulders that day.

I am really looking forward to meeting you Rob! Iceman, can bowl VERY, VERY Good on some days, and VERY, VERY, average on others, ALSO!! LOL... Lets hope we Both bring OUR BEST games the day we bowl for the Big PRIZE!

To be honest, LOL,,,, My Main concern is Aslan!!!

This Lion Man seems to have this uncanny ability to bowl Great Scores, when the chips are down, and lets face it,,,,,,there are a lot of chips in Vegas!

Between now and then we need to decide a format that is agreeable to the 3 of us.

A lot is on the line, with the meeting of 3 bowling warriors!

I know that Aslan will be rearranging his schedule, so I want to MAKE SURE THAT ICE will be there on the 24th!

IF,,, IF<<< the weather looks bad the week of,,,, I might have to jump in my Wife's Prius and make the trip! BANK ON IT, short of a disaster on the way to Vegas! ICEMAN will be there! Funny, we have had 3 Prius! When we moved back to Kansas City form Modesto Ca, it was a 1800 mile trip. we averaged 60 mpg.... it took, 30 gallons of gas to make the trip! (better gas mileage then I get on my bike, which is about 42mpg)

I don't know your league average, but mine is #@! to %$, but like YOU, I can do a 700 plus on a good day! So the scratch sounds good to me! I am not sure what average the sandbagging Aslan has, but he has agreed to bowl scratch also, knowing he is a MUCH better bowler then his sandy record shows! He,,,Aslan,,,,lives form moments like this, nothing would elevate his sandbagging self-esteem more then to destroy us!

I am sure in his dreams, THAT scenario takes place every night between now and then! Its too bad that in reality, his dream will be turned into a nightmare in Vegas when Ice, and Bob turn his imaginary dream into a reality nightmare!! (:)

Okay Mr. Iceman. I'll be driving to Vegas on the 24th.

Not sure if I'll stay there Wednesday night or head to Laughlin Wednesday night.

My suggestion is that you head to Vegas on the 23rd, so you're already there on the 24th. That way we can schedule the lanes without having to worry that it'll be too early (and you're not there yet) or too late (and run into conflicts with Wednesday night leagues.

ROB...assuming the main event will be sometime Wednesday afternoon...I'd like to schedule lesson #2 for either Tuesday night, Wednesday morning, or Wednesday after the event...whatever and wherever best suits your schedule.

I AM agreeing to a scratch format quite simply because should I win, then I win. And should I lose, I'll have a great excuse that the two 200+ average bowlers refused to give me any handicap..which HAD I GOTTEN...I'd have easily defeated them. It takes all the pressure off me actually. It's a win/win.

For me, the strategy will be simple. Iceman is easy to rile up. Ever since my first encounter with him on this website when I accused of him of being on drugs...his weakness has been repeatedly exposed. I can get in his head easier than I can make Bowl1820 mad at me....which was THAT easy (just mentioning it!). So yeah, Iceman isn't my concern. It's like fighting Superman. Sure, on Earth...Superman is nearly indestructable....just like Iceman in Missouri. But we won't be in Missouri. So, I predict he'll throw a lot of gutters and splits and by the 3rd game claim that the oil pattern is screwed up or the long drive is wearing on him or some excuse. I already had to deal with that with MWhite in the FASCAVZBHMI.

Much like the FASCAVZBHMI, it wasn't MWhite I had to worry about...just like this won't be Iceman that I'll have to worry about...it's Rob. Like ZDawg earlier this year...I wasn't worried about MWhite...I was worried that ZDAwg with his massive handicap would be unbeatable. And it took every frame to defeat ZDawg...he was 2 shots away from victory! :eek: Now it's Rob I have to worry about. He'll be nearly impossible to rattle...playing on his home ice. Vegas is intimidating for those of us lucky enough not to live there. You walk in to the center and it's a giant casino!! And everything is huge and fancy and there's lights and noises...Iceman and I aren't used to such nonsense. Even the cloud of cigarette smoke you have to force through...it's liable to kill Iceman before he makes it to the escalator!! That or he'll see other white-haired folks at the slots and get stuck there and miss the event altogether!! Those machines are HYPNOTIC!!

I will change my Laughlin arrangements accordingly Iceman...and as we get the details settled, I'll make plans to head to Vegas first. My only hope...is when (not if) Iceman falls...yet another BBer that has been tested and found wanting...will he return to the site with his usual swagger and enthusiasm? Or will he "fade away"...maybe go to a different site? Maybe I should let him win. I mean, it's his birthday...which he has like another 10 tops...he travels across the country...it just seems mean to crush him. But I will...because I'm mean and have a "rep" to protect....no room for mercy on the STREETS yo!!

I am planning my Vegas trip for around those dates. Now that I read this I will do whatever I can to get there for this. The wife just said "end of September". So I will keep you posted.

Again...this is a SINGLES tournament!!! Stop trying to add bowlers to rescue you. I'm already letting you have 37 pins of handicap to bowl scratch...yet you're still so afraid of a beatdown that you keep proposing that it be a TEAM event and you want to add two more 200+ average bowlers.

It's a SINGLES tournament. I don't need a team of pros to help prop ME up!

I mean, what is this, the amateur version of the PBA League? Where Iceman lays down a challenge then has a fantasy draft to pick who bowls for "Team Iceman"?? Listen Terrell Owens...or Chris Hardwick....lace up YOUR shoes...don't pick pros to bowl FOR you!!!

Iceman, I understand it's scary and you can probably "feel" the impending doom that you've rushed into...but if you're gettting cold feet...please back out gracefully BEFORE I make my Vegas hotel reservation.

Ice...certainly Rob and Gene and Mudpuppy are going to bowl...it's a SINGLES INVITATIONAL...and they are ALL invited. But how well or badly they do...will not impact how much or little I defeat you by.

Tick,,,, tick,,,,, tick,,,,, tick,,,, I will leave Kansas City either Sunday or Monday depending on the weather,,, its 1500 miles of bike riding, pulling my trailer! I doubt I will have any energy left when I get there, since I will be 66 the day we do battle!

Iceman didn't really bowl that badly. It's a rather elementary attempt at psychological manipulation. But, by the time the event is about to happen...I imagine his league scores the week before will look a LOT like that. By then, I'll be so much in his head...that I'll be the camping host of Iceman's KOA...I'll have my own concrete slab and permanent fire pit. He won't be able to see a bowling ball or any round object for that matter that doesn't cause him to physically shake.

If I plan it right, my first 800 series will fall literally the week before the event. Imagine that...me getting the elusive 800 BEFORE Iceman!!? What better final nail in his psyche coffin?

This is definitely going to be fun. I got to get on the boss about booking flights for vegas - tick tock. Funny we were going during that time anyways. Works out good.

I just got a brand new GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition that shoots up to 4K video. I am not as cool as Belmo with the google glass but I do have a chest mount I could wear and basically video my perspective on the event. Might have to test it out when shooting VBT this month which I will probably do next week.

Ok I think I am back on track and I think it's going to work out even better for me. I have tons of vacation time - my daughter and Mrs. MP (who are coming to LAS with me) do not. So I think I will fly a couple of days earlier, bowl and then meet them on Thursday or something. Going to try very hard to set it in concrete and have flights / hotel booked by early next week. My Uncle might come and bowl too.

I have to bowl at South Point in November so maybe I could call this doing research and it becomes a business expense.

Why do you word it that way as opposed to each participant is responsible for their own expenses?

The way you word it, if Iceman gets mad and punches a ball return doing $100 damage (to the ball return, not Iceman) all the participants would have to split the damage cost.

More likely is, if 2 people have to bowl an extra game, someone has to do the math to calculate the cost of 2 extra games divided by X number of participants.

NIGHT... bowled from 6 pm to almost 11pm had our own two lanes all night.... (remember its a 6 lane house!!) We all brought our own treats, beer, and mixed drinks... LOVE THE Atmosphere,,,, is VERY unique!!! It was a fresh oil pattern 40 ft... challenging, but playable...

So what are we doing Wednesday night?? I vote crazy drunk Hangover style adventure...steal a cop car and Mike Tyson's Tiger...maybe marry a stripper....the whole nine yards. Guys... I really don't care. Whatever format you like. Wherever you want to bowl is fine with me. I'm just looking forward to meeting all of you. Meeting Aslan a few months ago was a real eye-opener, as he is nothing like his internet personality. Just tell me when and where and I'll be there.

Rob, since I won't have a car, and it will probably still be hot, not to mention the hassle of loading my 6 ball storm bag! I am looking for lanes that are easy to access from a hotel/motel room. After I get there I would like to just unload my gear, and not have to worry about loading it all up again to go bowl!

If Sam's Town does not have inside access from my room, then can you give me some other Hotels that do.

Virtually every bowling center in Vegas is in a casino and has inside access from your room. In cases where the bowling center is on the second floor (Gold Coast, Sun Coast, Orleans, Southpoint), as well as when it is in the basement (Sams Town, Texas Station), there are separate elevators to get to the bowling center. Sunset Station, Red Rock, Silver Nugget and Sante Fe bowling centers are on the main floor. Sunset, Silver Nugget and Santa Fe have direct access from the outside of the building. Wherever we end up bowling, you can anticipate a significant walk from your room to the bowling center.

Iceman starts your professional bowling clock the first time someone takes you to an alley and you touch a bowling ball. So according to that logic...given all of us went to an alley and touched a bowling ball by the age of 7....THAT is when the clock starts. So I've been bowling almost 33 years. Granted...up until 2013...over 32 of those years...I amassed a whopping < 200 games...and between 2013-2014 have added over 900...but Iceman's world is like a weird Dr'Seuss hangover...you just kinda follow along as best you can.

But for the sane/sober folks...no diapers...and I have been bowling almost exactly ONE year...bought my first ball drilled for my hand in August 2013....joined my first league in September 2013.

The CHAMPION of the tournament...is the CHAMPION...however...in terms of ASLAN VS. ICEMAN...whoever finishes higher...is the WINNER of all sidebets, sidepots, battles of pride/glory, trash talking, etc...

This will allow EVERYONE to participate...it will crown a TRUE champion the SAME way a champion is crowned each week in the PBA telecasts...AND will allow me to defeat you in the most epic fashion imaginable. I will be rooting for YOU...Iceman...to be the NUMBER 1 seed...and me the NUMBER 5 seed...so that I will not only have the pleasure of defeating EVERYONE en route to the finals...BUT...will be able to take the championship crown by defeating YOU mono-A-mono.

(But...should I be seeded #1...then I will root for Iceman to climb the ladder to meet me...thats okay too)

This will be EPIC!!! It will probably be the most watched Youtube video of bowling EVER!! THIS is your last chance at GLORY!! A decade from now...you'l be 7 6 !!! You think you'll be bowling at 76!! You'll be in one of those electric carts they sell during the commercials that air during "Walker Texas Ranger". You'll have retired your bowling balls to make room for a neverending stock of colostomy bags. THIS is your chance at Glory Iceman!! THIS!! MWHite and Rob M. probably got another 6-12 left in em. Mudpuppy can't die before his 7th child graduates high school...so he's pretty much locked in for another 30 years. YOU have hit your prime...this is AS GOOD AS IT GETS. If you don't win now...what stories will you tell in the retirement center? Will you tell them about how you once drove to Vegas and finished 4th out of 5?? THIS is your last shot at glory before stuff starts falling off of ya. You MUST do well.

I got 2 more years before I tragically die before my time. Thats 2 years on the upswing!! By 2017 when I'm tragically killed rescuing an infant from a Bear attack...I'll be at the TOP of my game! As far as I know, Aslan only started bowling a year or two ago.

HE just says that to cover up the fact that he CAN'T, Bowl!!! A couple close family friends his, have emailed me! They said in a nut shell: " Iceman we know what a hell of a guy you are, could you see it in you large, giving, compassionate, cold heart to go easy on the kitty cat!! My reply was, NO! THAT SAME family member told ME, that the family almost went Bankrupt, funding his damn coaching lessons in bowling!!!! He/She said it was in the thousands!!!!!!!

I have no idea if he wore diapers that recently.

IT's MY Birthday so, Just to let you know, I have booked my two night stay, Sept 23, and Sept 24! Very reasonable rate.

I am not going to say which establishment I have picked for GOOD REASON! I won't be able to practice the lane
until the day I get there. Let me just say, I did a lot of research, and my pick might surprise you Rob!

I ask the guy at the desk if he knew you, and he said,,,, No,,,, no can't say that I do know him!

I am not worried about Mike, and Aslan,,, they live too far away to get some practice on the lanes I selected. I will make it all know in a FAIR amount of TIME!

I now have the place picked out, lets talk about a good time for everyone! Mid-day?? 1pm?? sound good? Or does HIGH NOON sound cool!!

Yeah, given Vegas's reputation for the worst school system, one of the highest crime rates, the abundance of down-and-out suicidal gamblers, hookers, drugs, foreclosure rates, intolerant temperatures, and lack of really any cultural significance whatsoever...I honestly don't think our little internet bowling tournament of misfit boys is gonna tarnish the otherwise stellar reputation of Sin City.

Ummm. can I get a PM of some kind by September 1st so that I can make a reservation or at least reserve something at a nearby discount meth addict motel? I plan on traveling there very, very early in the AM to beat the traffic on Wednesday and hopefully get there in time to check in, and "maybe" even throw 1-3 games on the lanes just to get a "feel" for things. I might not stay AT the casino...I may stay at a nearby place at an extreme discount...or in a luxurious suite if I win the lotto before then. But realize...Vegas has this really annoying tendency to "fill up" due to stupid conventions and stuff. You'd think with 170 hotels...vacancy wouldn't be an issue...but I'd prefer to not have to stay in Barstow beacuse you waited till the week before to let us in on the secret.

I'd reccomend 2-4PM type of a general timeframe. If we wait too late, then a lot of these centers fill up with league play on a Wednesday. But if we make it too early, it puts the pressure on those of us (especially you) travelling. Maybe you could talk to the center, and ask them for a 2hr time slot that would be preferential in terms of availability.

Not too early on Wednesday, I have to bowl league on Tuesday Night, so I was hoping to get a good night sleep at home, then head out at about 8:00 am, for an approx 3.5 hour trip.

Well...no on Costco. I refuse to pay a "membership fee" for the privaledge of shopping at a given store. We'll see what happens. Don't get your hopes up...I am a warrior intent on your destruction, humiliation, and outright misery...I was just asking about cakes to pass the time.

Okay it's time for my prediction for how this is going to end so here goes.

Iceman never makes it there he is run over by a Whole Foods truck in transit but at least it was organic

Mike White shows up but is so busy correcting the grammar of everyone else on the lanes he never throws a single ball

Aslan takes a lesson from Rob before bowling and Rob convinces Aslan to create a new targeting system based on how many boards his ball breaks divided by the phase of the moon and the hypotenuse of a right triangle. Aslan sits in a corner trying to run numbers on his calculator all night

In this scenario Rob would be the winner so congrats.

VERY funny,,, LOL,,,!!! And if I have to go, while on my bike between Kansas city Missouri, and Vegas, what better way to go then with Organic Produce engulfing, and surrounding my body!! Not a bad way to go! Fear NOT,,, I will try hard to avoid any, and all Whole Foods Trucks!!

YES HE DOES have home court advantage, that is why I have to wait till a couple days before the battle in Vegas!! Why,, should Mike, Aslan, and Ice give him a little over a month to practice on the VERY battle ground where Ice destroys the 3 of them Once and for All!!

While I am looking forward to bowling with all of you, please don't drag me into any of this grudge match sh*t! I have stated many times that I am the first to admit that I am a crappy bowler. I don't define myself as a bowler, I define myself as a writer and a teacher. One of my local students recently won $6000 in the TAT tournament. That made me feel very good. Yesterday in a league where I average over 200, I bowled a pair of lanes that I just could not hit. I bowled very well. That made me feel good. I shot 470. That didn't make me feel nearly as bad as you might think it would. I'm rooting for all of you to beat me badly, wherever we bowl. Iceman will say it's because he has the gift, Aslan will say it's because he has the plan, Mike White will say it's because he has the best grammar, it really doesn't matter. I will take some credit whoever wins, because I believe that the knowledge that I have shared here has made you all better bowlers.

Now, as to where to bowl. Please don't think that I am going to go out and practice for this. I'm not. I rountinely bowl leagues and pot games at the following centers: Red Rock, Suncoast, Goldcoast, Southpoint, Orleans, Santa Fe, Strike Zone, and Silver Nugget. That only leaves Sam's Town, Pahrump, Mesquite and Wildfire, and I have bowled at each of them in the past. I really don't care where we bowl, however, once you decide it would probably be a good idea to let me know. Winter leagues will have started by then, and there is nowhere that you can just waltz in and find open lanes. You might need some help. I do know quite a few people in this town.

Rob, I am most of the time very average,,,, and true, I have never had a 400 series yet, ( something to shoot for in the future), I have had my share of low 500's!! Otherwise my average would be in the Gifted area of 220! It wil be fun, if Mike White has GREAT OIL!!

I will have fun just being with the people I love, and respect most in the world .

Great Choice for Two Reasons:

For you: Sam's Town is further from my house than any other bowling center in the valley, so I haven't bowled there in four or five years.

For me: When I bowled there four or five years ago, it was in a Bowling Writers tournament and I shot 755 to place second.

The Choice came to Iceman in a DREAM! I believe the Dream was a vision of things to come for Two reasons: One,,, Dreams can come through, it can happen to you, if your young at heart! ICEMAN may be 66 that day, but I am young at heart!! Number two: On one of my visits to Vegas, while staying at Sams Town RV camp ground ,,, while watching an Elvis impersonator, I won a huge pot, with a Royal straight flush!

We both have had LUCK at Sam's Town, my friend,,,, and lets face it, no matter how gifted, or knowledgably a bowler may be, Lady Luck plays a part of most BIG SCORES!! (especially in the case of Aslan)!!!!

Okay it's time for my prediction for how this is going to end so here goes.

I also predict neither Iceman nor Mudpuppy nor MWhite will actually show up and it'll just be Rob giving me a lesson at Sam's Town while we eat Iceman's birthday cake...but lets just assume this thing works out where everyone actually shows up. HERE are my official predictions based on a 3-game qualification and 5-person stepladder finals:

Game 1: Aslan (187); Iceman (171); Mudpuppy (198); MWhite (173); RobM (202).
Game 2: Aslan (196); Iceman (186); Mudpuppy (220); MWhite (216); RobM (202).
Game 3: Aslan (194); Iceman (233); Mudpuppy (222); MWhite (176); RobM (241).

Stepladder Finals:
Game 1: Aslan vs. MWhite: Aslan (195); MWhite (181).

Game 2: Aslan vs. Iceman: Iceman (189); Aslan (187).

Game 3: Mudpuppy vs. Iceman: Mudpuppy (246); Iceman (200).

Game 4: RobM vs. Mudpuppy: RobM (215); Mudpuppy (191).

Now, my last prediction (1stABHMAVZSCI), I predicted ZDawg to beat me for 1st...and ZDawg was about 7-9 pins short of that. But I DID predict I'd come in ahead of MWhite and I did. I also predicted I'd beat MWhite on wood...although I didn't predict by such a large margin.

But here's why I picked this the way I did:
1) As the least talented bowler with the least ability to strike AND problems on heavier oil AND the poorest spare shooting...even if I step up my game...I simply can't pick up spares as well as the rest of the field and I think that'll me to sub-200 games.

2) Iceman will probably struggle out of the gate as these Vegas lanes are not going to be what he's used to...but he'll figure them out quick enough.

3) MWhite has the talent...but I just don't think he has the luck. And I'm like kryptonite to him...my mere presence is going to knock him off his game. I WON'T have the wood lane advantage here...and Mike's high rev rate will be dangerous...but after a 4 hour car ride...with all the excitement...and the Aslan factor...I think he'll be shy of his enormous potential.

4) Muduppy has the highest ceiling...but Rob has the Vegas experience. He downplays it...but all us non-Vegas folks...just having to walk through a strange casino with stupid slot machine noises tripping over old ladies and their walkers...we're going to be out of our element. But Rob, will be right at home.

To beat Rob IN Vegas...you gotta have a 200+ game in you MINIMUM. And I just don't got that on Vegas conditions. I could get lucky and maybe win in a 1-game showdown against Iceman or MWhite...but Mudpuppy just has too high a ceiling and Rob is too experienced/consistent. My only hope is that after 3 games of qualifying, the lanes dry up enough where the competition starts experiencing too much movement...and my lower rev rate starts to play better. But thats my only shot at winning this thing. The smarter money is on Rob or Mudpuppy.

Still here still working on a plane ticket - Mrs. MP had to complicate things and try to add people who I know aren't going. My daughter's 21 year old friend has to get permission from her parents who hate me for no good reason (other than I am an anarchist and social misfit). Been busy with work, kids, motorcycle trip to Ohio (hocking hills - bad a$$), selling a house, buying a new truck - the laundry list goes on. Hell or high water I will be in Vegas to bowl with y'all. This is going to be too much fun. Thanks for the vote of confidence there Aslan - if I can get in the zone and focus I think I can do quite well. But being Vegas and the general bedlam that ensues I will probably tip one or ten too many, bowl 105 and moonwalk when I get a 6. Who knows. Regardless BIG FUN will be had. Sorry for my absence - my p-o-o-p is in a widespread group. Trying to get it back together. I need to do major work on the bike - tested all kinds of new gear this past weekend. I need to change tires, adjust suspension, mount hard mounts for gopros, fix the back brake, lube & adjust the clutch cable and adjust the throttle freeplay, lube it, etc. Lots to do. I leave for Tennessee on September 8 for my 6 day motorcycle mayhem adventure. The "real" trip - this past one was just a warm up. Here's my latest video from Hocking Hills:

Hey you should ride your bike out to Vegas... I remember doing it back when I was close to your age, on a Ninja 1000R, with a Belly Dancer I was dating at the time on the back! YOU TALK about tough.... lol 1500 miles two up Ninja,, it was in 1987 as I remember it. What a story that was!!

Maybe we could hook up on the way,,,, Drive in together.. Just a thought! I might go on into California just for the heck of it, after the bowl off!

I am going to have to get one of those Camera's!! What is the best way to go, in regards to equipment for the buck!

(:) Good OLD days,,,,, now I am just OLD, but better then not being old and dead! (:)

Mike its a REAL turn on for the women, and for you it would be a chick magnet!!!! Every time I put it on Mike, my wife gets all hot, and the next thing you know, we are making Whooopie,,,, with Iceman wearing nothing but his Cherry, Hot Cinnamon helmet!

She likes being able to put her fingers in the hole on the bowling ball helmet, when we are on a roll!!!!!! :rolleyes:

I must admit we have a ball, when Iceman is wearing it!! As for me, I think it works even better then Viagra, in regards to keeping the pins erect, and in their proper place!

That scent,,,, Hot Cinnamon Cherry, works for Iceman, and his wife!

I like your thinking Iceman but I'm going to have to respectfully decline on riding to vegas - I'm not that young, lol. I'd be crippled and unable to bowl by the time I got there - the R1 is not made for cross country trips.

GoPro - they have the price locked down at $399 for the Hero 3+ black edition - get it anywhere: Amazon, Best Buy, local camera shop, etc. Don't get anything but a GoPro - i.e. contour or other knockoff - as you will be disappointed. Tons of mounting options for infinite possibilities. Tons of accessories. I am about to buy the extended battery and LCD screen. The Hero 3+ you can install a smartphone app to view the shot or footage as well. I had major issues with battery life in Ohio. Going to buy a recharging stone and the extended battery so I can have extra battery life and charge on the go. I had my powerocks charger that I use for my phone but it doesn't have enough juice to charge fast enough and it only has 1 charging port. I will bring the GoPro to vegas so you can check it out. Well worth the $. It's a true bargain in terms in capability vs. way more expensive cameras. And an expensive camera you can't submerge to 131' or ride in the rain or mount on anything (very easily). I mounted the remote on my handlebars so I can turn it off and on while riding - big plus so I don't have wasted parking lot footage, etc. I also mounted a radar detector with LED HARD light in my helmet:

The remote for the GoPro is mounted just to the right of the radar detector with velcro and safety wired to the radar detector mount (it's $79 for the remote so don't want to lose it - $0.0001 of safety wire is cheap insurance). You can control up to like 6 or 8 cameras with 1 remote. Eventually I am going to buy 5 or 6 to get multiple angles, etc.

I think we've settled on scratch...but I AM still open to making this a handicap tournament since that will GREATLY increase my chances of winning.

I also propose the rule that no player can practice on the pair we will be using BEFORE the event begins. Practice is fine the night before or even that day if you get there early...but NOT on the actual pair we will be playing on once they've been oiled that day. It would be nice to have them freshly oiled before the event begins, but I doubt even Rob has enough "pull" to get them to do that without some serious bribage.

Also, given his advanced age, if Iceman passes away mid-game...does he receive zeros for the rest of the frames and have a chance to move on, thus giving the next player an automactic victory (because he's dead and can't bowl)? Or is his death automatic disqualification and thus whomever he is bowling advances regardless of the score at the time of death? Just wanna make sure we have all contingencies covered.

Scratch - good
Death rule - should be -10 if they bowled at least 3 frames otherwise disqualified and their estate invoiced for the remainder of our beers and stay

thanks for all the info Mud!! I am defiantly going to look into one of them puppies!!! GREAT INFO. I am at this very moment thinking about getting a new Goldwing,,, still in the crate! Some great deals on most of the 2013 models, brand new! Yesterday I posted my Goldwing 2002 on Crags list. Check it out,,, Missouri, Goldwings! Anyone want a babied perfect condition 2002 load wing, drop me a line. I hoping to get the NEW Wing for the trip to Vegas! If it happens SOON, I would have time to build a new trailer to pull behind me, like in the pictures I posted. I think it took about half a day to put that one together.

I am getting pretty excited about this FRICKEN TRIP!!! I might put my wife on the Goldwing and bring her too. She is working on getting the time off from the Railroad. (she works for the BNSF Railroad), 35 years now.

Awesome stuff Iceman. Legendary as usual. Hey on that Goldwing the GoPro would definitely work REALLY well. You could easily manipulate the remote control to turn it off and on. I hodge podged mine together - not a lot of room or options to mount the remote and it's a little tricky turning it off and on but it works. I spent about 30 minutes literally staring at my bike trying to figure out what would work and ended up just putting by detector up out of the way so if I go into a high speed lean it's not going to get in the way. That new Goldwing looks bad a$$. Good luck on putting all that together.

Oh one more thing about the GoPro. From my experience with using it for about 5 years is you want to mount it somewhere to give perspective. I really don't like helmet mounts due to moving head around too much and lack of perspective but the one I had was a bit different than my friend Joe used this weekend - the new GoPro side helmet mount is pretty cool because of the fisheye you see part of the helmet and the handlebars, gauges, front tire, etc. so it gives good perspective. But in terms of the ultra versatile suction cup mount I always mount it so I film the front tire and suspension. Mounting it way forward, say on the fender, all you get is a shot of the road and unless there is another bike up there it really doesn't look that good. It's hard to gauge any perspective on speed, etc. Shooting facing back is usually different because typically when I do there is a bike or 6 back there and that helps with perspective along with catching some of the rear fairing. But it's like photography - play around with it and there is no right answer - it's what you like.

Thanks Ice but I can't take credit - my friend Joe aka Faze, another bowler by the way, created the video. I know I watch the video and my adrenaline starts and my throttle hand gets real itchy. Nothing like riding. Bowling is cool and all but pales in comparison to carving up some mean twisties. I'm super pumped about going to Tennessee on September 8. Lots of work to do - tires, gear, etc. but it's all worth it when I spend 6 glorious days of riding the best roads in the northern hemisphere. US129, US28, US165, US68, US421. Drooling as we speak.

Fresh oil is not going to happen, particularly at the one bowling center where I have not bowled in more than three years and only marginally know one person in the proshop through a friend. I really don't care what the format is. As for time, I would guess that we will need to be finished by 5 pm before they oil for evening leagues that usually start at 6. Once they know their numbers for winter leagues at the end of the first week in September, I'll see what I can do to get lanes reserved for us.

Let me ask you this Rob,,, can you get a package deal, with good oil somewhere else??? I just don't want to have to load ever thing up on the bike and drive to another location to bowl. I might have my wife with me, and it would be a major load and unload plus hooking up the trailer to the bike ect ect.

I am open to bowing at an establishment you LIKE, that has good oil, and maybe a good room rate!

Mud, and Ice like to save our money for riding the open roads, with the wind in our face, and scenery blazing by!!!! Rob you got a bike???

Rob…due to Iceman being psychotic…and putting this demand on Mike W. and I…it would be appreciated if we could arrange for an AM less on the 24th…time and place that is most convenient to you. I plan on getting to Vegas in plenty of time in the AM for some practice, meditation, strategy planning, etc… So anytime is good. I MUST get a lesson from you while I'm out there!! If it can't work in the AM before the event…I have the AM on the 25th as well before I leave for Laughlin for sweeps. Once we get this event thing nailed down in terms of time and place…we can PM/email about the lesson.

I need you to take a look at my progress (or lack there of) and see if there's something you think I'm still doing wrong that still needs a lot of work…and /or if we need to start working on something else. If we have the AM lesson on the 24th…I probably won't use what I learn until I have time to fully practice it…but I definitely need to get to work on this stuff if I'm gonna have a successful 2014-15 campaign.

Goldwing riders are riders that are too old to ride an Ultra Classic. And Ultra Classic riders are riders that are too old to ride a "real" motorcycle.

Try riding my bike for 450 miles…no windshield…no heated handlebars…no radios. I don't even have a fuel gauge. And NO…I'm not riding to the event. I don't even have saddlebags on my bike much less some half-*** trailer. I "have" a windshield…and "have" some saddlebags…that bought when I was planning some longer rides back in 2007-08…but strapping 5 bowling balls to the back of that bike just aint gonna happen.

Let me ask you this Rob,,, can you get a package deal, with good oil somewhere else??? I just don't want to have to load ever thing up on the bike and drive to another location to bowl. I might have my wife with me, and it would be a major load and unload plus hooking up the trailer to the bike ect ect.

I am open to bowing at an establishment you LIKE, that has good oil, and maybe a good room rate!

I'll see if I can find someplace where we don't have to follow a league, so the oil should still be fairly fresh. I'll also look into room rates for you. No, I don't ride a bike, but I drive a Mustang GT convertible with a 4.6 liter V8, so I do get a lot of the same effect without much of the discomfort.

I got free nights at Orleans. Nice rooms. Nice hotel. Nice gaming area. Never went up to the bowling alley but I assume it's nice. Sounds good to me. Only issue with it is that it is off the strip but for these intents and purposes who cares. I'll move over to the strip on Thursday.

The two places where I have any chance of getting good room rates for everyone and maybe even lanes that have not been bowled on before we get there: Suncoast and Southpoint. You guys are are bouncing around like a bunch of hyperactive twelve-year-olds. Please calm down and let me see what I can find out. It doesn't do any good to get all excited about someplace where we may not even be able to get lanes. Once again, winter leagues will be in full swing and with the number of people who retire to Vegas, there are lots of daytime leagues that we will have to work around. Be patient!

Nice Iceman. My wife is flying in on Thursday. She doesn't have as much vacation time as I do. The real reason for the trip is to take our 21 year old daughter for her 21st birthday (back in January but Mrs. MP was pregnant). So I'm sure you will meet them then.

I am super stoked to go. First though I have deal's gap for 6 days next week - super stoked on that as well. September is a great month.

We are bowling at Suncoast. They are reserving lanes for us and doing everything possible to make sure that the lanes are not bowled on before we bowl at 1:30. I am bowling there tomorrow, and will check with my contact as to room discounts. Be patient! This may be a big thing for us, but for them it's just four bowlers coming into town to bowl for a couple of hours. I'm doing the best I can. If I can get a discount, great. Looking for a casino that has entertainment, so that my wife and me can celebrate at the same place we are staying. I just went to both,, and I do like the looks of Sams Town. You would not have to owe the Godfather, for the favors you would be asking him!

Yeah, I called Suncoast to see if they'd throw us a bone and the lady I talked to claims the rates are higher because it's closer to the strip, it's newer, and the rooms are larger.

I'll wait to hear back from Rob but I agree that if they can't come down a "little" bit on room rates, might as well go with Sam's Town.

I decided to just take the initiative to do this because God knows how many dreams Iceman is going to have between now and the 24th and poor Rob has somehow become the travel coordinator which I'm sure he's not interested in even though it's a nice resume add-on.

I talked to Suncoast and they didn't seem too willing to come down on room rates. I have talked to a couple people at Sam's Town about putting fresh oil down for our tournament on the 24th and they are going to get back to me with pricing. It sounds like it's no big deal, sounds like they'll have a couple lanes available...I just need to hear back and make sure they aren't gonna jack up the lane rental or charge us some tournament fee or something crazy.

When I lived in Vegas years ago. Sam's was on it's way to being a dump. Wouldn't be surprised if it is now.

ICEMAN, I would be worried about parking your brand new GoldWing in that particular area of the town.

It doesn't matter. Sam's Town still hasn't called me back.

Vegas used to be a lot more accomodating. My dad knew a guy that would take a small group of like 7-8 people once a year and gamble; blackjack. And most times they went...they'd get a free room. If they didn't, they'd call some other place and that place would give them a free room. And these guys were all teachers, not millionaire high rollers. Back then Vegas knew that if they could just get you into their casino...they'd end up making money on the deal.

Just lets the business go elsewhere. Maybe I should have said the other site was a place not owned by Boyd gaming...maybe Suncoast didn't care because the money is still going to their company...who knows.

I mean, we're not asking them to put on a big event and promotions and put up baloons and have strippers show up. We're just saying..."can we reserve a couple lanes and 4 minutes before we start have one of your slappy workers push the little machine down each lane once or twice?"

The lady at Sam's Town was at least nice though. I called back to make sure they didn't lose my number and she remembered me and said the boss guy had been busy all day and in meetings but she hadn't forgotten about me. So hopefully will know within the next 2 hours. He'll probably call when I'm driving and I forgot my bluetooth headset so I may have to answer the phone illegally. :eek:

Vegas used to be a lot more accomodating. My dad knew a guy that would take a small group of like 7-8 people once a year and gamble; blackjack. And most times they went...they'd get a free room. If they didn't, they'd call some other place and that place would give them a free room. And these guys were all teachers, not millionaire high rollers. Back then Vegas knew that if they could just get you into their casino...they'd end up making money on the deal.

If not, I have a pair of lanes reserved at Sam's Town, 1:30PM, they agreed to oil beforehand, $3 per game.

I didn't mean to trump Rob, I just figured I'd look into it, maybe get lucky and Suncoast offers something….the bang, we're done…no more aggravation.

But whatever. If Rob gets a decent rate at Suncoast, I can always cancel the lanes at Sam's Town.

Honestly, I don't really care where it is. I didn't even care about the rate. I'm only staying the one night (24th) because I gotta go to Laughlin for sweeps the following day. So as long as we aren't staying at the Cosmopolitan or something ultra swanky…I could give a rat's ***.

What people don't realize…is that this is how most PBA tournaments also get arranged. You got Norm Duke on the phone with Sam's Town while WRW is working out a deal at Southpointe and the PDW gets all upset because he was about to reserve a room and a fan wore a red shirt and he got distracted and then Stuart Williams chimes in that he wants to bowl near a rib join that he likes but Walter Ray's camper/RV won't fit in the parking lot and the whole time Belmo is trying to make plane reservations…this is just how quality tournaments get scheduled!!!

I thought scheduling the 1ABHMAVZSC Invitational was difficult…and all I had to do was deal with MWhite. Had I had to deal with Iceman…WHOA!! We'd have ended up at 3 different centers and I'd have had a nervous breakdown.

You are operating under the misconception that Vegas today is like the Vegas of old. Back in the days that organized crime ran the city, the only thing they wanted was for people to come and gamble to keep the money moving. Today Vegas is run by large corporations who insist that not only every property is profitable, but that every department within the property is a profit center. The days of cheap meals and cheap rooms are gone until AFTER you've gambled a bunch of money. At that point, they will give you most anything you want. Until that point, they expect you to pay like everyone else. I have already stuck my neck way out with the people at Suncoast. I should hear back from them today.

I think it's a good time to say to Rob, that your help is GREATLY appreciated! Anytime we try to "arrange" things…whether it's starting a team for a league or organizing a small event or party or fantasy league…lots of people don't realize the extra effort that is needed and unlike me, Iceman, MWhite, and even Mudpuppy…you're actually a busy guy.

I mean, okay…Mudpuppy has like 9 kids…but thats what a wife is for…am I right?? And MWhite is a business owner…but he runs a pro shop…which is like the dream job of everyone on this website. If only there was more money in it! And Iceman? That dude wakes up, his wife has a tank top and shorts layer out on the bed for him…makes him toast and coffee…and he goes and plays in the garage all day until about 4PM when it's dinner and bed time. He's essentially, at this point, just waiting to die.

And me? Pfft. I work 6-7 hours a day, bowl, play some XBox…maybe help the kid with some homework…other than that…I have no life whatsoever.

As to Iceman's mad ramblings Part IV…Ice…I'm not a gambler, I'm a poker player. Now, HAVE I won more money this year in slots than in poker?? Well, I'd say "gross" it's about even. But "net" I'm actually way up in slots and down in poker. I'm not a big slots player…my parents enjoy that. I figured you being 66 and riding an Old Wing would LOVE the slots action!! A LOT of people in your age group! Make some new "friends for the end"!!

Maybe after bowling MWhite and I can find a reasonably priced poker tournament at the hotel or something. I know MWhite enjoys Hold Em. Hopefully he's better at it than bowling! : P

I'm thinking once we get this nailed down, we're gonna start to receive calls from sponsors and what not…maybe media. Wednesday is a slow TV night…maybe ESPN makes an offer?? All I can say, with the buzz this is generating…Suncoast is gonna end up being very, very sad if they pass on what 'might' be the premier bowling event for many, many years to come. I imagine…maybe 2-7 years from now…re-naming it the "Iceman Memorial Tournament" in your honor. But, lets not get ahead of ourselves.

The key is we need all 5 members committed to this thing. Mudpuppy is in and relying on reliable transportation. I'm definitely making the trip and am not very far away. Iceman I figure at about 92% chance of showing given he's gonna be riding on a motorcycle from nearly the Mississippi River. Odds of MWhite showing up is nearly the same as Rob M….I'm thinking high 60s in terms of %. Mike is rather shy…and Rob isn't 100% used to Iceman/Aslan antics and hijinks and may decide to smoke a pipe and read a good English novel…maybe have a brandy with some friends. I don't know…whatever mature people do that have a life void of antics and hijinks...

I imagine…maybe 2-7 years from now…re-naming it the "Iceman Memorial Tournament" in your honor. But, lets not get ahead of ourselves.

The key is we need all 5 members committed to this thing. Mudpuppy is in and relying on reliable transportation. I'm definitely making the trip and am not very far away. Iceman I figure at about 92% chance of showing given he's gonna be riding on a motorcycle from nearly the Mississippi River. Odds of MWhite showing up is nearly the same as Rob M….I'm thinking high 60s in terms of %. Mike is rather shy…and Rob isn't 100% used to Iceman/Aslan antics and hijinks and may decide to smoke a pipe and read a good English novel…maybe have a brandy with some friends. I don't know…whatever mature people do that have a life void of antics and hijinks...

OK,,, MARK me down as 99.9 percent chance of being there! IF the weather goes to hell the week of the trip, I will simple jump in my Prius and make the drive in what ever bad weather could be going on! Bowling you, (my friend, is going to be right up there with that 245 I bowled today on the seniors league) Don't ask me what the series was,,, don't want to FREAK you out before we Tangle on the lanes!

Like I said, am hoping to ride the bike, but if it looks like crap, I will take the car,,, if that can't happen, I will fly,,, if planes are being kept on the ground due to security reasons, I will jog out!!! ICEMAN WILL BE THERE.

Aslan email me tomorrow where we are bowling so I can book. Traveling around VA, TN and NC right now so internet access is shady at best. So I want to try and book this week. If not I can book when I get back on Sunday or Monday if that is not too late.

I'm waiting to hear from Rob. If he ends up getting a preferred rate for us at Suncoast, we'll be staying and bowling there. If not, we'll be staying/bowling at Sam's Town.

I will e-mail you when I hear from Rob. If you don't get an e-mail by Saturday morning, call Sam's Town and reserve your room there. Given that this thing is a mere 2 weeks away; Friday is the deadline. I don't anticipate Sam's Town filling up...but we best not push our luck. I'm still crossing my fingers for Southcoast...I think it's nicer and closer to the strip...but like Iceman said...it really doesn't matter where we stay...especially me and MWhite since I'm only staying one night and I presume Mike is as well.

FORMAT:
4 games: Not sure what rate Rob got, but I think they quoted me $3/game at Sam's Town. We'll set up the order alphabetically.

- The fits game for each player is "practice" and doesn't count towards qualifying.
- The next 3 games are "qualifying". They will determine where you are seeded in the stepladder finals. Since Iceman is pretending not to know how this works, I'll explain it to amuse him. Highest series from qualifying is seeded #1, 2nd highest is seeded #2, etc....

- The 5th seed bowls the 4th seed...the winner of that match (match-play) faces the #3 seed. The winner of #4/5 vs. #3 faces the #2 seed. The winner of that match faces the #1 seed. The winner of that match is crowned CHAMPION.

- A tie in qualifying is broken with a coin flip.

- For the sake of Iceman's and Aslan's sidebets, winner is the person who makes it furthest in the stepladder finals. If Iceman is seeded #3 and me #5 and I lose in the first round, Iceman wins the sidebet(s) even though he didn't actually face me in the finals.

- If certain members don't show...we'll do the singles qualifying and stepladder with whomever makes it/doesn't back out.

- Following the stepladder finals, there will be a doubles match (3 games each, no practice game) of Iceman/Mudpuppy vs. MWhite/Aslan. If for some reason MWhite doesn't show or is injured, RobM is his alternate. If Rob chooses not to participate AND MWhite cancels...doubles match is cancelled.

- Standard USBC rules apply. There is no dress code so shorts are fine as are hats as are shirts without your name on them (as are tank tops for Iceman).

COST: For those participating in singles AND doubles: Bowling cost (assuming $3/game) will be $27-$36 depending on how many games are bowled in the stepladder finals. For those NOT participating in doubles (Rob); the cost will be $18-$27. To make it easy, I'll probably pay for all the games [[(4 * 5) singles +(3 * 4) doubles] + (2 * 4) stepladder] @ $3/game = $120 up front and then each of you can pay me back $3 for whatever games you bowl.

That is based on $3/game...I don't know what rate (per game) Rob got at Suncoast...could be a little higher, the same, a little less, or FREE!

The rain we had was as a result of a hurricane off of the coast of Mexico. We had it for three days, and now there isn't a cloud in the sky. The "monsoon season" usually ends right around the middle of September. I don't think you'll have a problem.

My initial thought was he's just coordinating it with a drug run he planned on making anyways. But then I got to thinking and he probably wants to get back to the pro shop since this end of September time is a BIG pro shop sales period with new fall leagues starting and people needing everything from balls to bags to shoes to accessories.

Not to mention the ongoing concern that having MWhite and RobM occupy similar areas of space could be cataclysmic like in the Jon Claude Van Damme movie.

I am going to get one of those cameras you use to film while on the bike.... actually went out and priced them. The one I want is 399.99 at Best Buy,,, think I can beat that price, but it has the wide view high resolution ect ect...

I think when you order it through Sams/Costco, its the same price, but they throw in a bunch of goodies with it! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

I will be around that evening. If nothing is going down, I might try to find a poker tournament that isn't too outrageously priced. Fortunately I'm better at poker than I am at bowling. I can't stay out too late though. Got a lesson with Rob in the AM on Thursday and then I gotta go to Laughlin for Sweeps. I could have stayed another night in Vegas and left for Laughlin on Friday but;
A) The longer I stay in Vegas the more likely I am to spend money on things I shouldn't.
B) The sooner I get to Laughlin, the more practice I can get on the lanes we'll be bowling for sweeps.

OK Rob,,, Iceman will be on his bike, weather permitting, and the number of balls I will bring will be limited to 3! I have 14 to choose from. What can you tell us about the lane conditions. I believe you said it would probably be reasonably fresh unused. How long is the pattern, heavy or light, trying to figure out a combination of balls that will handle anything that might present itself to me! I would love to bring my 6 ball Storm bag, but then I would have to leave my wife at home, and that's not going to happen!! (:)

Any information you can pass on about what the lanes will PROBABLY be like would be appreciated.

Okay, to address the last issue first. While you are competing is not the time to receive coaching, in fact Aslan has already booked a lesson with me for the next day. Secondly, I really want to join in the bowling. I fully intend to get beat because, as I have said on numerous occasions, I pretty much suck at bowling. Coaching involves a totally different skill set and has nothing to do with my own physical ability or lack thereof.

As far as the lane conditions, I just started a daytime league there last week and found that the weekday lane conditions are totally different from what I have seen in practice on the weekend. I believe it's medium length (around 40') and pretty dry on the outside, but with little shim in the middle. I found the lanes to be speed sensitive in that too much speed results in lots of washouts (I shot 133 the first game). After starting to get a clue and several ball changes, I shot 193 the second game and finally came on a winning combination, slow hooking my Melee Cross the third game to shoot 232. The Melee worked very well, the Fortera Exile was next, followed by the Meanstreak Brawler and the Radical Grease Monkey. IF the lanes are the same on Wednesday, I would say that a fairly aggressive sold with some surface is probably your best bet, with ball-down options to fill out your arsenal.

just received a call from Rob at the casino! He had a number of questions, that they wanted to know. Should know if the rates are within my budget soon. I must say Rob sounds better then I thought he would on the phone!

He wanted to know if he got Iceman a special rate, would I take a bowling lesson from him?? What???

He also said that for a fee, he could guaranty that Aslan would not be a problem, by feeding him bogus bowling instructions!

He said he had a SPECIAL surprise for the Wise Guy, Mike White all planned out!!

He said Mudpuppy and Ice would treated like Kings, as long as we win the doubles match against Mike and Aslan! I said what if we don't, he said, FORGET-ABOUT-IT!!

I had no idea that this was on the books, and people were beating on this Historic meeting of Bikers, against Surfers!!

Yes, because RobM is the bowling coach to the stars much like MWhite is the bowling ball driller to the stars and I am a star. So, do the math.

Ice, you're not really ready for a silver level coach. Howbout I give you a lesson after the tournament is over. I am working on my Level I and already went through the course on teaching little kids how to bowl. I'll bring RVP credentials and maybe we can start you with a one-step release and work from there?

You have the knowledge...you're on YOUR home turf!! Don't let Icemann psyche you out with his bush league Missouri nonssense!!! YOU are the favorite...in MY book...because YOU have the skills, the knowledge, and the advantage that every time a slot machine dings you don't get distracted!! How many white haired ladies are in Suncoast casino at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Wednesday!!? Iceman probably won't make it to the event because he'll get mobbed by "his people"!!

See Rob...I may lack all semblance of bowling skills. I may be comepletely un-gifted. Uncoordinated...a bit annoying...akward...kinds mentally "slow"...easily distracted by beautiful women...and yes, sometimes I have an odor and gas problem. All those...bad things, for sure. But what I HAVE...is the ability to use my MIND to completely intimidate and fluster my opponents. And I don't even have to try. Do you know how long I was on THIS website before getting Iceman IRATE?? I think it was my first or second post. And thats when I knew. This Iceman guy....I can get in his head...run around in there...yell, holler, blow up some baloons...the whole 9 yards! His weakness is he's EASILY rattled by minor league mental manipulation. THATs my strength. I am immune to being rattled. I can rattle myself by throwing a 113 game and wanting to punch something but not finding something appropriate to punch. But as to other people getting in my head...I'm a ROCK.

Now, you and I are giving these clowns a HUGE amount of pins scratch. We're expected to lose!!! If we win...it's the biggest thing this century!!! And they KNOW that. I've beat MWhite scratch...and he's a 209 average bowler (that likes to pretend he's a 179 average bowler)!! Did I get lucky? Given. Was it on my home court? Absolutely. Did I once again put him in an environment that gave me the edge. For certain. But who cares? I WON! Iceman and Mudpuppy are traveling the country...with inflated egos and inflated averages...and they are RIPE for defeat. But you HAVE to believe you can do it. 3 games of qualifying...but it's the stepladder finals that MATTERS.

You NEED the "PIZAZZ"...that "hunger" or absolute desire to win. You have to think you can win this thing. Whats the worst that happens...you get beat by 3 guys that have 20-40 pins higher average than you? Uh??? No duh? But...BUT...what if you DON'T lose??? This may just come down to who wants it more. So WANT IT!!!

The above advice/coaching is for Rob and MWhite, Iceman, and Mudpuppy are prohibited from using it.

Well...I just talked to Rob and booked my room at Suncoast. A room rate of $50.15 for a nice room in a nicer hotel is good enough for me!

I lost Rob's call (he was breaking up) but I will forward this info to Mike and Mudpuppy. Iceman is in the system but Mudpuppy was not so I'm assuming Rob still needs to check the PM I sent him with Mudpuppy's name and nights.

I also canceled the lane reservation at Sam's Town.

We're less than 2 weeks from the premier bowling event in internet history!!!

Does bowlingboards.com have a "banner" or something? I mean, maybe the alley will let us put up a banner. Free advertising!!! People might wander by and say, "wow...this looks like a fun event of some of the greatest bowlers of all time....what is going on here??" And we could point them to the banner and they would read it and want to be part of this site and contribute to it becoming bigger than google, massive profits for bowlingball.com...and Bowl1820 would be able to sell his shares of the website for Facebook billions!!!

What I DO know is, after this thing is over...I am willing to stick around for 30-45 minutes to sign autographs and have pictures taken with the fans. I have always believed you put fans first!! I just hope I never get too famous to remember the little guys. And I hope I never get so famous that people try to hack nude photos of me from my phone or computer. Just talked to Rob on the phone,,, Wow,,, we talked for 45 minutes, seems like a Real Nice Guy!!! I will be calling to make my reservations at the hotel tomorrow morning! Tempiture in Vegas looks great, now and through my stay there! ( 90 to 100 ) degrees. Its drizzle and in the 50s here, hate this weater, hoping for mid 70's to low 80s when I leave the 21 of sept. Have some friends, ( family going to be staying at my place while we are gone, visiting form the East Coast), will get to visit with them after I come home from the BOWL OFF!!

Back rest with storage bag for wife on the back side.. hummmm very comfortable!! IT also has heated seats, and grips! Great for when crossing
the mountains.

If it helps your confidence, I had a real BAD night (score wise ) at the mom and pop wood lanes in Plattsburg. Bowing with my middle son, and wife! I am not sure I even bowled one 270 game???

I admire you for all the practice you're putting in! Keep it up.

Sometimes when I don't feel "confident" on my strike line, I know I am tentative when shooting my left hand spares off that strike line. That's what made me decide that I really need to shoot all spares with plastic - altho, truth be told, sometimes I get lazy and shoot with my strike ball and occasionally live to regret that laziness.

One last thing...get your confidence back. I'm trusting you to put Iceman away in Vegas. I believe you can do it...just get that attitude we use to see back and use it to your advantage.

I like you a bunch too Granny!!! YOUR next on my target to bowl!! Hey we are about the same age too! With many,, MANY more years of coaching and experience!

LOL (kind of like shrinks, and people who need them, getting together and comparing psychological notes.
