Hammer

Today I went to our pro shop at the new house we bowl in to find out things about my thumbhole in my Hammer Anger ball. The thumbhole was too big and tape wasn't helping enough. The ball seemed to be falling off my hand too easily through the release zone. I asked him if he could check the left/right pitch and the forward/reverse of the thumbhole. The left/right pitch was wrong for me and the forward/reverse pitch was 1/8 reverse. He said that is why the ball was dropping off too easily for me. I forget what he changed the left/right pitch to but the forward/reverse pitch he changed to 1/8 forward.
With the pitch changes I had the old thumb slug drilled out and a new slug put in and drilled so I have a snug fit and don't have to put in 5 or 6 pieces of tape. I also am having the ball de-oiled and resurfaced to 4000 Abralon and polished. I told the pro shop guy that the new thumb pitches and new surfacing of my ball might throw off my game. When I pick up my ball Thursday I will have to bowl a couple games to see what this new thumbhole size will be like. Have to make sure that my thumb won't be hanging up when it warms up. Also have to see what the ball will do through the release zone when it comes off my hand.
Hopefully I will have better control of the ball with the pitch changes. I never really knew about the different pitches in the finger holes until I came to this site. I am glad that I asked these questions at the pro shop today.
